...This is a review on the expansion pack to one of Koei's newest saga's called Samurai Warriors Xtreme Legends, though the name is quite deceiving as in fact there are no Xtreme or Legends mode in this game unlike the Dynasty Warriors Xtreme Legends, but the enhancements they have made with the expansion pack is still good enough to have a play. Produced by W-Force and created by Koei, this is one game that you do not want to miss out on if you are a fan of the Sengoku Muso era. So, some of you now are probably wandering what is Samurai Warriors? Well it is set in ancient Japan, where clan's have formed to try and gain control of the land and become the sole ruler of it for either peace or to cause more chaos. Advantages: Offers both Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors, the few new features are semi-decent

...to loose interest, especially with the usual repetitive game play, and lack of innovation. Though on the plus side, the story is original, even if the game play stays out-dated. Graphically this game is dreadful, very little detail in the environments, but with it being on the XBOX360, the up scaling does make everything look a lot smoother, but with the little detail, it doesn't really scream "next generation". The soundtrack, as per usual, is pretty decent. There are a few unique tracks made for Warriors Orochi, but most are just taken from Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors soundtracks, so nothing really new, as usual. The voices are god awful also, as Samurai Warriors 2 had extremely bad voices, and most were brought over to Warriors Orochi, and they changed the classic voices that were in Dynasty Warriors 5, which inevitably makes... Advantages: Game depth and playability

...After recently buying a PSP I wanted a game which had hours of fun and depth. This game certainly has this. I used to have a game called Dynasty Warriors for the ps2 which was also awesome and this is quite similar. This was my main motivation for buying it. There are 3 modes. Free - where you just fight a single battle. Musou - a bit like career mode (develop your chosen character) and vs mode - fight against someone else who has the game. You can choose from around 25 playable characters all with their own unique weapons and musou attacks (special attacks). Which means great game depth. The warriors fight on certain stages and gain experience as you use them. Which means as you develop them more and more special attacks happen. Unlike dynasty warriors this game is more tactical. You have to choose your next move on each stage... Read review

...Another instalment of hacking, chopping, and slashing, with Samurai Warriors 2: Empires. Just like Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires, this time, KOEI's Samurai Warriors series takes on the Empires name and tries to illuminate the features that made Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires special and unique, which Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires clearly failed to achieve. Having said that, Samurai Warriors 2: Empires misses the bench mark also, but still it turned out to be a fun game for those that fancy controlling massive armies with the simplistic game play that KOEI's 'Warriors' series' offer. ...Wow, a new dynasty warriors! Oh wait, it is dynasty warriors... SW2 is produced by KOEI, the same people who bought us Dynasty Warriors. Except this time, we're not in China but feudal Japan. It seems different already, wowzers. Except... It really isn't much different at all. Instead of hammering the square button hundreds of times to cut through hundreds of measly enemies, you are hammering the square button hundreds of times to get through hundreds of JAPANESE enemies. Sarcasm aside, the difference is due to the fact that you have to constantly run all over the map undertaking different objectives, such as diverting enemy attacks or a frontal assault. Although there are a few characters to choose from, the stories are only 6 pages long and it almost appears that there is little variation between them. The free and survival modes... Read review

...Samurai Warriors 2, the next instalment to the Samurai Warriors series, though it only has minor improvements from the previous Samurai Warriors, this is still a worthy purchase if you enjoy a good hack n slash game. This game offers you to play through Sengoku history as famous warriors from that period. The main goal of the game as usual, is to kill the enemy ruler to win the battles, but to do so; you have to fight through numerous officers and hundreds of soldiers, while you also have to defend your own ruler. Power-up items can be found in mid-battle to give you advantage, such as attack power up, defence power up, speed power up and all that, this do increase you enough for a great advantage, yet they only last for 30 seconds.
