Samsung's Neat Little Netbook

Advantages: Good performance, Good connectivity options, Good webcam, 160GB HDD, Upgradeable

Samsung but smaller

Advantages: Very compact and lightweight, excellent value for money, great design with brilliant screen
Disadvantages: No dvd drive but this is to save on weight and you can pick up an external one for reasonable

...Having previously had a laptop my wife recently decided to buy a new computer for herself as she felt she was not taking her laptop with her due to size and weight and so decided to opt to pick up the Samsung NC10 netbook. So you may have noticed that this is a netbook and be wondering what this exactly means...a netbook is a smaller, lighter weight laptop that is simply designed to handle internet browsing, e-mail and office software. The question I was asked by my wife before she picked this little gadget up was would this be able to play games? The answer is yes but of a limited variety as this is not designed with the same level of specs in as a normal pc or laptop (you would also need to purchase a cd or dvd drive for if you are looking at playing games that use a cd). It is a useful, functional piece of equipment which allows you to link your Sony camcorder to any kind of PC. The main thing I would say is, that if you find yourself in need of this cable then the best thing to do is to shop around. There are bargains to be had and quite big differences in the prices charged for it. Amazon is quite a good place to look, as not only do you get an Amazon price but there are other offers to be found there for new cables too. When I was looking the best deal available was £7.99 (plus shipping). Or of course you could order from Amazon when you are buying other items and then be eligible for free shipping if you spend £15. For even more savings register with Greasy Palm and log onto Amazon from there to get a 10...

Advantages: Robust, Large Keyboard, Large Screen, Good Support.

.... The whole feel and solidity of this netbook, as well as the large keyboard and screen helped to sell this to me. The manual is in electronic form but the netbook comes with all the DVD's necessary to perform a re-installation if you completely mess up. A small portion of the hard drive is reserved for the restore partition as well, so you don't ever need the discs unless of course you upgrade the hard drive or play around partitioning. On initial boot the Samsung software kicks in and asks you to perform a backup of your current system and offers to partition your hard drive for you. I chose the advanced options and allocated all the hard disk as one partition instead of reducing the size for the backup. I did this because I had a USB memory stick and that is where my backup data will reside. I would rather keep maximum space for all my files...

3210e Data Cable

Advantages: Download Ringtones
Disadvantages: Confusing at times

...I got my data cable to add ringtones, logos and unlock it. You know, I actually never did any of these. I got bored of it after about 10 minutes. You have to fid somewhere decent to get the rigtone/logos from, then discover you have to pay somehow alot of the time. Then there's the trying to connect it to your phone. Don't buy this without instructions! You need to remove the back of the phone, and insert it down the side of the SIM, and hope it's in right. the cable has 6 little pins that touch 6 metal bits , and they have to touch, usually with you pushing dow o the cable to keep them touching! In fact, you're probably better off just buying the ringtones out the back of Hello Magazine or something, it's so confusing. I must have spent a good couple of hours trying to find some program that works to unlock. They all failed...

Samsung hits the netbook world for 6

Advantages: sturdy, reliable, quite nippy for a netbook, relativley cheap
Disadvantages: sound, no ssd option, still can't beat the aspire one

...10 is very slightly nippier than some other netbooks such as the msi wind. The screen is also the standard 10.2" 1024x600 too, but it is a very good quality screen, and puts most other netbooks to shame. The deciding factor in the netbook market is the quality of the netbook, and the samsung comes with quality to the hilt. The solid build of the netbook combined with it's spacious (by netbook standards) keyboard helps to make using such small devices less of a pain, and everything just feels right with it. the ports and connectivity are good too, with 3 USB ports, a VGA out port (for hooking up to an external monitor) and a 10/100 ethernet port.vBattery life is pretty standard, generally speaking the netbook will last 3-4 hours before dying. overall there isn't much to criticise this netbook for, sure it could come with a SSD drive...
