SanDisk Clip... a great little mp3 player!

Advantages: Easy to use, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Bad quality headohones

...I brought the SanDisk Sansa Clip 2gb black about 3 months ago from Amazon for £34.99 including postage and packaging. Its is very small, just 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. It has a small display screen at the top, with blue and yellow text. The lower half of the device has a dial with play, pause, fast forward, rewind and stop. The volume controls and on/off and hold buttons are on the side. It came in a box with the mp3 player, headphones, pc connecting cable and instructions. I shopped around before buying as I wanted a small mp3 player, but didn't want to spend too much money. I considered the i pod shuffle, but decided against it as I didn't like the fact it had no screen. This is what attracted me to the SanDisk, and the fact that it is so easy to use. It has 2gb memory, I have put quite a lot of music on it...

...INTRO I bought myself a SanDisk Sansa View (16GB version) because I found my previous MP3 / Video player a bit too bulky and heavy (Creative Zen Vision M 60GB) to carry around. I figured I was hardly using any of the storage anyway so thought a 16GB alternative would suffice. Your life on a stick: the SanDisk Cruzer Micro

Advantages: 4 GB, U3, Compact Stick, Reasonably Fast Write Speed,
Disadvantages: U3, There are faster sticks out there.

...the U3 system on So really, this stick has a lot going for it apart from the U3 software. If you can be bothered to it is possible to find some instructions online to remove the software, although this might void the warranty. But my feeling with memory sticks is that they are much the same as each other, and it's about looks and feel as much as quality. Sandisk are a quality brand and you should be getting a decent product. The hardware side of it certainly seems to be, it's just a letdown with the software. For my uses I'd rather stick with my Corsair Flash Voyager or my Kingston Data Traveller than deal with the darn software on this device. Apart from the U3 though, this is a good stick....

The difference between this and a floppy disk or CD is that it holds much more information than your old floppy (1.44mb) but less than a CD (700mb). U3 is a new capability which allows usb drives to hold not only files and data, but also a variety of applications such as the Firefox browser, OpenOffice, Skype but also some games like Sudoku!
