Sunny San Diego
Advantages: Gorgeous scenery, sunshine
Disadvantages: transport links
...I visited San Diego last October due to a work meeting. As it was such a long way to travel I thought it would be a good idea to add on a few days holiday to explore the area with a friend who was coming along.
Getting There
There are direct flights to San Diego from London however at the time these were three times as expensive as a fare with stopovers in the US and with a friend coming I wanted our flights to be as cheap as possible. Our flights went from Heathrow to Washington where we changed planes for a flight to Chicago and then another change for a plane to LA, where we got our final plane to San Diego. This may seem too much for some, but for me it was great as the plane changing gave me a chance to stretch my legs. I think I would have found 13 hours cooped up in a plane too much! One thing I did ensure was that the route...

San Diego
Advantages: Friendly, warm
Disadvantages:
...San Diego is a fantastic holiday destination. It is warm and sunny but as it is on the coast there are cooling sea breezes. The people are all friendly and there is fantastic shopping centre. The buildings are all painted in bright colours as the town used to be owned by Mexico. A place that must be visited is Balboa Park which has museums in it (some of which can be free on particular days) and also San Diego zoo. The park itself is lovely to walk around and has tress from all over the world. Another must is old town. This is a place with shops and restaurants which are in 'old style'. It has a mexican feel and is very relaxing. Basically San Diego is a must!...

SUN, SEA AND SAN DIEGO
Advantages: a lovely way to start a fly drive holiday
Disadvantages: The flight from the U.K. is approximately 11 hours
...San Diego is well worth a visit but in my opinion 5 days is enough time to enjoy the attractions it offers. The weather is sunny but not too hot as being a coastal town the ocean is never too far away.
There are many attractions and the best way to view them is to take a “Trolley bus” tour. These can usually be organised at your hotel. It costs around $20 or approx £14. It is a whole day tour, which is very professionally directed. Your tour host guides you through the town and informs you of many historical facts relating to it. You can get off at any time to explore the area you are in as the trolley’s run regularly.
Sea World is a wonderful day out for the family, Shamu the whale is worth going to see alone. There are many shows by the animals all included in the entry price. You can even feed...

San Diego - Mission Beach explained
Advantages: The place where lifestyles are created
Disadvantages: Having to leave to come back to work
...A couple of years back I decided to push off for Christmas with a buddy and backpack some of the Stated. First stop was LA, but after discovering rather rapidly that it was a hole, in fact a hole that needs to be filled in, we jumped on a greyhound and a couple of hours later we arrived in Downtown San Diego.
San Diego is everything LA is not, it's clean, the downtown area was well lit with non threatening people.
Prior to leaving LA we had booked ourselves into the Banana Bungalow (BB) in the Northern costal resort of Mission Beach. BB is a hostel right on the beach with a beautiful and large deck out the back where you can just kick back and enjoy the view.
After settling in (staff were way friendly) we decided to explore the local area. Misison Beach is very much a residential resort that is making the most of its beach...

Good morning, San Diego!
Advantages: Great humour and quick wit
Disadvantages: Can be offensive to some
...Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy is the first film in The Mediocre American Man Trilogy, also known as The Colon Trilogy. It stars some of the actors from the Frat Pack group of actors, in a 'stupid' type of comedy that pokes fun at everything that is wrong with society and picks on stereotypes. Essentially, the actors, writers and director spend the entire film opening themselves up to abuse at the same time as trying to entertain. The result? You'll either love it or hate it!
The Plot
Ron Burgundy is the toast of San Diego - the news anchor on the most successful news programme and channel on air in the city. Untouchable almost. Then in walks the sexy Veronica Corningstone, the only woman in a male newsroom, and backs are up instantly, with hialrious effect. Burgundy is at first willing to work with Veronica, until she lands...

