Technika MP-308 4GB MP3 player with FM tuner

Advantages: Wide range of features
Disadvantages: Difficult to navagate menus

...The MP-308 is Tesco?s current top of the range mini MP3 player with FM radio, and at 3p shy of £30 places it firmly in the budget end of the market. Having very recently ?goosed? my previous player doing a firmware upgrade, I got mine as an impulse purchase. It?s small ? about the same size as a lighter, and has a rechargeable battery, so running costs are minimal. You get everything you need; the player, a USB lead, a pair of cheap headphones, and a set of paper instructions and a mini-CD. In fact if you?ve previously owned an MP3 player, you can probably dispense with the last two items, the player supports traditional ?drag?n?drop? from your ?my music? folder. The instructions suggest that it?s far better to use the application which comes with the machine, that way you can make playlists, catalogue your albums and so...

Fantastic 20Gb MP3 player

Advantages: Sound quality, size, battery life
Disadvantages: No USB charge

...I bought this Archos 20Gb player about 3 months ago so that I could listen to my music whilst on the plane. I chose it as it was the same price as a 2Gb flash player, and a friend of mine had told me good things about Archos. I ordered it from Amazon after reading the good reviews on here and on their website. Upon opening the box, what first struck me was the size - it's tiny! The first thing I did was give the Gmini a good charge before using it. A great feature of the charger is it works in the UK and the US through the use of a clip on UK attachment - a very neat idea. Sadly this is the only way to charge it as it does not accept a charge through the USB socket. Transferring files to the device is really easy. Just plug the supplied USB cable into your computer and the other end into the Gmini. Then just drag and drop...

Rio Riot 20GB MP3 player

Advantages: Capacity, functionality,
Disadvantages: Size, recharge time

...I bought one of these on eBay a while ago, the only thing I can say that was disappointing, is the size. You see images of peoples hands with the Rio sitting in it, well it really is that big, and to me maybe because I have smaller hands it seemed a lot bigger... that really is the downsize. However with a 20 GB hard drive I did not even fill half the space up with songs, I worked out that you could fit around 10,000 songs on... (Roughly). It has a great menu to access songs and you can organize them very easily. In the dark you can see very clearly with its green back light (gives a glow in the dark impression) in the light again you can see very well with its large screen and dark text. It took me around 4-5 hours to fully charge the Mp3 player; I would say the battery lasts for around 8- 10 hours, depending on the usage. As regards...

Tecknika mp3 player

Advantages: No batteries needed
Disadvantages: None

...When my son asked for an MP3 player so that he could take it to school for art, my first thought was no way because they are to expensive for someone to pinch. We were in Tesco and noticed this product for only £15, so I took a closer look. It is a small mp3 player which is good, because you can hide it well, especially when outside, it comes with 4 different face covers and does not take batteries, so yes I bought it, on the understanding that we will see how he takes care of this one and then we will by him a better if he does take care of it. Well we have no need to buy another one because this little mp3 is brilliant. To start with the batteries, as I have mentioned it doesn't take batteries, well it has an lithium battery inside which once charged lasts up to 8 hours, to charge it you plug the lead into the mp3 and then...

Samsung P2 - a constantly evolving MP3 Player!

Advantages: great design, radio recording, plays lots of file types, big screen, constant updates
Disadvantages: small buttons, Samsung Media Studio only accepts credit cards, touch screen can be tempermental

...I received the Samsung P2 MP3 player as a birthday present, as I've previously owned several cheap MP3 players which I usually wear out or break quickly! This player was bought for me as an investment, which I can honestly say sums up this gadget perfectly. I personally feel the greatest feature of this MP3 player is the ability to update its firmware. Since I've owned it, it has had 2 major firmware updates. Some of the features are so new and drastically different, it almost feels a different MP3 player to the one I originally purchased! It can keep up with the features of competing MP3 players, simply through a series of very easy to install updates. Since purchasing this P2, I've had games added, along with new visualisations and a few technical tweaks. My second favourite feature of this player is having the ability to listen...

