...How much memory does your mp3 player have? 1GB, 2GB? Did you pay more than £65 for it? If the answer to any of these questions is yes then you have been duped, drawn in my the marketing blurb of the huge multinationals and missed out on the Samsung YP-U3 4GB which at £65 comes in as the best mp3 player I have owned or had the pleasure to use. Available in 3 sizes, the Samsung YP-U3 is priced at £35, £50 and £65 for the 1, 2 and 4GB models respectively and while the smaller memory models are available in a range of bright and funky colours, the 4GB model which I opted for is like a Model T Ford, available in any colour as long as it is black. Like other mp3 players songs are downloaded from various online stores such as Napster and CDs can be burnt onto the memory. One very minor niggle is that iTunes isn't compatible with the YP-U3... ...Having had this MP3 player now for nearly 2 years, I have not had any problems with it. It is very reliable, never crashes, freezes etc on me, is really easy to put music on, and is at a very reasonable price, even the 4GB is very affordable and very durable, I have dropped mine countless times without any problems. Something you may not think of is that the screen is very clear and easy to use in all lights(brightness of screen can also be altered) and does not scratch easily. I would recommend this to people who have a large music library, but are often able to change the music on the MP3 player due to the 2GB only holding around 500 songs, and the 4GB holding around 1000 songs. ...I was given this player as a birthday gift, and the donor certainly made a good choice. It satisfies all my requirements in an MP3 player - decent capacity, good battery life, easy to use. The size is perfect for holding as well. My only quibble is that I found it much easier to use Media Player to copy music onto the player. rather than Samsung´s own programme. In all the months I´ve owned the player, I haven´t used the photo facility either, but that´s not really a criticism. One suggestion though: be very careful when removing the charger, as it´s quite difficult, and I´m concerned about bending the pins inside. If you don´t care about labels, or owning a trendy model, then the Samsung is an excellent choice. I´ve really found nothing to fault it, and would happily recommend it to anyone.... Read review

...new Samsung YP-K5 arrived because it was everything I had hoped for plus more. Despite the small memory (I only bought a 2 GB) the music features where amazing. As well as searching through your tracks by artist and by genre you can also include your own play lists. However, the only drawback to this is that play lists can only be set up when using your computer. The software included is easy to use and gives you the most out of your music. You can also store photos on your MP3 player and use it to view a slideshow of these photos. Transferring music to your MP3 player could not be easier. You just simply select the track and click the copy button. I mean come on how easy is that! The slide out speaker has fantastic volume and is crystal clear. ...Early last year, a friend of mine purchased the earlier model of this particular MP3 player (YP-K5) and seemed very impressed by it so I decided to purchase this newer model once it came out. And for the most part, I'm glad I did. Overall, I am also very impressed by the Samsung YP-S5. The design is sleek and modern and the buttons (while confusing to begin with) are simple and easy to use. Regarding the buttons, as I have never owned a touch screen device or one with touch sensitive areas, it is a tad strange using the buttons and having no tactile feedback. That said, if you are familiar with that kind of input method, feel free to ignore the previous sentence. ...I was very happy with the player until is stopped working after 9 months. Now it is completely dead. I used it at work every day, and the only real problem I had was that you cannot listen to music while charging it up. Good points 1) Good sound quality (good enough for me, anyway!) 2) FM radio reception OK (at least on strong BBC stations) 3) Can be used as a USB flash drive for files as well as music 4) Charges via USB - so all you need is any PC or Mac 5) Small yet easy to use, with lots of options to adjust the sound etc 6) Good battery life Bad points 1) It only lasted around 9 months!!! 2) You will probably want to get different earphones 3) USB transfers a bit slow (compared to a generic USB FLASH drive) 4) You can't play music or listen to the radio while it's charging! Advantages: Easy to navigate and use. Supports A2DP/AVRCP Bluetooth profile. Good screen.
Disadvantages: Screen can get very messy since it's a touchscreen.

...Firstly, just to clarify, despite it saying not touchscreen in the ciao list... IT IS! THe Samsung YP-P2JC comes in a few varieties, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB. I got this one, the 8GB as it's definately better to have more space than to run out of space. Since the player allows for video playback as well as music and photos, the 8GIG version is recommended. As you may know, this is a flash memory player, as opposed to a hard disk one, thus, it's very thin and very light. Audio, as expected is very good. Samsung have been making MP3 players for a long time now so this is no surprise. Samsung supply a nice pair of headphones with the player which have pretty decent bass and good tone overall. Photos are fairly well handled by the player. Generally the colours look bright and strong but ocassionally, the TFT screen doesn't do the pictures... Read review
