Plenty of features in the Samsung NV24HD but can be tricky to use

Advantages: Good results, plenty of features for most users. Generally works well.
Disadvantages: Hard to take full advantage of the camera because of the menu system which I found hard to use.

...I bought this camera for my girlfriend who thinks user manuals are only to be used to keep the door open - so it needs to be easy to use. The key feature for me was the HD video recording which seems to work fairly well. For most people however this feature is not going to be enough to provoke a purchase. Like a lot of cameras this one can put put into 'auto' and left to sort itself out when taking a picture. I've found that this is not necessarily going to give the best results. For example the 'child' mode in particular has been well worth checking out, I don't know how it works but it does make taking pictures of over excited children much more successful. ...It's been years since we've taken so many photgraphs, but the picture quality and ease of use of the Samsung Digimax 410 means that you take the camera with you more of the time. It's all those extra features which make the 410 so versatile, the 3x optical zoom (there's also 2x digital zoom), macro mode , movie mode, the timer etc. Like most digital cameras, the price has been slowly falling. We paid £300 in December 2002. Although there are many other digital cameras with more Megapixels, bigger zooming capabilities, this camera is still regularly used and I have no intention of purchasing another anytime soon.
