Brilliance in a bag
Review of Samsonite 400 Series ICT Ict Backpack 45 by
chewy06
Advantages: Large size, simple design, amazingly compartmentalized
Disadvantages: Opening of wallet compartment may be inconvenient
...Of the numerous backpacks I have used, this one certainly stands out. What caught my eye most was it's size, compartments and simplicity in style.
When searching for a new backpack, I wanted one which was large enough for my folders and books, and with useful compartments for organisation. This bag answered all my needs with two large zipped compartments. The front compartment has a zipped space for wallets(or keys, makeup, chocolate etc), a space for a music player, 2 smaller compartments for books. There is also a hidden slot for cards within one of the smaller compartments. The only downside is the way the zipped space is opened which sometimes causes the items I put in it to fall into the bag.
The other large compartment is divided into 2 sections, with a secured section for 1 laptop(or anything that fits in it, really). The other...

Sporty and Smart at the same time
Review of Targus Sport Deluxe Notebook Backpac by
pompey_jon
Advantages: Looks good, protects my laptop, Comfortable
Disadvantages: Internal capacity could be greater
...there standard laptop cases (albeit many years ago). They do have a reputation for good quality and an acceptable price (against Samsonite who are renowned for quality but at a price!)
Targus make this Sports Deluxe version as well as a normal Sports version. They do appear similar but I decided on the sports version as I wanted more storage space when travelling so I went for the sports version. I also think the deluxe version looks better and at £35 (ex. vat) was a good buy.
************************The Bag*****************************
The bag itself is solidly constructed with I guess some type of very durable nylon body. The main body of the bag is black with some silver/grey areas (which appear to be reflective so useful if you ride with this backpack). There is a large area at the bottom of the bag which appears to be made from more...

SAMSONITE
Review of Samsonite Suitcases by
yingli.lim
Advantages: quality
Disadvantages: cost
...If you want something that's going to last you forever and if you want to get quality luggage, go for SAMSONITE. You may be thinking that you are going to be spending a bomb on something that is totally uneccessary a total peripheral to your travels but let me tell you that investing in a samsonite is going to save you more moeny than you think. I only wish I could have gotten mine a little earlier just to save more money. The last trip I took to London was three years ago and I had to lug this huge luggage around that first of all did not look glamorous at all and secondly had a detached wheel in just a matter of 17 minutes of being dragged across the streets of London from Mansion House up to the YHA opposite St Paul's cathedral. I was totally disgusted. What the samosonait has done for me is been loyal in not falling apart at times...

Four Wheels Zero Effort!
Review of Samsonite Sahora Saho Spin 77 by
stevNI
Advantages: 4 Wheel Spinner, Looks great
Disadvantages: Slightly too heavy
...A truly brilliant case, the Samsonite Sahora not only looks good but drives great! My favourite feature is the four multi-directional spinner wheels which rotate to allow upright rolling in any direction. The Sahora 77cm costs £87.50 in an outlet store and around £125 in the high street. The case holds 110 litres and is ideal for 7 or more days.
On first inspection Sahora seems to be a completely soft sided case. However on closer inspection it it visible that it is a hybrid between a hard and soft suitcase. The case has hard ABS corners which look like material but have the strength of a hard case. Thus giving Sahora the strength and durability of a hard case but the look and safistication of a soft case.
The Main compartment is closed by a zipper and the case is pulled along by a retractable handle with push button lock that extends...

Samsonite Pop Up Bubble Travel Cot
Review of Samsonite Pop-up Bubble Travel Cot by
FunkyFaulkner
Advantages: Lightweight, compact and great value for money
Disadvantages: Nothing that can not be overcome easily
...This product follows on from the Samsonite Pop-Up Travel Cot (which I have also reviewed). It is a brilliant, innovative product and was one of the first of its kind on the market. It has won various awards including the Baby Gear Gold Award 2005 and the Mother & Baby Gold Award Best Travel Item 2005/6, which it fully deserves.
When our daughter became too large for the Samsonite Pop-Up Travel Cot (she was just over 8 months), our first port of call, when looking to 'up-grade' , was the Samsonite Pop-Up Bubble Travel Cot (suitable from 6 to 18 months, although some sites say from 0 to 18 months). We had found the Travel Cot so useful and convenient while she was a small baby that it made sense to look at the next product in the Samsonite range.
We were keen to avoid conventional/traditional travel cots as they a) tend...

