Samsung TV perfect companion
Review of Samsung DVD-F1080 by
tubster011
Advantages: Size, Upscaling and Sound Quality
Disadvantages: Remote control, menu system keeps forgetting settings...
...This Samsung 1080p DVD player is the perfect companion for any of the latest Samsung LCD and Plasma TV's.
We currently own the Q96 Plasma model and the F1080 fits just under the TV, it is smaller than the stand on the TV. But it has all of the features of the chunkier 1080p dvd players.
Another plus to Samsung customers is that it has the Anynet+ function, meaning you can use the tv remote to control the DVD player. This is suggested as the remote control that you get supplied with the DVD is too small and useless in my view.
There are a few firmware faults with this model, for example it sometimes won't play a DVD on initial startup and you have to restart the player as it just blue screens.
The upscaling quality is good, however I have only my xbox on vga connection to compare it to.
Upscaling quality: 8/10
Connections: 9...

the blu ray seduction masterplan
Review of Samsung BD-P 1000 by
1st2thebar
Advantages: it's blu-ray technology
Disadvantages: slightly overly sensitive
.... Retails for just under £500.00 and is very affordable if you REALLY want it. Going by many past technology fads it probably best to wait for this piece of genius to become slightly more wallet friendly. Let the glitches (not that I saw any) get ironed out and then send it back onto the technology speed dating game.
Here's the science bit......
This Samsung technology also offers backward compatibility, (which is what my girlfriend loves) it lets you enjoy your favourite CDs and DVDs. The BD-P1000 even takes your current DVD library and upconverts it to a near hi-def experience via 720p/1080i and 1080p. The user-friendly graphic interface includes a full-color, hi-def animated menu, (which I love) with features such as advanced subtitle functions, video scene search and informative pop-ups. Two HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface...

Worth it!
Review of Samsung DVD-1080 P 7 by
lordo69
Advantages: Great quality
Disadvantages: Not very advanced interface
...This DVD player is the one that i have in my lounge and is a great one in my eyes and i think i will have it for years to come.
It goes very well with my sony LCD HDready television and was very easy to set up and also very quick.
It plays pretty much anything and has great quality and is very easy to use, i.e. the remote is very simple layout but with most features available.
Plus this dvd player is also a great buy because it is under £100 and plays HD dvds and normal dvds which means it is much better pirced than most others..
If you dont already own a hd dvd player i would say that it is well worth getting on as they have awesome quality and are well worth the money in the long run!...

To prevent the TV appearing too wide, the speakers are at the bottom of the unit, as apposed to the sides. There are 2 speakers in total, each producing 20watts. Now, this doesn't sound much, but I can assure you it is, producing crisp sound, and natural base.

Samsung LE32R86BD
Review of Samsung LE32R86BD by
dharma.roy
Advantages: Very cheap for 32" hdtv
Disadvantages: 720i tv not full hd
...To start with the design is very stylish as is all the samsung models.
But what really catches my eyes is the bring silver frame and it just looks slick.
The price is very cheap for a 32" hdtv display well worth the money.
This tv would be a great buy if u are on a budget or if its for your bed room. but if you want it in your living room and you want the best experience this is not the tv to buy.
If you are one of those people i recomend you dont get this tv as it is only 1366 x 768 and get a tv with full HD which would have resolution of 1920x1080 this would give 1080i wereas this tv is only 720i but can support 1080i as well.
hope this review helps...

Maligned but very capable DVD player
Review of Samsung DVD-HD950 by
NomisG
Advantages: Compatability
Disadvantages: slightly clumsy remote
...Well, I feel the need to weigh in on the defence!
Firstly, everybody talks about the upscaling. It cannot perform miracles. Upscalings main purpose in life is to fill you new big screen. It will not improve the quality - in fact quite the opposite. In laymans terms, your DVD disc contains about 500 lines of information. Your nice shiney new HD TV can display 1080 lines. What to do? Basically, show each line twice (in simple terms). If you connect the Samsung to a standard def TV, the picture is very good and this is the only fair test.
I don't see any of the other reviews mention picture calibration. If you want to get the best from your DVD player (any DVD player) you MUST calibrate it and the TV together. It is a fairly lengthy process and many/most people don't know about it. But you will never see your HD TV at its true potential...

