Super San Gimignano
Advantages: Lots to do, relaxing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Pay toilets, might see Tony Blair
...I visited San Gimignano last summer. I cant recommed it enough. For such an amazing place it is very unspoilt and largely unfound by many visitors to the area.
It is known as the "Ancient Metropolis" as there are lots of towers remaining. Also Tony Blair takes his holiday there every year.
San Gimignano is a small town with approximately 15000 inhabitiants. 15,000 lucky people in my experiance.
There are many great shops, interesting cafe's and loads of history. We took it in as part of a day trip which involved visiting Volterra. In heinsight I wish that we had spend a larger percentage of the day at SG. I feel that there was a whole lot more to find.
After coming back to England I have seen SG featured in a Holiday program. The presenter was sat under a conopy from a small bar in the large piazza. We too had sat there...

St JIMMY
Advantages: What a skyline!
Disadvantages: Can be very crowded
...San Gimignano has been often been referred to as the Manhattan of Tuscany. No, not because the taxi drivers don't know their way around and can hardly speak a word of English, but because of the resemblance of their respective skylines due to the many soaring towers. Personally, on approaching the town, I was reminded more of Cumbernauld (without the grey concrete and the grey weather).
Actually, thinking about it, San Jimmy has more of a fairy-tale-like appearance with its tower-bedecked hilltop setting. Whatever, it's an impressive vista and is visible for a good few miles distant.
Parking isn't much of a problem (not when we visited at least). There are several, inexpensive car parks on the edge of town and a free shuttle bus will whisk you all the way to the centre of town. It's not all that far, but it is pretty steep so a bus...

The Town Of The Towers - And The Ice Cream
Advantages: The leather goods and ice cream parlours
Disadvantages: Thousands of tourists
...~ ~ As any off you who have read my recent opinions are aware, the ‘mad cabbie’ and family spent this year’s summer holiday in the land of my birth, Scotland.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore Scotland, but for a summer break our first choice would still have to be Italy, and more specifically, the Tuscany region, which we visited in both 1999 and 2000.
And one of our favourite small towns in this region is the one I’m going to review here, San Gimignano.
~ ~ San Gimignano is a small medieval hill town surrounded by high stone walls not too far from the major Tuscan city of Siena.
In Italy, they call it ‘San Gimignano della Belle Torre’. (the beautiful towers).
~ ~ It was immortalised in the old Zefferelli film ‘Tea With Mussolini’, and in olden times there were 70 towers...

San Miguel!
Advantages: reasonable strength, refreshing, tasty, cheap.
Disadvantages: not for repeated consumption.
...San Miguel Premium is a very tasty lager beer thats got a really sweet, refreshing aftertaste that is great for the cash. If you fancy a bit of a change, it is definitely worth a try. Like any alcohol, it is best enjoyed in moderation. However this one moreso, as it starts to get a little bit sickly after the third or fourth pint. It is something to drink between different beers, if not on its own. -- Definitely not something you can drink all night.
Its best to buy in a supermarket as it is disproportionately cheaper than in a pub. It is available in ASDA and TESCO in both cans and bottles. It is thirst-quenching and best served chilled and is often enjoyed in hot climates. As the name may have led you to believe, it is very popular in Spain and is the strongest export of Spanish Beer.
4%. ABV.
Summary: A fine Spanish Beer...

A San Frantastic Boutique Hotel
Advantages: The price, the location, the staff, the rooms, everything
Disadvantages: ...our shower was like needles
...adorable and has a great location in town. I can't really flaw it. There are other hotels in the Joie De Vivre company within San Francisco too, so they may also be worth looking into to, but of the few we browsed over, none seemed so 'individual' and cute as this one. Like I said, they have cheaper options, and that makes me even happier that we can come back (making sure we book more in advance) and pay less!
The company's website can be found at: http://www.jdvhotels.com/hotels/petiteauberge
And the hotel can be found here:
863 Bush Street,
San Francisco CA 94108;

