Snappy happy with the Samsung Digimax Duo camera

Advantages: size, battery life
Disadvantages: no screen, no add on memoery, older model so hard to find

...Ok I am now going to go into unexplored territory today by telling you all about the digital camera I have use of. It is not mine, it is my boyfriend?s camera and he got it for Christmas two Christmases ago. I use it quite a lot so feel I am able to comment on it. The model in question is the Samsung Digimax 50 Duo camera. What is it? It is a fairly simple digital camera which is so easy to work. It is also a lovely compact size being only 3.6x2.6x1.4 inches and weighing only 4.2oz.4 so it is easy to carry around with you. It can also be used as a low resolution webcam with 12 images per minute. However I have never used it for this purpose so can not comment on this. It's all those extra features which make the 410 so versatile, the 3x optical zoom (there's also 2x digital zoom), macro mode , movie mode, the timer etc. Like most digital cameras, the price has been slowly falling. We paid £300 in December 2002. ...I bought one of these from Argos as well, but for the amazing price of £114.99, I also got the Samsung printer for £44.99 and an additional memory card, all for £179.97. Unfortunately the accessory kit that includes the battery charger was out of stock, otherwise I would have had that as well !. This was my first 'serious' digital camera, and it was the price that finally persuaded me to purchase. The camera is very tough and durable, and solidly built. It is a bit heavy for a digital camera in my opinion though, but it's only a minor problem. The picture quality is superb compared to my old Kodak DX3215 and the LCD screen is crystal clear even in bright sunlight. ...the buttons used for deleting photos, for editing then, for changing shooting options and for changing flash, macro, sound etc. There is a hole for a tripod on the bottom of the camera and a USB lead connection area for if you wish to connect the camera to a pc. The bottom right is where the batteries (standard AA) and memory card are housed. The batteries can be used quite quickly, but you can sue rechargeable ones to save money in the long run. The camera uses SD cards and has a small amount of internal memory. The quality of the photographs is very good, for such an inexpensive 8mp camera, I highly recommend this camera. It suits all people, whether they wish to just pick up and use the camera, or for people who wish to take more advanced photographs....
