This was annoying, and I started to wonder why Samsung had made it so difficult to transfer your video, unless it was to persuade you to go for the memory card models with USB transfer instead. I decided to worry about it at another time, and set it aside. But then, I decided to get a MacBook, and what should be found sitting along the side, but a firewire port. I should say that on the latest MacBook generation the port has been removed, mine is the white one. So I plugged it in, and lo and behold, iMovie pops up, and lets me transfer everything on the tape, whilst separating it into the separate recordings, with the click of a button. So basically, Apple solves yet another problem, and I can now edit those videos of my family eating Xmas dinner and my dogs malling each other, yay! I would say that this is...

SAMSUNG CAMCORDER RUBBISH DO NOT BUY VP-DC161

Advantages: NON
Disadvantages: Spent £350 for only 1 hour of footage

...Completely useless and Samsung far less than helpful when things Go wrong as were PC world not interested in either replacing or repairing mine even though I was told it had a two year guaruntee! The camera lasted for one and a half hours of recording and now does not work at all. Could not even finalise the disc that was in it when it packed up lost valuable footage of baby daughter. Bought another off e-bay if only to finalise the disc but it had the same fault only backlight came on and Nothing else at all! DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG VP-DC161 I have wasted over £350 to date and have now decided to write to the BBC Watchdog program as feel sure hundreds of people have bought this duff product from Samsung and it is high time they owned up to making a dud and provided replacement of refund....

VP-D351 cheap, but insubstantial

Advantages: Inexpensive, light
Disadvantages: won''t stand up to hard wear and tear

...The VP-D351 is a basic no-frills camcorder of lightweight construction, read 'plasticy' In it's favour it uses inexpensive mini-DV tapes, which I consider to be preferable to DVD media, but connectivity is limited to Firewire (not all computers support this) and it doesn't come with a remote a remote control. (I tried one from another model and found it doesn't 'see' it) I have owned a couple of other Samsung camcorders in the past - both bought off ebay as 'spares or repair (note to self - they don't seem especially robust) I was, however, able to get them working after an hour or so effort without buying spares. Having been reasonably assured by this I bought my latest Samsung camcorder in a similar state - but discovered that the ribbon cable for the display was broken. Whilst I'm pretty handy with a watchmakers screwdriver...

Samsung's Neat Little Netbook

Advantages: Good performance, Good connectivity options, Good webcam, 160GB HDD, Upgradeable
Disadvantages: Not very good accessories, Picks up Fingerprints, Weird button under touchpad

...After my white Asus Eee PC 1000H got stolen, I decided to replace it with a black Samsung NC10. The Asus and this Samsung are what is known as a netbook. It?s sort of a small, low cost laptop to let you surf the net, while you?re out and about. I bought it off Dixons.co.uk for £322 in December 2009 (had a 5% off coupon) but it?s going for around £310 at the moment in most places. CHOICES The NC10 is Samsung's first stab at the netbook market and they?ve done a blinding job of it. I believe it even won an award for it. The NC10 comes in three flavours, those being black, blue and white. I chose the black as it looks prettier. The white one also looks great but I figured that it would start to pick up dirt and go a bit black, especially the keyboard and touchpad. The white version has a matte lid so doesn't pick up...

Samsung but smaller

Advantages: Very compact and lightweight, excellent value for money, great design with brilliant screen
Disadvantages: No dvd drive but this is to save on weight and you can pick up an external one for reasonable

...Having previously had a laptop my wife recently decided to buy a new computer for herself as she felt she was not taking her laptop with her due to size and weight and so decided to opt to pick up the Samsung NC10 netbook. So you may have noticed that this is a netbook and be wondering what this exactly means...a netbook is a smaller, lighter weight laptop that is simply designed to handle internet browsing, e-mail and office software. The question I was asked by my wife before she picked this little gadget up was would this be able to play games? The answer is yes but of a limited variety as this is not designed with the same level of specs in as a normal pc or laptop (you would also need to purchase a cd or dvd drive for if you are looking at playing games that use a cd). Samsung an average camcorder

Advantages: Compact, convienient and fantastic picture quality
Disadvantages: Unreliable and poor customer service.

...Well it looks very nice and as with all Samsung products it seems to list a heap of fancy features that are on the leading edge of technology. Reliability: I have had this camcorder for almost 6 months and am sorry to say that it has just been sent for repair for the second time due to a manufacturing fault (The LCD screen died). So I am going to say not very reliable at all but this is to be expected with leading edge technology I guess. Ease of use: At first not very. I am quite good generally with electronics but found this confusing and had to sit and read through the manual before I could use this. Sound Quality: 7/10 not fantastic but acceptable if you are a reasonable distance from the camera. Features: Many fancy ones - most of which I probably wont use and missing some of the basic ones that I would look for in a camcorder...

Advantages: Good battery life, nice screen, near enough a full size keyboard

My background with computers is vast having built many and installed multiple operating systems on each, however i have never owned a laptop. Therefore i was a little dubious about some of the things such as keyboard size, processing power and battery life. I was looking for a laptop which is very small in physical size while packing a punch so it could still carry out multiple tasks. Buying a full size (15.4") laptop seemed a bit pointlesss as i have two tower pc's which are my main machines, so this was just to be about casual surfing/ reading emails/ browsing while on the move. Samsung hits the netbook world for 6

Advantages: sturdy, reliable, quite nippy for a netbook, relativley cheap
Disadvantages: sound, no ssd option, still can't beat the aspire one

...With the netbook market already saturated to the point of that resembling a cat's fur when thrown into a bath (with almost as much fur flying between the competitors), it would seem that we don't need yet another standard netbook joining the ranks. However the samsung NC10 has proven to be a great addition to the market, and managed to undercut nearly all of their major competitors, even if it can't beat the acer aspire one. The NC10 is the usual netbook affair with regards to specs, it is fitted with the defacto standard intel atom, 160GB HDD and 1GB memory, this provides decent performance for all your web application needs and some circa 1999 gaming (no-one buys one for gaming anyway, but you've always got to at least try).
