Salomon ST80 limited edition
Advantages: Good looks, great price, great overall performance.
Disadvantages: Only available in one size (8.5 UK).
...Last year (2000) Salomon announced the release of two new skates, the ST90 and the ST80. For some reason Salomon decided to scrap production of the ST80 and released the ST70 (a cheaper model) instead. Last summer Salomon decided to sell off all of there sample models of the ST80 so now these samples are available.
Since these are sample skates they were only ever made in one size (uk 8.5) so if this size is too large or too small for you then forget about buying these skates as riding wrongly sized skates can be detrimental to the health of your feet.
Out of the box these skates look amazing. The cool blue-grey colour used for the boot is definitely the most aesthetically pleasing of on any of the recent Salomon skates. This is highlighted by the white frame which gives the skates a very clean, stylish appearance.
These skates...

ride like aaron...
Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: wheels a tad shonky
...okay the Salomon Feinberg pro-model.
Well i guess if your reading this then you know who the hell aaron feinberg is huh? well like him or not, hes got a pro-skate.
If you are at all familiar with the previous model of salomon agressive skates then you will know that not much has changed appearance-wise with these new beauties. Keeping with the individual boot mould, they have chosen to beef up the specifications of the skate instead. So here is whats new on these new blades.
THE UFS SYSTEM FRAME. now the soul plate is a seperate piece that attatches onto the frame. This is a move by salomon to forge the way forward with frane standardisation, making the frane marjet more competitive, resulting in more compatibility therefore better prices for consumers.
On the grind the soul was impressively fast, having had a pair of K2 250's on my...

these shoes are made for walking
Advantages: long lasting, ideal changing weather
Disadvantages: you get so used to wearing them you don't like going out in your heels!
...These are the third pair of Salomon shoes I?ve owned and I don?t think I will ever buy a different brand of walking shoe again. I live in a hilly area and don?t have a car and therefore do a lot of walking, not only are they incredibly comfortable but they keep my feet dry in the wettest of weather but at the same time circulate air and therefore I?ve never had the ?smelly trainer? problem. Basically they are warm and dry in winter and cool in the summer.
As well as the everyday use mentioned above I?ve also wear them for more challenging walking, for example coastal path walks.
My last pair lasted over three years with consistent use but not until the very end did they show any sign of their age.
I also, and I know this is a very personal preference, find them much more attractive than a normal trainer....

Smooth
Advantages: smooth and tough
Disadvantages: £600
...The xcr 4000 I drive is the smoothest fully suspended MTB I have ever had the good fortune to ride. It is the I drive system that gives this bike a long travel suspension ride that moves well and is clever enough not to sap any of your forward energy as you ride. I have used this bike on road and off road in both the dry and wet and the I drive has never let me down.
The price you pay includes shimano deore chainset and shift. judy front shocks and vanilla fox rear.
The package is strong yet light and is therefore excellent value.
The balance of the bike is spot on. It is the comfort of the bike that will sell it to most.
If you only have £600 to spend on a mountain Bike then this is the best value you will find....

Hardwearing UFS skate
Advantages: UFS, long lasting, cheap.
Disadvantages: ?
...The Salomon st10 is one of the new range of UFS (Universal Frame System) skates released by Salomon just before Christmas 2001. The st10 is the budget skate which they say as aimed at beginner to intermediate skaters and they cost £140.
Looking at the skate there don't seem to be many differences between these and the previously released Feinburgs other than the colours and the wheel set-up. The skates come with a nice looking blue cuff and liner, white soul plates and black salomon UFS frames. The salomon liner is one of the most comfortable and long lasting liners around. The liner features coolfit so once you've worn them a few times the mold to the shape of your feet making them much more comfortable.
The wheel set-up features a nice fast rolling set-up of salomons own ST 56mm/88a wheels with a nice set of ABEC 3 bearings...

The Greatest Skis in the World
Advantages: Fun, fun, fun
Disadvantages: None
...I will never ski on any other ski than these. I love them to pieces.
In the 1999/2000 season, Salomon intrigued the ski market by introducing the first twin-tip ski for the consumer. A twin-tip ski is one that is raised at both the tip and the tail, allowing the skier to ski backwards as well as forwards. These skis heralded a revolution in the ski industry, which other ski manufacturers have joined.
Despite the influx of twin-tip skis in the 2000/2001 season, the Salomon 1080s are seen by many people as being the only ski of choice.
As an amateur freeride skier, I can't get enough of them. The 1080 has given me a new lease of life over the whole mountain. When jumping, I now have the option of landing or taking off backwards, without fear of having the tails of my skis jam into the snow and me ending up in a heap...

The original freeride skis
Advantages: Ease of turning, handling, style, following.
Disadvantages: None I can think of.
...I go to Sandown ski club ever week, and I always try to get the Salomon X-Screams. They are incredibly easy to turn, have a nice carving action, and are probably one of the best skis around. They have a huge free-ride following, and are used by beginners and experts alike. They are the skis by which all others are judged. The newer X-screams have the Prolink arms 'to guarantee ski/snow contact'. Wether it actually works is another matter... but it sounds and looks cool!
So basically, these skis will suit anyone, especially those who are looking to improve their turning and confidence, and want to learn how to carve easily.
Excellent skis!...

expert low's the way to go!
Advantages: Comfortable, quick to break in
Disadvantages: not waterproof, not breathable
...I work in a outdoor shop but I'm not a very outdoorsy person, I'm really fussy when it comes to footwear, and wouldn't really wear walking shoes or boots unless I really have to, Climbing a mountain for example. That was untill the Salomon expert lows came in delivery one day, walking shoes are normally bulky looking and not at all attractive but these are really nice, my ones are light grey, dark grey and black, they have mesh panels and suede panels with a rubber rand around the toe.
The mesh panels are for breathabilitly, but they don't have a breathable or wickable lining, so my feet do get quite hot but a pair of wicking socks like coolmax normally sort that out, the downside of the mesh is that if it rains the water gets in easy as they don't have a waterproof lining, spraying them will make them resistant to water but stepping in...
