Good all rounder of a safety gate

Advantages: wider than average gates, looks good, sturdy, easy to fit, cheap
Disadvantages: hard to open one-handed, trip bar gets in the way

...When my baby started to crawl, I started to research into safety gates so that I knew I was getting the best thing for my money and the most suitable for what I needed. I settled on one of these Lindam Easy Fit Plus Gates for the bottom of my stairs, and I chose a different one for the top. I was rather restricted in choice of safety gates due to the width of my staircase being rather larger than average. I chose this gate because it fitted within my price range, was wide enough for the gap and looked like it was going to be simple to use, combined with it being the winner of various baby safety awards, I decided that it was the right gate for me. Review of Lindam Easy Fit Plus Gate

Excellent M & P pressure fit safety gate

Advantages: easy to fit and use, very secure
Disadvantages: haven't come across any yet!

...I recently purchased this safety gate for my nursery doorway, after leaving my 9 month old daughter alone in the nursery for 5 minutes, where I thought she was completely safe, only to come back and find her on the other side of the room and with no idea how she got there! I looked in both Mothercare and Toys r us and while the gates they had were fine, the samples we could look at were battered and it was unclear which was which. This prompted a trip to Mamas and Papas, where within 5 minutes I had tried, chosen and bought this safety gate and the staff had put it in the car for me (always a bonus!). It cost £29.99, so was slightly more expensive than the others we had looked at but worth it. ...I bought this when I had my baby as it was apparently the best on the market and I really can't find fault with it at all it has been the most reliable of our baby products and can't rate it highly enough. This car seat is different from others as it is suitable for up to 9 months whilst the majority of others are just up to 6 months. The seat is well padded and has a 'head hugger' so it is safer for newborns. This headhugger can then be removed once your baby is big enough. The straps also can be adjusted once your baby grows so that it is still safe and comfortable. The straps are easy to use- at first they were fiddly but once you have the hang of them then you know what you're doing they're easy! once you have strapped your baby in you then pull on the straps to make them tight so that your baby is safetly in place...

Before buying a stair gate, read this op

Advantages: no. 1 safety, difficult operating mechanism for children to use
Disadvantages: none that I can think of

...When I moved into my new home the only thing I was unsure of was the fact it had split level bedrooms, the master being downstairs and the smaller upstairs. Considering there was just no way I could fit a double bed in the upstairs room after weighing up all options and what ifs to do with my daughter being upstairs with a gate fixed or downstairs and near to the front door and easy walk through access to the rest of the house including kitchen! I decided I had no option but to hunt around for a top of the range safety gate that wouldn't let me down so that I could rest at night knowing she was safe upstairs. I did at first buy an extending gate as the opening to the top of my stairs is wider than average as it has a large step at the top which you have to turn right off of to step onto the landing but I didn't feel at all...

Brilliant infant car seat

Advantages: Excellent for safety, comfort and totally practical
Disadvantages: no negatives for this product

...I used this for my daughter and used it from birth right through to the upper weight limit which is actually higher than most other car seats in this category. She always seemed so content in it and happily napped when travelling. The sun canopy is excellent, great for protecting the baby when driving and carrying about. Sun canopy also stores away easily when not in use, remaining attatched but out for the way. I also bought the easybase which made loading and unloading baby from car very quick and easy - especially when its raining which it so often does here. Also purchased mosquito net & Raincover both excellent purchases and in the UK I certainly needed them. I liked the fact that there were internal pads that could be removed as she grew to enable more comfort and space for her within the seat. Covers are easily removed for washing...

...I needed something to stop my puppy from tearing upstairs and eating my shoes and the cat's food, but didn't want to strat drilling holes in my 19th century stair post or walls. I looked at various stair gates online but without seeing them in the flesh, couldn't assess the size of the opening - a friend has one that only a supermodel could get through! Luckliy there is a Mothercare not too far away so I looked at what they had to offer. Although there wasn't one made up on display, a very helpful member of staff took one out of its box so that I could see the complete style. The gate is white metal, so blends in with most surroundings, and has just a bar at the bottom rather than a step which can be difficult to negotiate. ...I bought two Lindam Alarmed Safety gates from Boots online at £24.99. Check their site regularly as they often have offers for free delivery or extra Advantage card points on baby items. The gates arrived well packaged and with easy to follow instructions. FIXING IT TO THE WALL These gates can be fixed to the wall by adjusting the four pressure "bars" they come with. Lindam's advice - for extra safety - is to secure the two top pressure points to the wall by using screws (included in the package). Personally I have only used these screws for the gate at the top of the stairs for extra safety as, once fitted, the gate is pretty sturdy. Now my baby is safe again!

...Sky (my daughter) has been walking for a bit now but has only really just started to properly run away from me and head for the stairs! Wee nightmare that she is!!! So i thought it best to buy some stairgates and we nearly had an accident while she was standing at the top of the stairs waving to her daddy at the bottom and nearly ended up at the bottom herself! Price We didn't want to spend alot of money on the stair gates as we had to buy two, one for the top and one for the bottom, and it had to be the wide ones as my stairs are quite wide. I really couldn't justify spending £100 on one gate! So these seemed a good choice. They were £17.99 each from Argos which i think is really good value for money. Packaging The packaging wasn't anything fancy, but that really didn't bother me as we all know what hapens...
