An Old Essay...

Advantages: ...
Disadvantages: ...

...---------------------------- -The New School ---------------------------- This is an essay that I found from years and years ago when I was at school... "Time to wake up! Time to wake up" . Oh heck it's my mother and her wake up calls. It was 8 o' clock in the morning and I had a terrible unrelaxing night's sleep after all the thoughts and nervous tensions running through my brain worrying about what my newschool was going to be like. Could it be a good first day, or could it all go wrong and turn out as a disaster, I suppose theres only one way to find out... I slowly got up and with a deep yawn and a big stretch after the rough nights sleep, picked up my school uniform and walked to the bathroom with no thought of what was to come of school. When I quickly got dressed after a refreshing shower, it was time to fetch my...

My coursework essay.

Advantages: I got an A
Disadvantages: Hard work

...This is a Shakespeare essay I wrote about the play The Taming of the Shrew, as a piece of English coursework, I got an A and was really pleased. It took me so long, we were doing it in English for weeks. Does the taming of the shrew show an abuse of women where Kate has been brainwashed or does Shakespeare show the audience something different? In introducing Kate and Bianca, Shakespeare shows a stark contrast between what men wanted in the 16th century and a woman who just didn?t fit the mould. In Shakespeare?s patriarchal society, Katherina Stratford is an outcast in society, the female protagonist who rebels against the expectations of the time. Men looked down on her and in the days of arranged marriages she was undesirable. Meanwhile, Tranio loves Bianca at first sight ?I burn! I pine, I perish,? and this shows that...

Russia

Advantages: help people doing work on soviet russia
Disadvantages: ------

...The rule of Stalin, from 1924 to 1953, in the Soviet Union was to change Russia into a modern superpower. He did this by modernizing the Russian economy with the 5 year plans. He increased industrial production; he also wanted to increase agricultural production by the collectivization policy. He carried out purges against his enemies to make sure he kept control of the U.S.S.R. The purges increased his control of U.S.S.R. and Communist Party. Stalin, as head of the Politburo, gained most of the power in the 1930s that started with a Great Purge, from 1934 to 1938, of his opponents, both political and ideology, this resulted in a large amount of the population being exterminated and included members of the Bolshevik Central Committee. Measures ranged from imprisonment in Gulag labour camps to execution after a show trial. No one knows...

Sociology Essay

Advantages: Read review
Disadvantages: Read review

...Within this essay I will be looking at the way in which families and households are influenced by social policies and laws. I will also look at how social policies and laws may not influence families and households. The government play a big part in most policies that may influence families and households so I will look at what the three main political parties do to influence families and households: Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrats. The New Right are very similar to functionalists and concentrate on the nuclear family. They believe a married couple caring for their children within a household is the traditional nuclear family. The New Right realise that there are other family types that are decreasing the amount of nuclear families. They think this is happening because there are too many over-generous benefits that support...

Nothing To Essay

Advantages: Its all about nothing
Disadvantages: There's nothing to learn

...Don't you just hate it when you ask someone what they are up to and they reply "nothing"? Well I do ,so I thought I would write an essay about absolutely nothing. As you will find out from reading this essay, I can guarantee you wont learn anything much about nothing. I would first like to point out that the word 'nothing' is very contradictory in its own right. For example: You cant say I'm doing 'nothing' because in fact you are doing something even if it's just breathing. Another good example of this is when people say there is 'nothing' there, yet again there is something there even if it's the air that we breath. To me if you say the word nothing then you are contradicting yourself. Look I've only written 2 whole paragraphs and have already contradicted myself by saying this review is about nothing when clearly this review is...

Another Inspector Calls Essay!

Advantages: You might find it interesting
Disadvantages: You might find it incredibly boring!

...Judging by the number of essays relating to the play An Inspector Calls which I've read lately on Ciao, this arduous task seems to have been assigned to pretty much every GCSE English student in the country! Do these writers know what they're inflicting on the schoolchildren of tomorrow when they pen their masterpieces? Anyway, never to be outdone, here is my attempt at the essay. When it came back it had received 53/54 and A* so I'm posting it in the vague hope that some other poor student might benefit from it! The play I will be studying is An Inspector Calls, a mystery like perhaps no other, with elements of suspense and highly-charged emotion. Written by J.B. Priestley in 1945, the play tells the story of how an upper-class family in the 1910s find their engagement party disturbed by the appearance of an Inspector, claiming to be...

Silas Marner English Essay

Advantages: Might help some other poor soul doing eng lit for GCSE
Disadvantages: Blumin' boring to write in the first place

...Just got my marks back on this one and I only lost 3 marks out of 27 so I thought I might put it up here... Good Lord this was a boring one to write, It was also late in at the time so I nearly got in serious trouble...Ooops. I'm just not highly organised really. But anyway, here's the actual essay, and I hope it may be some use some time...and if anyone manages to read it without falling asleep please tell me, because if it's as boring to read as it was to write, oops comes to mind. Question: How does George Eliot portray Silas Marner as a sympathetic figure and how do you as a modern reader, respond to this portrayal? Right from the beginning of the novel, George Eliot does her best to portray Silas as someone needing our sympathy - this is done by explaining the incident in Lanturn Yard to us before anything else. She shows...

Rulers of Russia (1815-1914)

Advantages: N/A
Disadvantages: N/A

...The rulers of Russia preferred repression to reform. How far do you agree with this view of the rulers from 1815-1914? Many a historian have commented about this era to be the era of repression are reform and it was exactly that as Russia's rulers aimed to change the nation. Repression was greatly seen, as the secret police existed in Russia throughout this entire period; reform was also seen under each Tsar, with steps towards modernisation occurring. To answer this question, I shall analyse the political, economical, and social policies of the Tsars and thus, conclude that the rulers of Russia preferred repression to reform. In the political sphere, Alexander II was seen to have been a man who really wanted to make a change to Russia: this is a falsehood; previous to the Crimean War, Tsar Alexander II was making no attempt to...

My Final Essay For My Course!!!

Advantages: Maybe Some Info Here You Didnt Know!
Disadvantages: But Maybe Lots You Did!

...As some of you know, I am studying 'Understanding Children' with the Open University. At least, I was! I have just submitted my final essay, and get my results in 6 weeks! OK, so this is no where near as good as some of the other essays on here...but I havent submitted a review for AGES, and this is a good way to hear feedback before I get my official one!! Here goes... How Can Adults Communicate Effectively With Children? Communication is a vital part of a child's up-bringing, as they are always learning, and absorbing what is going on around them. Communication can make a child feel loved, cared for, involved in surroundings, and teach them right from wrong. Communication can be found in the form of physical, verbal, and interactive communication. I am going to examine these within age ranges 0 - 5. New born babies...

An Inspector Calls - My English Essay!

Advantages: Great read
Disadvantages: can get boring.

...My English Essay on "An Inspector Calls" ***************************************************** J.B Priestley?s play ?An Inspector Calls? has as its main theme, social responsibility. The message of the play is developed through the behaviour of the characters. Two contrasting characters are Sheila and Arthur Birling. Sheila has learned to accept responsibility for her actions whereas Arthur refuses to care. The playwright makes the reader feel sympathy for Sheila because he makes her a more likeable character. The play begins with the family celebrating Sheila and Gerald?s engagement. Their party is then ruined by a visit from an Inspector Goole who is investigating the suicide of a young girl named Eva Smith. During his stay, the family all reveal their involvements with Eva and arguments arise. It transpires that Eva was...
