...Here you have the Samsung DVD-HD860. I can find pretty much only good things about this beauty- and yes physically beauty. It looks brilliant. I currently have this set up to my TV in the living room with a home cinema system attached. Setting it up was very easy. Plug the cable into TV, and then just attach speakers from the home cinema system into the back. For 5.1 surround sound it took around 10 minutes. The instruction where very easy to follow. Advantages: Near HD upscaling at a very cheap price
Disadvantages: No virtual surround sound, not all DVD upscale well

...As soon as I heard about upscaling DVD players I discovered the Samsung HD860 was one of the latest models (2006). As I had purchased an HD compatible plasma it needed to have the best available source I could afford for the money and at £65 this slim and modern looking player was a bargain. The player will output a normal scart signal (composite or RGB) and via the HDMI lead upscale the signal to either 576p, 720p or 1080i respectively (only with an HD TV). What this means if that the clever chip within the box will take the normal 704x576 pixels of the DVD and increase them to near full hd resolution. The results can be simply stunning on a clean or new DVD, older DVD titles do not benefit as much as they contain more noise which does'nt help with the upscaling process. ...the inbuilt DVB tuner is VERY impressive - with my old standalone freeview box I was lucky to pick up 35 stations, but this model is receiving in excess of 50! The remote control is very intuitively laid out, with all of the buttons you would expect and a nice tactile response to button presses - so there should be no jumping to channel 33 when all you want is Corrie street... Picture quality is fantastic and really puts my 37" HD set to shame - looks like I will be seriously considering a Samsung when it comes time to upgrade the lounge equipment. Sexy Samsung!

Advantages: Full HD and sexy

...Samsung TV's are in general excellent. I have another model that is slightly bigger and the experiances I had with that one led me to this one! To give you an over view this is a 22 " Widescreen LCD screen that can be used as a TV or as a Computer monitor. It has a built in DTV tuner (freeview) and is HD compatible. I do not mean the pretend HD either this is full 1080p HD. There is 1080 i which can be classed as HD but 1080p is a fully high definition TV and means you can run a PS3 on it how it was meant to along with HD DVD's, Blueray and HD TV. Samsung's Neat Little Netbook

Advantages: Good performance, Good connectivity options, Good webcam, 160GB HDD, Upgradeable

...button under touchpad - Resolution could be higher VERDICT Overall, I think the Samsung NC10 is an excellent laptop. I like the look of it, the performance, the keyboard, the connectivity options and even the battery life. I would prefer for it to have Draft N wireless and maybe for it to be a bit lighter but those are minor niggles. One thing I would have liked is a higher resolution, even if the 1024 x 600 is perfectly usable, a higher one would give more flexibility in how well certain content is displayed on the laptop. i.e. movies, graphics, etc. Those things aside, I would highly recommend the NC10 or even the newer Samsung netbook models that supercede the NC10 (i.e. NC20). Buy an external DVD drive and you can even use it as a normal laptop as the performance is very good for the price. Thanks for reading!...