The Future is Blu...
Review of Samsung BD-P1400 by
buyer991
Advantages: Cheap (for Blu-Ray), better than the Sony ones, works well, upgradable
Disadvantages: No DVD+R / +RW playback, no SVCD or VCD playback
...recorders but can't cope with DVD-RW so well and refuses to read DVD+R or DVD+RW discs. A bit of a bind for me as I used a lot of DVD+R discs but as I have to have my DVD/HDD recorder to record stuff (the Samsung BD-P1400 is only a player) that isn't so bad. The Samsung claims to play all normal CD-A (music) and MP3 (data) disks but can't guarantee that all CD-RW discs will work.
Through the component analgue output, the BDP1400 automatically drops down from 1080i output to 576i for DVD playback but when you eject the disc, it stays in 576i mode making the menus look a bit ropey. Happily, if you load a Blu-Ray disc, the resolution snaps back to 1080i by itself. Through the HDMI interface it will drop out of 1080p to 1080i and upscale the DVD.
Rather annoyingly the BD-P1400 can't play VCDs or SVCDs. Believe it or not, even though...

Just A Cut Above Average
Review of Samsung DVD-HD850 by
RelaxToTheMax
Advantages: Gives Top Notch Pictures, Easy To Use
Disadvantages: Remote Has ALOT Of Buttons On It
...I have now had this DVD player since christmas, i thought i might as well buy one as i was also getting one of the HDTV's also from Samsung.
The advantages of this DVD player are as follows:
1. When the DVD player has been connected to a HDTV and a DVD is being played there is a very small increase in the quality of the picture on the screen, but the price at which this DVD player is selling, i had expected there to be a big improvement in picture quality.
2. The DVD itself is very simple to use and to understand (I am not refering to the remote), the settings are very easy to change to improve your viewing e.g. you can change the high-definition pixels to 1080, 720 or 480 which may suit different T.V.'s.
3. The DVD player is multi region meaning that it will play DVD's from all over the world, this is not such a rarity these days...

not bad for the money
Review of Samsung DVD-F1080 by
princesslaura
Advantages: lots of features
Disadvantages: none found so far!
...We seem to get through DVD players in our house like there is no tomorrow. Either they end up with toast stuffed in them or they refuse to play half of our DVDs because there's a speck of dust on them. I think this is either the 3rd or 4th DVD player that we have had to buy in the last few years. What we decided we were after this time was something by a decent company. that didn't cost the Earth and looked fairly robust!
We purchased this DVD player from comet's website, it's priced at £69.99. I like Samsung products in general but hadn't tried a DVD player from them before so we thought we'd give them a go. What really sold it for us was the Divx playback feature.
The dimensions are 50.5x24.0x24.3(H/W/D)cm
This DVD player will play just about anything, DVDs, CDs, VCD, MP3s, CDRW, DVD-R , DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW . However, it does...

Great picture, good all rounder
Review of Samsung LE 37 R 88 BD by
cpennington
Advantages: Very attractive, easy to control
Disadvantages: Sound is the weak link - but not too bad
..., but it is generally more than acceptable. The deep blacks that are traditionally associated with are there on the Samsung. LED screens really have begun to challenge plasma's in this area. This isn't a 'true' HD screen - but don't worry because many 'HD eady' screens are not true HD. This is a 1080i rather than a 1080p - if you need more info look into these specs.
Sound is OK. I would rate it as average, but this doesn't really worry me as if I am watching anything where the sound quality makes a difference I would use seapate amplifiers and speakers for this.
The installation was no trouble at all. The TV has both analogue and digital tuners which quickly set themselves up. Hokking up the cable feed was of course as simple as connecting the scart!
This screen has a LOT of inputs - certainly more than enough for my needs. Two scarts, phonos, 3 HDMI S...
