...The X52 Flight Control System is a highly configurable HOTAS (Hands on Throttle and Stick controller. Honey I shrunk the Joystick

Advantages: Neat fold away design, costs peanuts
Disadvantages: Not exactly crammed with features

...I actually bought my ST90 whilst on a school trip in New York. In a little computer store opposite Macy's as it happens, but that's beside the point. Prior to purchasing this ST90, I only had its poor brother, the ST50, which had served me well, and showed that Saitek designed and constructer very sturdy little joysticks. I had used the '50' in all sorts of situations - a keen driving sim fan, it had been especially useful for use as a gearstick, pushing and pulling to change gears. When I had got bored of burning virtual rubber, the little hunk of black plastic was more than happy to jump straight into the role of flight simulator joystick, and performed equally as well in such a role. ...The Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System is state of the art in flight control systems. As a frequent user of flight simulator the saitek X52 has made my flying even more enjoyable with the control smoothness and joystick re-centereing. In total the amount of different switches is 30, however as there are three mode settings you can have up to 90 button configurations. Installation is quick and simple, and runs as soon as connected via USB. In total with both the throttle and joystick there are 7 axis instead of the usual 3/4 on older joysticks. The metal material on both the throttle and joystick gives a sense of proffesionalism and the rubberised surface on the throttle and joystick handle give a good firm grip. ...Hi. Well, I bought this Joystick due to its funky looks and small price tag. From the writing on the box - "Ultimate Performance" - I guessed it coudnt be that bad? .... Its times like this you realise just how wrong you can be. I bourght the joystick from a local Computer dealer for the measely some of £13.99. Eager to try it out, I drove home and plugged it straight into the computer. To my surprise, windows XP Picked it up instantly requiring no software instillation. I Found this feature to be good as it saved alot of messing about and wasted little time. Once plugged in, I proceeded to Calibrate the joystick, This was also very easy and within 5 minutes, My joystick was Ready for action. Now, The Problems :S.... A lot of bang for your buck from Saitek

Advantages: Customisability, 12 buttons, looks, price, recalibrations few and far between
Disadvantages: Throttle in a funny place, hand support uncomfortable

...I've had a number of Logitech and Saitek joysticks over the years and while the Logitechs are good, nothing beats Saitek for affordability and reliability in my opinion. The Evo is very, very pretty to look at (despite a friend's insistence it looks like the spaceships in the 50's War of the Worlds movie). Brushed stainless steel panels, good sized black buttons that are numbered - an important feature often overlooked. Chunky metal screws, trigger at a good angle, a point of view hatswitch nestled between the main thumb accessed buttons and a chunky hand support that can be moved depending on the size of your hand. Plug the thing in and the 6 buttons on the base light up as well as the small "Evo" panel on the top of the joystick. ...Until recently I have been using the Saitek cyborg 3d digital stick. I was impressed by this stick which is why when that one wore out that i decided to buy saitek again. This is currently the top of the range flight stick made by saitek - replacing the X45 permutations previously on offer. At first look there are an overwhelming number of buttons on the two part controller. However they are easy to use bacause they have been well spaced and well positions. The two trigger controls are useful in games with more than one sort of weapon. The triggers are sturdy and are not slack - meaning that you cannot mispress them easily. The stick is easy to hold thanks to its ergonomic design, especially in the case of the throttle control.
