A great budget system.
Review of Samsung HT-X30 by
kris_french
Advantages: Sleek speaker set up, great sound and playback features
Disadvantages: DVD player looks like a 1980s video recorder!
...We have just purchased this system with a 32" Samsung TV. Although at first it was confusing (we have only had Sony products before) we set it up quickly and it is a good looking system. The surround speakers are sleek and well made, easy to hide and have the advantage of (the rear two) going wireless with the purchase of an extra wireless card. The woofer box is large in size but compact enough to remain inconspicuous to the viewer.
The sound actually rivals our Sony system and we have had it up to max (awesome!)
Playback features include Media file (via USB), MP3, DivX. Warning though it does not support the playback of CD-ROM, DVD-ROMs or any other region DVDs. A great system considering the budget price....

Bleeding earlobes!
Review of Samsung HT-XQ 100 by
belgian.waffle
Advantages: crisp audio playback, easy to install, good built quality
Disadvantages: none
...I have always wanted a surround sound system and as a special treat I decided to buy the Samsung HT-XQ 100 for £200 from my brother after he opted to upgrade to a super flash top of the range plasma television that came with a suitably high priced set of kit.
I cannot comment on the instruction manuals as they didn't come with the speakers thanks to my absent minded sibling. What I can vouch for is the ease with which the speakers are hooked up and ready to pound the eardrums.
The system is made up of 6 speaker. 2 are tall as you can see from the product picture and these are placed behind your regular sititng position, with the two smaller speakers sitting in the corners in front of your seating position. The wide speaker sits in front of the television and I have the sub-woofer positioned just above on top of my DVD player...

A treat for the eyes AND the ears!
Review of Samsung HT-UP 30 by
djwill
Advantages: Great sound quality, USB capability, looks good, does nearly every disc on the market
Disadvantages: No phono sound outputs, only 2 external audio inputs, tacky remote, TIME DELAY
...Samsung Surround Sound Review
The Samsung HT-UP30 is second to none in the range of low-budget, good quality, nice looking, average spec. home cinema systems.
Priced at around £150 (at Dixons, Comet or Currys) this is one of the very rare occasions where you get a better deal in the shops rather than online.
PROS:
- The looks are definitely excellent (however, the main unit is quite deep and takes up quite a lot of space).
- Very very good sound quality. (From my personal experience it sounds like it encodes any sound source (whether it be music, TV or dvds) into surround sound, splitting up the separate bass tracks from the treble and mid)
- You can plug in a USB mp3 player and play all the songs through the system as if they were on a CD (eg. Track 01, Track 02 etc.)
- It can take nearly all types of disc: DVD, CD-R, CD+R, Audio...

The Samsung V25 Notebook
Review of Samsung V25 XVC 2800 - P4 2.8 GHz - 15.1" TFT by
sjbates
Advantages: Portable, Powerful, Hundreds of Features
Disadvantages: Not the fastest CPU but it almost is
...I started looking for a laptop/notebook months ago and i've searched hundreds of web sites for a laptop that is both functional and great looking and the Samsung V25 is the only one i could find!
I purchased this laptop from Comet just a few days for a penny short of £1,000 and at the time i was very unsure whether it could really do what i want or not.
When i got the laptop home i first discovered i had far more software than the store had advertised and the day before i went down to buy it i was under the impression that it only had a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive but some advertisement came through for it which also states it has a DVD-RW drive (combo) so i was very impressed.
The speed of the laptop is excellent, its an Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz and to me its just as fast as a Intel P4 3.06 Ghz PC with HT that i have recently helped to built...

The Bedroom Solution!
Review of Samsung HTDB120 by
Deliwan
Advantages: Great quality of sound and picture
Disadvantages: Only enough power for a small room
...The Samsung HT-DB120 is one lovely home cinema system. I myself brought it for my bedroom and it provides more than enough for my medium sized room. When opening the box you get all that you expect: 1 DVD player main central unit, 1 sub woofer, 5 speakers, a scart lead, 1 phono lead, an AM and FM aerial and instructions.
Sound Quality: The system was rated at 150 watts, which for a bedroom or small lounge is perfect. If, however, this is for a larger room I would recommend picking up a more expensive system. The system will play Dolby Digital Pro Logic 2, dts and mp3 sound. So it has all you need to have a great experience from a DVD. The surround sound aspect of the player is great but the rear speakers could really do with a bit more power. The sub woofer may be lacking for some people but for a bedroom it is more than adequate...