San Andreas
Advantages: Massive Game, Great Graphics
Disadvantages:
...GTA San Andreas
Well this is the next great game in the series of GTA. It is so much bigger and better than the one before it. It allows for so much more interaction in the game. Now being able to do things such as going to the gym and play games etc it is just beyond all other gaming experiences.
I have found that the game is just totally massive there are three different islands which are all huge. I've had the game for over a year and still seem to be finding things to do. The main aim of the game is to get respect. You can do this by completing missions and advancing in the game. Another way in which to get respect would be to have great stamina and muscles etc.
The game has so much detail involved it's quite incredible. You start off at the beginning of the game trying to find your way home on a bicycle; this is the very...

Sunny San Diego
Advantages: Gorgeous scenery, sunshine
Disadvantages: transport links
...I visited San Diego last October due to a work meeting. As it was such a long way to travel I thought it would be a good idea to add on a few days holiday to explore the area with a friend who was coming along.
Getting There
There are direct flights to San Diego from London however at the time these were three times as expensive as a fare with stopovers in the US and with a friend coming I wanted our flights to be as cheap as possible. Our flights went from Heathrow to Washington where we changed planes for a flight to Chicago and then another change for a plane to LA, where we got our final plane to San Diego. This may seem too much for some, but for me it was great as the plane changing gave me a chance to stretch my legs. I think I would have found 13 hours cooped up in a plane too much! One thing I did ensure was that the route...

The discreet charm of the Casa San Blas
Advantages: A five-star stay?
Disadvantages: ?with just three-star facilities
...simplicity often trumps ritzy ostentation. Attentive service matters, but nothing is nastier than the kind of smarmy obsequiousness that always seems to mask a sneer. And so on. Maybe it's simply down to that indefinable essence known as character or personality.
These inconsequential musings are prompted by my trying to pinpoint what it was about the Casa San Blas at Cusco that I liked so much. The hotel is certainly not without its limitations and even its failings, but it's a nevertheless a charming and delightful place to stay. Let's try to summarise what it has to offer.
* Location *
The Casa San Blas is situated just a few minutes' walk from Cusco's Plaza de Armas (central square), and is therefore convenient for all the main sights of the ancient Inca capital, such as the Qorikancha (Sun Temple), the Cathedral...

Castillo San Miguel
Advantages: Superb horses and some great eye candy for the ladies
Disadvantages: Horrible fod, revolting wine, uncomfortable seats and miserable staff
...Castillo San Miguel
Tenerife.

http://www.teneriferesorts.com/any/trwmiguelcastle.aspx
Whilst on holiday in Tenerife this summer 2007, our tour representative did a reasonable job on her sales pitch by convincing me to book another of her excursions. Not only had I just booked a Catamaran cruise for an afternoon but I had now also paid my euros to spend an evening at the Castillo San Miguel for a Medieval Evening. I did not visit during the day so cannot comment on what is available at this time.
If you are ever holidaying on the island of Tenerife, then please read on before you commit yourself to a very different evening's entertainment.
*** Object of the Evening***

GTA San Andreas: The Ultimate RPG?
Advantages: Entertaining; challenging; gripping; enjoyable
Disadvantages: Likely to offend if taken too seriously
...Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the eighth game in the GTA series, and the third of the current 3D format. It follows Vice City, and fans of this game will note several references throughout San Andreas, most notably the reappearances of Ken Rosenberg and of Kent Paul (Danny Dyer), who for San Andreas have added Macca (Shaun Ryder) to their line-up. Allusions are also made to GTA III and GTA: Liberty City. San Andreas is the last game in the GTA III spin-off series.
The game begins in the fictional town of Los Santos, in the early 1990s. You are Carl Johnson, AKA CJ, a young man with a troubled background who ran away to Liberty City after his younger brother was killed, who returns to his home following the murder of his mother, caught up in gang violence, in order to attend her funeral. Upon his return to the town he is immediately...
