Good gambling times in San Juan

Advantages: close to the beach, casino in the hotel, clean and friendly
Disadvantages: bus or taxi ride to the old San Juan, beach too small

...This is a review of Radisson Ambassador hotel in Condado, San Juan in the island of Puerto Rico. I have just visited this beautiful island on a short vacation - I was there for 5 days. The flight from New York was about 4 hours. The First Impression: When I first arrived in Condado which is a hotel area of the city of San Juan on the north part of the coast, I was a little dissapointed. The neighbourhood of the hotel looked a bit dingy and run down. I took a short walk to the beach which is a block away and the street was dirty, old rusty cars parked on the street - you get the picture. The beach turned out to be tiny, nothing to shout about. The hotel however, I was impressed with. It was clean and looked well taken care of. Fortunately, my first impression was erased once I found out there is a much bigger beach a short walk...

Playa de San Juan - An excellent hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room
Disadvantages: Dynamic currency conversion on our room costs paid by debit card

...We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view. THE HOTEL The hotel building is over 7 floors: the ground floor, floors 1 to 5 and a floor called '-1'. If you are given a room on the '-1' floor, don't think that they are shoving you in...

Hotel Don Juan,Magaluf - A pleasant suprise!

Advantages: Well located, friendly staff, spacious rooms

  "I Want to Buy a Melon!"

Advantages: Gorgeous setting, lovely and friendly staff, superb food and drink

...of us for one week all inclusive in March, that was it, I'd booked my first holiday abroad!! I couldn't wait! We didn't do too much research into the island or indeed our resort beforehand, basically we went with the Bahia Principe Hotel in San Juan (on the North of the island) because the travel agent offered us the best rate for this one at the time. I am most definitely pleased she did though as I can't really fault the resort beyond a couple (and I do only mean a couple) of minor niggles. More on those later though. Firstly, let me get back to my holiday memories and review the hotel and the island.... Firstly, San Juan is classed as a city on the island of Republica Dominicana (to call it by its official name!), but their 'cities' are nowt like ours. ...Did you see the race on Sunday? FAAAAAANTASTIC! as Murray would say. Juan Pablo is the most exciting thing to happen to the sport since Schumacher came on the scene 10 years ago. Juan is a Colombian that test drove for Williams 3 years ago. He has been contracted out to Chip Ganassi in CART racing for 2 years where he won the title at his first attempt. I dare say with a more reliable car and better luck, he would do the same thing in F1. Yesterday in Brazil we saw his true class. He not only passed Michael Schumacher with ease but then pulled away form him. I thought it was too good to be true and it was. Jos the Boss drove into his backside and took him out of the race. 'Its Bahia Principe'

...As you drive down the coastal road past all the resort hotels along the northern coast you'll begin to worry like in that Thomsons (?) advert on the TV that you're driving past all the best hotels! Then as you drive through the less developed towns along the road you'll worry that you're going to end up stuck in some shack in the middle of no-where! But as you turn off the coast road just before reaching the town (village?) of San Juan and into the Bahia Principe grounds you'll wonder what all the worrying was about! As with the other Bahia Principe Hotel in Mexico you first drive down the Hacienda, a short road lined with shops bars and restaurants, the one at San Juan has a hairdressers, a jewellers, a snack bar, a disco, a 'hard rock' bar, the reps building internet access (for footy scores of course!) and various shops selling...