Grand Slam
Review of Wales by
Uncle_Slug
Advantages: See below
Disadvantages: N/A
.... Although he also didn’t play in the 6 Nations this year, he is an amazing Flanker (no not wa…er) who holds the team together well when he does play.

Height: 6ft 3in Points: 85 T (17)
Weight: 239lbs

All that remains for me to say is that Wales have been great this season winning the Triple Crown (Meaning that they beat all 3 of the home nations), Grand Slam (Meaning that they beat all 5 of their opponents) and the overall 6 Nations Championship by scoring a possible 10/10 points on the points table. Lets hope they do well in the next World Cup!?!
Hope some of that was interesting/helpful to at least one of you. Well Done Wales.
Over and out, Uncle Slug

GO FOR A BETTER MODEL
Review of Black&Decker HT400 by
STRAWB
Advantages: GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY
Disadvantages: DIDN'T LAST VERY LONG
...AFTER HOURS OF CUTTING MY NEVER ENDING HEDGES WITH SHEARS, I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A HEDGE CUTTER, WITH NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THEM, I DECIDED TO GO FOR THE HT400 MODEL, IT WAS MIDDLE OF THE PRICE RANGE AND WHEN COMPARED TO THE DESCIPTION OF OTHER MAKES I THOUGHT THAT IT MADE SENSE TO CHOOSE THIS ONE. I DID FIND IT REASONABLY LIGHT, LOTS OF FLEX, WHICH I NEEDED!, REASONABLY POWERFUL AND IT DEFINATELY DID THE JOB. HOWEVER THIS YEAR WHEN I USED IT THE MOTOR SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS STRUGGLING AND THE HANDLE SNAPPED CLEAN OFF, UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME IT WAS JUST OUT OF GUARANTEE. I AM LOOKING TO BUY ANOTHER ONE, BUT I THINK I WILL GO FOR A PETROL MODEL. I AM NOT WRITING OFF THIS MODEL I DON'T THINK IT WAS THE ONE FOR ME....

FANTASTIC TV at a FANTASTIC PRICE. A MUST BUY!!!
Review of Samsung LE 40 R 73 BD by
ky_9988
Advantages: HD Ready, Digital TV built in, Black Gloss finish, Excellent Price
Disadvantages: Sound quality, requires constant cleaning as dust is quite visable
...This T.V has got to be, without a doubt, my best purchase of the year.
I bought this Samsung LE40R73BD TV at the boxing day sales for only £809 from Currys. The actual price was £899 but with the added bonus of working their I got a 10% discount hence I got £90 off. Today being the 14th Jan 2007, the price is now back upto £1100. So I got myself a good price.
Along with the TV I also bought the matching DVD Home Cinema System (Samsung HT-Q100) and a cool & sleek large black glass stand. The total for the whole package coming to £1169.......I can tell you that this TV was priced at £1500 only two months ago. The package at that time would have cost me just over £2000, so I have grabbed myself a bargain for sure.
Anyway here is my review of the TV itself:

This TV is really pleasing to the eye as it has got...

TH7-II Raid - a classic & still up with the best
Review of Abit Socket 478 TH7-II-RAID - mainboard - ATX - i850 by
tomsmith500
Advantages: reliable, very upgradable, fast and very over-clockable.
Disadvantages: no HT support, only USB 1.1, did anybody get built in LAN?
...which gave 1650MHz. The memory clock was always 400 (440 when overclocked). I used 512MB of Samsung PC800 Rimms. I used a GeForce3 with this setup.
When it was time to upgrade, a 2GHz Williamette was used, along with a GeForce4 Ti4600. This provided a noticable boost in speed and again ran happily clocked with a 110fsb (2.2GHz !).
I've just upgraded again to a 3GHz Northwood CPU which 512k of cache and HT support. Graphics card is now a Geforce 5950. This 533fsb based CPU required manual settings in the BIOS - 133mhz x23 multiplier. The P4 uses a quad pumped bus so this resulted in 533 for the fsb. I have dropped the memory clock down from 400 to 300 to keep things reliable. At 400 the memory was running at 133x4 (532MHz) which was way over spec and resulted in errors. At 300 it was running at 133x3 (399MHz) which was absolutely fine. I...