Review of Samsung YP-P2JC

in the blue mp3/cd player

Advantages: Good basic player
Disadvantages: reliability lets it down

.... WHY USE MP3 OVER CD? MP3s are compressed audio files, so instead of having about 20 songs to a cd, you can store up to about 170 songs on a cd. The downfall here is that you need to have a computer with a cd writer or at least be friendly with someone that has. The player also does not come with any software to help you with this, but I would recommend Nero as a burning program. The audio data needs to be encoded as mp3 or cda (normal cd data) otherwise it will not play e.g. wav or midi files. I?ve found this player to be compatible with all my cd-r and cd-rw cds. SOUND QUALITY The sound quality is good, however the volume controls are at set amounts, so it can be annoying if 1 setting is too quiet and the next is too loud. There is the option to put on S-XBS, which boosts the low frequency and basically adds a bit more bass. Its...

The revolutionary Samsung YP-K3 MP3 player

Advantages: relatively cheap , simple to upload music and pictures
Disadvantages: too many falls can result in occassional freezing

...Upon first impressions i wanst quite sure what to think . It slightly resmebled the infamous I-Pod but on closer inspection i relaised that it was infact an MP3 player by Samsung.I wanst sure what to expect and doubted the quality and durability of the device , but just one day of use changed my opinions on it entirely . The graphics and sound quality was matched to that of any i-pod and it contained even more special features aswell as the ability to download and listen to music. It was completely unique to previous MP3s with fetaures such as the ability to upload you own photos and the choice of numerous radio stations . Priced at a mere average of 50.00 pounds this was definately a good investment and is still going even past the one year mark. Its very simple to use and comprises of a touch screen upon with up and down keys are...

The best 20gb Mp3 out there!

Advantages: Size and cost 20gb for £150
Disadvantages: Slow scrolling

...The XS202 immediately struck me as a good deal, 20gb for the price of an ipod mini?! When I got it I was not dissappointed, it looks amazing (that's real metal) and comes with all you need to get started! The player does not use any software, just drag and drop (or if you want media player's syncronising feature) which makes it very easy to update and very versatile. I would suggest getting a program like "Tag & Rename" to ensure that all your music files are named correctly aswell. The sound quality is awesome, i can;t fault it, it doesn't skip, which is something HDD mp3s can do and very rarely freezes up, something not even ipod can match. The headphones supplied are also quite good, however i would suggest switching if you really appreciate your music. The xs202 is built like a rock ive dropped it from head height (and im 6...

Great MP3 Player - Simplicity and Elegance

Advantages: Looks great, airtight integration with iTunes
Disadvantages: Feels too small

.... This iPod got me into podcasts, because they are so easy to set-up. The battery life is good. Sound quality is average. I had a Sony walkman before and sound quality between the two is quite noticable. iPod nano lacks bass. There are EQ settings but not user-configurable ones. Apple's main advertising with this player is CoverFlow. This is when you can browse your music collection by flicking thro' album artwork. However, often it time a few seconds for the images to load, so is not as pretty as appears on adverts. Also it will take you AGES to go thro' your iTunes library and get all the album artwork. I tried it with a FM transmitter (generic) and it worked fine. Overall an excellent MP3 player that boasts airtight integration with iTunes and looks very attractive. However often feels too small. I brought the 8GB silver...

Stunning little 256mb MP3 player for under £5

Advantages: Price, Simple to use, Quality
Disadvantages: Minimal features

...I have been debating whether to splash out on an mp3 player for quite some time now but always seemed to have something else to spend the money on so had not purchased one until now. While picking up some essentials I spotted the Technika MP-906 mp3 player which Tesco are currently retailing for £4.97 and so decided that at under £5 what the hell. I have to say it is probably the best £5 I have ever spent. For this price you don't expect much and so I was expecting a lightweight flimsy feeling piece of kit, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The first thing you notice when you remove the player from the packaging is the quality feel of the player. Not the flimsy plastic I was expecting but a solid plastic with a soft rubbery texture that is incredibly comfortable to hold. The styling of the player is very smooth...
