Snappy happy with the Samsung Digimax Duo camera

Disadvantages: no screen, no add on memoery, older model so hard to find

...Ok I am now going to go into unexplored territory today by telling you all about the digital camera I have use of. It is not mine, it is my boyfriend?s camera and he got it for Christmas two Christmases ago. I use it quite a lot so feel I am able to comment on it. The model in question is the Samsung Digimax 50 Duo camera. What is it? It is a fairly simple digital camera which is so easy to work. It is also a lovely compact size being only 3.6x2.6x1.4 inches and weighing only 4.2oz.4 so it is easy to carry around with you. It can also be used as a low resolution webcam with 12 images per minute. However I have never used it for this purpose so can not comment on this. It's all those extra features which make the 410 so versatile, the 3x optical zoom (there's also 2x digital zoom), macro mode , movie mode, the timer etc. Like most digital cameras, the price has been slowly falling. We paid £300 in December 2002. Although there are many other digital cameras with more Megapixels, bigger zooming capabilities, this camera is still regularly used and I have no intention of purchasing another anytime soon. Poor picture quality

Advantages: Cheap, small.
Disadvantages: Average picture and poor video audio, fiddly USB connector, poorly placed zoom lever.

...I bought this camera as a cheap third camera to carry around all the time. With this review, I compared the samsung to another compact I have, the casio exilim Z750, note this is an older 7.2 megapixel camera. For serious stuff I use my Nikon DSLRs. Picture quality On the whole, very average quality outdoors and the camera doesn't handle differences with light and dark too well, e.g. very bright sun and dark shadow. In this case, the camera overexposes and produces unbalanced pictures. It does this even in normal light conditions. The colours are also washed out. Not impressed. After a few weeks of ownership and comparison with the casio, it definitely has poor quality. To be fair though, the casio compact whilst older was a lot more expensive. Usability I walked around the garden and house taking identical pictures...
