Russell Hobbs steam glide iron

Advantages: Great value for money, easy to use, quick to iron, nice looking
Disadvantages: a bit heavy

...I bought this Russell Hobbs Steam glide Professional Iron which is styled in a rich purple colour way and boasts 2200 watts of power from Argos for around £21 which is great value for money. I decided to buy this iron because my old iron had stopped working after only just about a year which is my own fault for getting such as really cheap non brand iron at the time. I am not usually all that keen on ironing but since getting this attractive iron from agros I have quite enjoyed ironing as the iron is so nice to the touch and is easy to iron clothes. The fact that it has a ceramic soleplate effortlessly glides over fabrics, cutting down on ironing time. I really like the fact that the iron has a large 350ml large transparent water tank, meaning less time is spent refilling. Featuring variable temperature and steam settings, plus...

Russell Hobbs 2 Slice White toaster

Advantages: deforst, adjustable slots, cancel button
Disadvantages: only 2 slots

...COST: £14.99 PLACE OF PURCHASE: Comet AGE: 6 months COLOUR: White SPECIAL FEATURES: high lift, cancel button, wide slots and 'cool wall' covering Bought from my local comet shop this russel hobbs toaster was a much needed appliance in our house. Since ours came with very little kitchen essentials we had spent over a year cooking our toast under the grill. I know what you're thinking why spend so long before buying a toaster when you can pick one up from Tesco for around a fiver. The fact is we'd never thought we'd really need one and since we won some vouchers for comet we thought we'd splash out on a fancy brand name one. This toaster is pretty basic in fuction, it only holds two slices and works by pressing the lever down, you can adjust the power setting but only works if you set it before you press down the lever as...

RUSSEL HOBBS

Advantages: light, stylish
Disadvantages: more or less everything else

...Russel Hobbs are often extremely well made and durable appliances however this is not the case with this product. I'll admit that this iron looks extremely stylish and well made, however it isnt. I personally dont own this product but I bought one for a Christmas present for my friend as a joke and she has being ranting on about it ever since. It has a dial which adjusts the heat for a variety of different textures of clothes such as silk, cotton and that material on sports wear. However no matter what heat setting it is on it still seems far too hot for the material. My friend has said that she has burnt more clothes that not with this iron. However the cord is extremely long which I suppose is an advantage (4metres) It doesnt though have a steam shoot which I thought was standard for any iron nowadays. Oh how I was wrong. It is though...

Get into hot water with style - Russell Hobbs Stylis Kettle

Advantages: Hot water and fast!
Disadvantages: Measly power cord 0.75 m length

...The Russell Hobbs 14590 Stylis kettle is cordless and takes its power from a circular base that allows the kettle to face in any position in a 360 plain allowing it to be arranged on even a flat and level work surface suitably-oriented for either left, right or even mixed-handed households. The base comes with a 0.75 metre mains cable which restricts where you can place the kettle but satisfies the safety aspect of reducing the chance of catching trialling cables for electrically-operated appliances especially those that can contain up to 1.7 litres of boiling water. The kettle has an open handle that gives the kettle quite a good balanced feel even when full of boiling water. The spout is both accurate for pouring measured amounts exactly where you want them and non-drip when you return to the base. The water is delivered through...

Russell Hobbs 9379 - Good Value

Advantages: Seems to do what it claims! Good looks, Robust
Disadvantages: None so far..

...Sick and fed up of getting burnt toast every morning, we decided it was time to get a more modern toaster. After much deliberation, we decided on a Russell Hobbs/Classic Satin Toastec?, 4 slice toaster, model number 9379. (Have included the model number, as there are other near identical toasters with different number). The "New Rapid Toastec? System that crisps bread rapidly on the outside, while keeping is moist in the centre" is what the blurb said and this is what attracted us. And fair enough, it seems to live up to that claim. The looks of the machine are quite good and reminds me of professional toasters one often sees in eating establishments (cafes if your not posh). It is made out of stainless steel and looks good on the kitchen worktop and is robust. The controls are set our along the base? There are two browning...

Russell Hobbs hand blender - Model No. 14452

Advantages: Fast blending./chopping
Disadvantages: Cannot be used in very hot liquids

...My elderly Braun handblender which is used several times a week when I make soup was getting rather blunt so I went to buy another. I didn't see a Braun but I did see this Russell Hobbs model. I used it almost immediately but within minutes the plastic guard had melted and buckled in the hot liquid. I was pretty well stunned; this was the last think I expected. I re-read the instruction booklet and although it advises blending the ingredients before cooking and using caution when working with hot liquids, nowhere does it say that it is unsuitable for use in hot liquids. So beware! Otherwise, the two speeds are good and it did blend the vegetables well. However, it looks as though I might have a fight with the manufacturers for a refund....

Fine for one person

Advantages: Takes up very little space, does its job
Disadvantages: White surfaces - impractical, light always on

...a Russell Hobbs kettle that lasted for years, I decided to go for the Russell Hobbs one, and a few days later, it arrived, care of John Lewis. It cost £99.95, with free delivery, and I got £6 cash back through quidco.com. First impressions It seemed really small when I finally got it out of the box - at least smaller than my previous mini oven. However, I think this was just because I was looking at it out of context. It is bigger than the average microwave oven; in fact, it is large enough to fit a reasonable sized chicken in, although I doubt it would do the massive turkeys my mum usually buys for Christmas! In any case, it is perfectly big enough for me. Another thing that put me off a bit when I first saw it was the shiny door. It is designed to be see-through, which it is, but from a certain distance, it also acts as a mirror. That...

Russell Hobbs 4461 - spare parts

Advantages: Does a decent job of making a range of breads
Disadvantages: Spare parts policy is not customer/environment focussed

...The Russell Hobbs 4461 'does what it says on the tin' ie you can make a range of loaves with the minimal fuss that you would expect from a breadmaker. What you might like to know as a potential purchaser is 'can I get spares if it goes wrong'? If you want a new paddle (the bit that kneads the dough), no problem. If you need a new baking tin, again no problem. I need a new seal for the shaft at the bottom of the loaf tin. Just a small rubber o-ring seal, value a few pence. However, the spares outlet (Salton, the parent company of Russell Hobbs) will only sell a complete loaf tin (cost £17). I have pointed out to them how customer unfriendly this is not to mention the environmental damage of making a new metal loaf tin to get the use of a small rubber seal but they simply repeat that they 'unfortunately' only sell the loaf tin...

Russell Hobbs Kettle - does what it says

Advantages: Keeps water hot for quite a long time meaning water is quicker to boil
Disadvantages: Water tastes like disinfectant until cleaned & boiled a number of times

...I bought the Russell Hobbs 'Thermos' Kettle about a year ago. I liked the sound of the idea that it keeps water hot for around 6 hours, abit like a thermos flask. The design of the kettle looks great, nice stainless steel finish, the cord fits into the base easily so there's no unnecessary cord laying around on the work surface. It does keep the water hot for considerable amount of time, although I've never timed how long. When switched on to boil the water level guage lights up blue - which I quite like. The down falls are 1. When I first got the kettle I rinsed it out a number of times as per the instructions then made a cuppa which tasted awful, like disinfectant. It took numerous cleaning sessions and boiling water and emptying away sessions before I could get rid of the taste. 2. I find the lid difficult to use, it sort...