For low flying aircraft
Advantages: Clean, spacious
Disadvantages: It's an airport
...san Diego airport
On a recent trip to san Diego, we obviously had to use the airport, firstly flying into the airport from Chicago and on the return journey flying from San Diego to Los Angeles
A bit of history...
The airport was built in 1928 and was once considered the "Air Capital of the west". It is now the 30th busiest airport in single runway commercial service in America and when the airport celebrated its 75th anniversary, a documentary about its past and present was produced
Where is it?
The airport itself is easily accessible and for anyone who knows the area is on harbor drive, just North of down town San diego. Fortunately for us it is also about 25km from where we were staying in La Jolla, so we didn't have a long transfer journey.
The airport has 3 terminals- Communter Terminal, terminal 1 and terminal 2...

Seeing the sights
Advantages: Very informative
Disadvantages: You may miss the trolley
...When I was on a recent business trip to San Diego, and not having much time to have a look around I decided that the best way to see some of the town was on the trolley tour. Old Town Trolley Tours has provided sightseeing tours since 1989, and they try to highlight the best of San Diego.
I Got on the trolley at the Old Town having bought my ticket from Barbie at one of the stalls. The ticket was $32 and with this I got information about the trolley ride and the stops, and discount tickets for restaurants.
The trolleys themselves run on a circuit and if you were to just sit on the trolley and not get off, then the whole circuit would take about 2 hours. I had already looked at the Old Town , and when I had a look through the various stops, it was easy to decide where I wanted to hop on and hop off. The trolleys are actually small...

Love Handles??? Handle This On Honeymoon!!!
Advantages: We were treated like stars.
Disadvantages: Nothing really.
...***Background***
When we were looking for hotels before going to Thomas Cook, The Handlery in San Francisco was on our shortlist. Of course we decided on the much more luxurious Westin St Francis to start off our honeymoon trip but when we were informed in Thomas Cook that there was one in San Diego, we were more than happy to give it a go.
We wanted a king size room for two nights and noticed that there was actually a space on the booking form our travel agent used to write in any special requirements. She told us that they were very good at looking after honeymoon guests and always gave you a few extras so we were happy to go along with this.
***Arriving***
We found the drive from Palm Springs quite quick along the major freeways and this was one section of our trip that we wanted to get out of the way, as we had plans to...

******THE SUN ALWAYS SHINE IN SALOU******
Advantages: Excellent value for money, brilliant location & good sized rooms
Disadvantages: Maids didnt change beds & didnt see them clean pool
...a travel agent I k now how to get a good deal. I always book my own holidays & never go for a package.
When I decided to go on holiday I asked my sister along & two of our friends.
So that's 4 girlie girls aged between 18 & 20. Nightmare!!!
Everyone left it to me to book everything but expressed on several occasions they wanted a 5* Ritz where it is scorching hot, has good nightlife & some hunky men for the 2nd week in July for £200. After searching the Internet I thought this is never gong to happen as everything was coming up just that bit too expensive & by the time we added up all the costs we were looking at £300+ & I knew this just wouldn't do.
HOW DID YOU COME ACROSS THE SAN DIEGO?
About 5 years ago me & my sister went to Cambrils with our parents, which was quite a nice holiday. For those who don't know Cambrils is situated...

YOU STAY CLASSY, SAN DIEGO
Advantages: Laugh out loud funny, fine cameos
Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste
...` abilities Ron continues blindly in his attempts to win fair maiden - relying on the renowned aphrodisiacal powers of the jazz flute to help his bidding. The remainder of the channel four news team try to warn Ron that he's taken his eye off the ball, not least when he blows out the monthly ritual of the news teams pancake breakfast to be with Veronica! And despite some worrying confrontations and name calling from the other news teams of the area he simply won't listen - It seems Ron Burgundy is risking his very position as the man who tells the truth to San Diego every evening, just to get close to Veronica!
Brick Tamland: "I ate fibreglass insulation. It wasn't cotton candy like the guy said... my tummy itches."
Whether you love or hate Will Ferrell one thing is for sure - his portrayal of Ron Burgundy in Anchorman is verging on comic...
