Advantages: Very friendly and helpful staff Lovely pools

...We stayed at the Calypso Hotel in Salou for a 7night trip. On our arrival (10pm) we were politely dealt with by the reception staff. We were put on the top floor of the older building (This was OK for myself and my husband and 12 month old baba , but I wouldn't want to stay on this floor with young children. The lifts were good, and they always worked, and even though they only held 4 people, we didn't have to wait long. Our room was way too small really, and it had very dated furniture and an uncomfortable bed. We had lots of storage space for clothes etc. This room slept 4, but I wouldn't want to stay in it with any more than 2 people. The bathroom was brilliant, and it was very very clean. The shower was excellent, and we were supplied with clean towels and toilet rolls every day. I wish I could have a shower as powerful as...

Hotel Belvedere Salou A good 3*

Advantages: Plenty to keep kids happy
Disadvantages: some of the hotels behind were a bit of an eye-sore

HOTEL CALYPSO- SALOU

Advantages: Clean, tidy, drink prices, food (aint that bad), entertainment-day (games), Thomson kids club, 4 pools
Disadvantages: Positon in town, entertainment on evening (mimed), lots of school parties

...for excursions when alot cheaper to do it yourself like we did. Barcelona is only 11 euros on train but station is otherside of Salou from this hotel. Supermarket round the corner is very cheap for basics we bought booze and sat on our balcony as 2 lite of coke for 1.73 euros and 1 litr bacardi was only 6 euros. Snacks by the pool are reasonably priced. Hotel is very very clean and tidy, maid service very good. Beds are just fold up camp beds which makelot of noise (if you know what I mean) no good if kids sharing ur room they\'ll wake up ours were in rooom next door and still woke up. For a cheap bargain would stay again we paid £616 for week HB for 2 adults and 2 children....

Truth about Venecia Park Hotel In Salou

...This is a honest review from a travel agent. I have just returned from a 14 night stay at the Venecia Park Hotel in Salou. I will write this in as much detail as I possibly can and hope this will be very helpful to anyone thinking of going to this hotel. Flight from the uk was very convenient as only took 2 hours 15 mins. On arrival at Reus Airport we decided to get a taxi from outside the main terminal building which was very quick and easy to do and only cost 30 euros. The taxis were waiting and it took approx 15 minutes to get to hotel. Much quicker than on the transfer buses. RECEPTION. Upon arrival we were checked in very quickly by a friendly, cheerful, helpful member of staff. Advantages: Plenty to do in the hotel
Disadvantages: Nearest beach about a mile away

...of dedicated and friendly players, with additional items from touring dancers and musicians. There are also three bars to choose from, the Garden bar being the last to close at 2a.m.. Personally, I found the pool a little on the small side, considering how far the beach was. Nearest one was about a mile from the hotel over a hilly road, something to consider if any of your party have walking difficulties (we managed to borrow a wheelchair from the hotel for one of our party). Shops and bars are within easy walking distance, and we found the nearest minimarket just around the corner, was one of the cheapest for our requirements. All in all, a very good holiday in a very clean, friendly hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, but moreso to families with young children, as they are very well looked after and encouraged to join in...

Golden Donaire Park hotel, La PIneda, Salou

Advantages: location near beach ... transfer from airport ... kid friendly
Disadvantages: No laundry service ... no fridge or tea making facility in room

...Having just returned from an early season (early May 2009) week at the Donaire park, La Pineda with our 3 year old I would definately recommend this hotel for families with younger kids but it would also be a great base for anyone who wants to visit the areas around Salou and Barcelona. there were organised trips to go on and a regular bus service or coach and rail services available. The weather was a bit cloudy but mostly sunny but this didn't stop us enjoying our time there. Our little girl loved the kids tots club sessions and daily evening mini disco's started at 8:30pm (the entertainment staff were great and kept all the kids entertained with their dance moves and sing-along routines). ******THE SUN ALWAYS SHINE IN SALOU******

Advantages: Excellent value for money, brilliant location & good sized rooms
Disadvantages: Maids didnt change beds & didnt see them clean pool

...on the Costa Dorada about 20mins away from Salou. We only visited Salou once on our holiday & we couldn't remember it but my mum said it was nice & I had heard that it had good nightlife, a theme park & 2 water parks. Perfect the destination was chosen. Then out of curiosity I logged on to Ryanair's website & couldn't believe what I was seeing Stansted to Reus 99p obviously I knew that wouldn't be the price but I knew it would be cheap. With all the taxes & baggage fees it came to £32 return. Bargain! Now I had to find a hotel I searched all the usual hotel search engines & I came across a few which seemed the cheapest by about £10 on a website called Go Spain which I wasn't familiar with so I wasn't confident booking with them. So for my peace of mind I opted for Alpharooms.co.uk, which I knew, were respectable & were only around £10 more expensive...

Our Hell In Hotel Venecia Park Salou

...Our holiday here was the worst holiday we have ever experienced. Myself my wife and our two year old daughter were treated dreadfuully by the staff. The pool was filthy, scum and dirt seen floating on the top and when we asked if it could be cleaned we were told that it was not high season and that there were other hotels with pools nearby that we could use. Being rather tied to the hotel of an evenng with having a small child, we sat in the bar and being the only one of three couples, were still surprised when we were told that they were closing early - it was 8pm! Food was not changed at all during the day at the buffet and being all inclusive, we found we have no choice but to eat out or suffer making ourselves and our daughter ill. Now I know it was April but if they take your money, you expect to have the bare necessities laid...

Salou, Hotel Los Angeles

Advantages: Beach, Scenery, Monday Salou Market, Close to Barcelona, Cheap (there and presents to bring back)
Disadvantages: Some people - don't go if you don't like being pushed out of the way by locals!

...seems to be your normal theme park - you'll know then what you're letting yourself in for. The beaches were stunning, the water lovely and clear, and there's so much to say about Salou there isn't the space! It is one of the best holidays I've been on and I would definitely go again. It's so close the journey is nothing, and you can get traditional (Oily!) Spanish food or fish and chips if you're that way inclined. We went to Flowers Scottish pub across from our hotel, and the Happy Drinker by the beach (the small cove one if you're that way) shows English films if that's how you like to spend your holiday. It's right by the beach so everyone else can get out and enjoy being abroad!!!...

Had a fantastic holiday at this hotel

Advantages: superb food, location next to beach size of rooms, air conditioning, friendly staff
Disadvantages: abundence of children at high season, no fridges in rooms

...Contrary to what the name on 'ciao' says the Golden Donaire Park is actually in the town of La Pineda just outside Salou. After seeing the hotel in the Thompson Skytours brouchure, I fell in love. From what I could see from the pictures the hotel was right on the sea front, and I wasn't disapointed when I arrived. ON ARRIVAL: Our flight times had been changed so me and my boyfriend arrived at the hotel earlier than expeceted. The room wasn't ready but the pleasent lady on recepetion told us it would be only another hour and offered to put out luggage in the secure luggage room in reception. We went and sat in the little snack bar area at the front of the hotel overlooking the sea and had a drink. ( Beer 1,40 euros, Lemonade 1,55 euros) ROOM: We were room 616 ( there are 8 floors in total) and were pleased to be so high up...
