...This film must be Meg Ryan's finest and most entertaining! That wonderful (and famous) scene of her depicting an orgasm in the middle of a coffee shop is a marvel to watch. Billy Crystal is excellent as Ryan's on-off lover and Carrie Fisher does her best as a supporting actor. But it is Meg Ryan who captures the audience, wins them onto her side and carries them along until she and Crystal team up on New Years Eve. Advantages: Strong characters, excellent story.
Disadvantages: Different ending to the book

...Patriot Games is the second of the Tom Clancy Jack Ryan novels to be made into a film. This time round Harrison Ford has replaced Alec Baldwin as the main character, Anne Archer replaces Gates McFadden as his wife and Thora Birch takes the role of his daughter Sally. James Earl Jones is back as Admiral Greer of the CIA. The story starts by Jack Ryan thwarting an attack on a member of the Royal Family (this was the Prince of Wales and Diana in the Novel), by a splinter group of the IRA headed by Patrick Bergin and Sean Bean. In the process Bean's character, Sean Miller, is captured and his brother is killed by Ryan. The story follows the trial of Miller and his vow to get revenge on Ryan. ...Saving Private Ryan, a small group of american, second world war soilders set off through Nazi occupied France to track down, Ryan a private who has had all his brothers killed, it is a special mission and one which causes the men searching for him to question the ethics of such a mission and to question their own role in the war. The chief officer searching for Ryan is played by Tom Hanks and again he gives an excellent performance, the rest of the cast is also excellent, incuding Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The film is split into three segments, the first being the horrific normandy landings, the second the search for Ryan and the third the outcome when Ryan is found. What is excellent is the way that war is portrayed as horrific and lifechanging, and certainly not like the old war films where everything is glossed over. A great... Read review

...I recently took a cut-price flight from Dublin to Gatwick with Ryan Air. I booked the flights online at www.ryanair.ie/com. The flights cost approximately £70 STG (online the price will be in punts if you go via the Irish site like l did). The cheapest flight l could get from Belfast to Gatwick was £200 with British European – the 2.5 hr trek from Belfast to Dublin was definitely worth £130. ABOUT RYAN AIR They were established in 1985 with the launch of a daily flight between Waterford Airport to London Gatwick. In the first year, the company’s 57 employee’s carried over 5000 passengers on it s one route. ...It was back in 1994, World Cup fever in the US. At the time, I couldn't believe this DVD would exist, especially Ryan Giggs has always been my all-time hero for both Manchester United and football as a whole. I bought this DVD immediately and watch it as I got back. The DVD plays the whole chapters including Ryan Giggs and Bobby Charlton guiding and teaching basic soccer skills, techniques and set pieces. Then there's the Production Interview section covering Ryan Giggs's interview on his career and the making of this DVD. ...Saving Private Ryan is probably the most realistic war film to come out of Hollywood. With its all star cast including Tom Hanks and directed by Steven Spielberg. The film starts with Private Ryan visiting the memorial graveyard where his comrades from the war were buried. Then suddenly changes to his memory of events. Probably the most realistic portrayal of the beach landings was the start of battle for many young men. As the boats landed bodies were tore apart by German machine gun fire. This 20 minute sequence is not for the squeamish as you see people with limbs blown off and many deaths. The beach was captured by the American forces and finally the true story starts. Advantages: Tom Hanks. Great action. Emotion packed drama.

...Saving Private Ryan is by far one of the best films I have ever seen. the first opening battle scenes were the most amazing, frightening, saddening, real and blistering scenes I have ever seen at the cinema. Stev Spielberg from the word go keeps you enthralled by the total action, plot and storyline. Filled with touching moments, and people getting hit by rounds of bullets, Saving Private Ryan and Spielberg delivers a definate impact on your heart and will make you sit on the edge of your seat long after the film has ended. Matt Damon, who plays Private James Ryan is particulary good but my favourite performance was Tom Hanks who again shows his true quality by playing a role he is unaccustomed to. The film has some terrible gory moments with guts flying everywhere but as the film develops, as does the feeling and characters... Read review
