WHAT'S A 'FINISTERRE'?

Advantages: Some good songs, good vocals throughout
Disadvantages: Poor quality control, disjointed, no cohesion

...After a career of perennial underachievement and mainstream neglect, Saint Etienne (Bob Stanley, Pete Wiggs & Sarah Cracknell) returned to the shadowy corners of the limelight with 'Finisterre'. Apparently, 'Finisterre' means the end of the world. Or so I am told. 'Action', which opens the album, wastes no time in sucking you in with a fun, catchy and quirky electro-pop groove. Sarah Cracknell's vocals are truly gorgeous on this number, while the plinky-plunky electronica through which Saint Etienne have made their name is of the highest standard. The song is evocative of classic Saint Etienne, masters of dreamy, fuzzy pop. 'Amateur' has a more rocky influence, about as rocky as a band like Saint Etienne can get, perhaps. ...Etienne Dumont/Champagne Yes shocked and most pleased champagne from France that can be rated! Some say lack luster with no body but shock and horrors drinkable affordable and complexly blows away the much loved over rated Moet Chardon in the similar price range. French corporations sell by name, this sparkling delivers by enjoyment. It can actually be compared to a South African Brut, not in the Graeme Beck league but equally splendant amongst its fellow budget wines. Super fizzy and what you would expect when poring the fabled Champagne region whistle wetter. A bottle to admire NO! But good looking enough for those discernable guests. ...Saints Row 2 is a great game but I feel the game was messed up by the end of the first game, basically at the end you get blown up on a ship, then the developers decided they would make a second game but wait, your characters dead, I know lets say he miraculously survived and is recovering in prison, yeah and while we're at it lets modify all the other characters to make it look like some times passed by, no not all that great. I must say though this is evened out by the fact that new gangs have taken over whilst you were in prison and the cities a wreck, yep typical gangster games!
