Advantages: Quick boil, colourful and attractive looking and solidly built
Disadvantages: nothing apart from maybe the light being constantly on

If you can get the Russell Hobbs Dual Illuminated Kettle for around the £25.00 mark then you will have bagged yourself a bargain, even so, I?d still happily spend up to the £30.00 mark for this rapid boil, colourful water warmer upper. ...I have recently bought this kettle to replace my old noisy Russell Hobbs, and I must say it is an absolute delight! It is so quiet it's unbelieveable, the only noise it makes it a little bubble when it reaches boiling point. This kettle is also very stylish, from it's highly polished stainless steel exterior to the cool 3 stage illumination lights in the dual water windows. The kettle glows blue when on standby, lilac when boiling and red when using the simmer function. It makes a fantastic addition to the modern kitchen and a great talking point with friends. The simmer function is great too, I found it useful when friends rang to say they were on their way to visit, we boiled the kettle and used the simmer function so that it was ready to go as soon as our guests arrived. This is also good when preparing big family breakfasts...

Russell Hobbs Kettle - does what it says

Advantages: Keeps water hot for quite a long time meaning water is quicker to boil
Disadvantages: Water tastes like disinfectant until cleaned & boiled a number of times

...I bought the Russell Hobbs 'Thermos' Kettle about a year ago. I liked the sound of the idea that it keeps water hot for around 6 hours, abit like a thermos flask. The design of the kettle looks great, nice stainless steel finish, the cord fits into the base easily so there's no unnecessary cord laying around on the work surface. It does keep the water hot for considerable amount of time, although I've never timed how long. When switched on to boil the water level guage lights up blue - which I quite like. The down falls are 1. When I first got the kettle I rinsed it out a number of times as per the instructions then made a cuppa which tasted awful, like disinfectant. ...Russel Hobbs are often extremely well made and durable appliances however this is not the case with this product. I'll admit that this iron looks extremely stylish and well made, however it isnt. I personally dont own this product but I bought one for a Christmas present for my friend as a joke and she has being ranting on about it ever since. It has a dial which adjusts the heat for a variety of different textures of clothes such as silk, cotton and that material on sports wear. However no matter what heat setting it is on it still seems far too hot for the material. My friend has said that she has burnt more clothes that not with this iron. However the cord is extremely long which I suppose is an advantage (4metres) It doesnt though have a steam shoot which I thought was standard for any iron nowadays. Oh how I was wrong. ...I love this kettle, it has a lights display when you use and when you dont use it. It glows pink when its boiling, red when you turn it to simmer and blue when its not doing anything. it is a fast and quiet kettle, sometimes i hadn't even realsied it had boiled and had to re-boil it cause it had gone cold! Maximum capacity is 1.7 litres and it also has a Anticalc filter which is removable for cleaning. you can place the kettle on the base anyway you wish due to the 360 design. Shuts off automatically when boiled. Is hot to the touch once boiled , hotter than a plastic one cause this kettle is metal and its a bit hard to keep clean but i didn't let that put me off, i got it for the lights!...
