Grow Sage. It's Lovely!

Advantages: Attractive plant, choice of colours, tastes and smells nice.
Disadvantages: Can get untidy if neglected

...Sage is the first herb I ever grew and it's still one of my favourites. I like it because it has several different uses, the most important being it just looks really good in the garden. I grow four different coloured sages in my garden. The plain green sage is the best known one, most often recommended for using in the kitchen. Red sage is the one I grow most of. The leaves are a deep purple to dusky red, then there's variegated sage with pretty, bright green leaves splashed in random patterns of primrose yellow and, finally, the most ornamental of all of them is tricolour sage. The leaves are outlined with purple and have markings of cream, green and pink. They all look wonderful and smell exactly the same. Don't just grow them as a herb. Plant some into your borders where, I find, many people don't recognise them as herbs...

Advantages: Very pretty foliage plant with a compact habit
Disadvantages: can go thin in the middle. It should be replaced every few years to keep it under control.

...Sage is a small shrubby herb which can be found with different variegated forms which include golden sage and tricolor sage (red and green and white). Most have small blue flowers, but it is the foliage which is the useful part of the plant. Most garden centres have two or three of the different shrubby varieties, you can choose which one provides the effect you want. The best for cooking is the plain green sage as this has the most aromatic oils. If you buy a small plant it is really just a rooted cutting. Plant it in a sunny open spot and watch it grow. It will develop over the summer into a small woody shrub, about 12 inches high and the same across. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead

...My Tricolor sage plant was looking way past its best; it was about 4 or so years old, rather woody and about 3 feet high. I had bought it as a small plant from a garden centre for a couple of pounds. I had certainly had my moneys worth from this plant so I took some cuttings in the autumn which is supposed to be very easy to do. Unfortunately the strong winds of a couple of weeks ago blew down a garden fence panel and many of the pots and young plants that were nearby were either squashed or were blown all across the garden. To cut a long story short I shall now have to restock my sage from a garden centre.