Samsonite Pop Up Travel Cot
Review of Samsonite pop-up travel cot deluxe by
FunkyFaulkner
Advantages: Extremely small, lightweight and easy to use
Disadvantages: Nothing that can not be overcome easily
...This is the first of two products in the Samsonite Travel Cot range and it leads on to the Samsonite Pop Up Bubble Travel Cot (which I have also reviewed). It is a brilliant, pioneering product and was the first of its kind on the market when I bought it while still pregnant with my first child in 2003/04.
The Samsonite Pop Up Travel Cot is available in three colours - pink and blue in the standard model and stone in the deluxe model. The standard models are made of cotton and nylon, although the baby only lies on cotton, with the main outer body being made of the easily cleaned nylon while the deluxe model is all cotton except the nylon mosquito net - this does seem to make it slightly cooler but more difficult to clean any stains.
I chose this travel cot over more traditional ones based purely on it's size when folded up - its...

A backpack for travellers rather then trekers!
Review of Vango Planet Traveller 70+20 by
jennyf16
Advantages: packed full of features
Disadvantages: cost
...I bought this bag after it was reduced and seemed a good size capacity. After taking it home and using it properly for a trial run before a round the world trip I realised exactly how many features it has.
The bag is a 70l main backpack with a 20l day pack that attaches via zip to the main bag so you can carry both at once. The size is ideal, as 20l is what most kids have for a school/college bag and 70l will fit a whoel girls wardrobe in for 3 months - pretty impressie and it's still under the airlines weight limit! The only problem being picking it up!
For security you can have the big bag pack on your back and the small backpack can then attach to the straps of the big backpack so you've got all your personal/valuable documents within easy reach and within sight.
Unlike most travellers backpacks this one isn't top loading...

Backpacker central of Khao San Road
Review of D&D Inn, Bangkok by
Trav3ller
Advantages: Good prices, good rooms, pool on the roof.
Disadvantages: Not good for people who don't like the backpacker scene.
...The D & D is geared towards backpackers and flashpackers, and offers pretty good value rooms for THB 550 and upwards, although some of the rooms don't have windows.
One of the features is the swimming pool on the roof, which gives good views of the Khao San Road.
Their webiste and online booking system isn't the best, although I have heard things are getting better, people were making bookings and not getting their room because they had given it to another customer. I didn't have this problem, I walked right in and asked for a room.
They offer traditional backpacker rooms, and superior rooms with tv, hot water e.t.c...
The location is great for Khao San - right in the middle of all the action.
All in all, if you're a backpacker out for the backpacker experience, go for it, if you like boutique style hotels, this isn't for you at all....

Acer TravelMate 3222WXMi; the Lay Person's Guide
Review of Acer TravelMate 3222WXMi - Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
mandakins888
Advantages: Easy to use, does what it says on the tin
Disadvantages: Keyboard design is awkward for some
...Aero mush!
I use it mainly for surfing the net and for word processing, for which it is more than adequate. It isn't too big or heavy which makes it easy to carry around the house or out and about (for this I would recommend Samsonite's range of laptop backpacks. The one I have doesn't look like it's for a laptop so it doesn't scream "steal me!" at anyone who sees it, and it was very reasonably priced).
I have selected 'satisfactory' for the instruction manual in the criteria options because it doesn't give 'not applicable' as an option. It is so easy to use that I have never looked at the instruction manual - I don't even know what it looks like! The machine was set up for me by the company it was bought from and I haven't needed to do anything else with it since that would require any instructions (although admittedly if I did then I...

Casio Exilim EX-Z40 Fantastic
Review of Casio Exilim EX-Z40 by
astonmartin1
Advantages: Amazing pictures, compact, great movies.
Disadvantages: Memory card too small, requires larger memory card to be purchased.
...This is a fantastic camera, when it was bonfire night this year (2005) I took my camera and initially tried taking some photographs of the fireworks however this didn't work as I kept taking too late, I then decided to make a movie and the film came out absolutely brilliantly, even at night!!! Just been taking some pictures of some snow scenes where I live and they have turned out superbly.
It is the best camera I have ever had and would not change it for anything else!!
The fact that the camera is so compact allows me to take it with me everywhere, so I can always catch those special moments where I used to think "oh I wish I had my camera with me". I can either pop it in my handbag or I can fasten it onto my belt with the carry case I bought for it made by Samsonite.
One slight drawback is that it occasionally switches its self...
