Russell Crowe Romps and Stomps!!

Advantages: Strong and powerful message, well directed and acted in the most part
Disadvantages: Too violent for many, some wooden parts and a slightly amateurish feel

...This 1992 film is a very violent look at gangs in Australia, with a tough view on racism and punishment and the mental attitudes of the young and the old in relation to it. The Plot The film follows a group of skinheads who dish out brutal and vicious beatings to members of other gangs of race because they believe their inclusion in society is polluting their home city of Melbourne. Russell Crowe

Advantages: Wide availability, cans/multipacks often competetively priced, nice taste.
Disadvantages: Differing strength on different pumps, therefore not always a nice pint.

...I'll never forget the face of the woman behind the bar when my mate asked her for a pint of Russell Crowe. She didn't know if he was serious, drunk, mentally ill or otheriwise indisposed! All he wanted was a pint of Strongbow, but asked for it in some ridiculous rhyming slang that we'd invemted earlier that week. Strongbow, for me, will always be a summer drink. Sitting in the sun in one of the pubs down the Mumbles sipping an ice cold Bow is something that everyone should do at least once in their life! It does seem to have developed a bit of a bad reputation, but Strongbow is one of the better ciders that is readily available on tap. A good pint of Bow has a nice crisp taste, is fairly dry but a little sweet, (not so sweet that its Woodpecker!) and slides coolly down the throat. Unfortunately, the majority of pints these days...

...With the initial controversy faded Romper Stomper now stands in most people's minds as the movie which introduced us to a certain Mr. Russell Crowe. However, those with slightly longer memories will remember the outrage and critical slaughtering this movie received on its initial release due to its ultra-violent content and dubious placement of sympathies. A lesser movie may well have caved under such attention and faded never to be seen again, but not Romper Stomper - instead it went on to garner several awards and silence a few of those who denounced it as exploitative trash. Of course that is not to say that they did not have a point. Romper Stomper is certainly a gut-wrenchingly violent movie which begins with the title words of this review being roared full into the camera by the movie's lead character and doesn't let up in...

...I must admit that I now really like Russell Brand and have taken to catching up on his older work but it did take a while for his style and personality to grow on me. As in daily life, the more times you try to like something, the easier it becomes and the same is definitely true for Russell Brand. Russell's 'Booky Wook' is a very candid and comprehensive of the entertainer's life history up to very recently. The book is split into four sections which span through the major stages of his life. many people who release autobiographies tend to have some input but draft a 'ghost writer' to write the most part of the book. In this case though, it is clear that Russell has almost single-handedly churned this out. The language, sentiments and humour are very characteristic of him and his delivery. A cult crow calls

Advantages: Pretty much a film for any taste with a witty script!
Disadvantages: Not the greatest acting ever!

...The cult following of this film is huge. It is one of those films however that you may have heard about but never really had chance to watch. If thats the case you should definately buy a copy today. For under £5 you are getting a great movie. The story is based on a comic of the same title but it has been adapted into a very gothic style movie with action, love and a dash of magic. Brandon lee gives a good performance as the anti hero in search of vengence for the lives of his girlfriend and himself. This movie was never going to win any awards for acting but it is easy to relate to them and this makes up for any lack of oscar winning roles! Brandon le tragically died during the filming of this movie and that is possibly ther eason for its cult status. It all adds to the legacy of the crow. I would not personally buy the subsequent...
