...Yes, another Venice review...Probably my last one though... Okay...Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) was built in 1071, and is in Venice, at St Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco). The square can be hard to find, or very easy, depending on how good you are at navigating the streets (needless to say, we had a bit of a struggle!) Even though the basilica is enormous, I couldn't see it at all until we stumbled straight onto St Mark's Square, where it suddenly leaps out on you, dominating the place. If ever you go to Venice I would strongly recommend a trip to St Marks Square, as this building is probably one of the most amazing you will ever see. The thing that struck me first of all was the sheer colossal size of it. It is toweringly tall, and extemely wide, I have never seen anything like it. I was expecting to see...

...PIAZZA SAN MARCO. is like falling in love with a Beautiful Woman, when with her you can not stay long enough, when away you can not wait to return to her. You may speak to people who have only visited her on a Day trip, they will probably have not been impressed. They will only have seen her in the company of thousands. To see the Piazza at its best and Romantic you must Visit her late at night with your wife, husband, lover or just a friend. The sqaure seems to be your own, so beautifully lit. Which really highlights the shape of the square. When you enter from the Grand Canal DO NOT WALK BETWEEN the two columns, in the past you only passed between when being sent for execution. The Doges Palace is on your right, this is well worth a Tour, get there early to beat the queues. (Day Trippers normally decend on Venice about 09...

A San Frantastic Boutique Hotel

Advantages: The price, the location, the staff, the rooms, everything
Disadvantages: ...our shower was like needles

...adorable and has a great location in town. I can't really flaw it. There are other hotels in the Joie De Vivre company within San Francisco too, so they may also be worth looking into to, but of the few we browsed over, none seemed so 'individual' and cute as this one. Like I said, they have cheaper options, and that makes me even happier that we can come back (making sure we book more in advance) and pay less! San Antonio Hotel - A Touch of Class

...This hotel is of an excellent standard. I work in the travel industry so would say I have very high standards. The decor of the hotel is of a very high standard and the service is second to none. This hotel deserves the 5* rating I have given it. It has entertainment to suit all age groups and you can be as busy or quiet as you want to. I would return to this property again without any hesitation. The pool area is very large and appealing. More than adequant sun loungers for guests. The food is of a very high standard and I found it catered for all tastes. You could eat plainly or really let your taste buds run wild. It is ideal as a family or couple. It is set at the quieter (and in my opinion, nicer) end of puerto Del Carmen were you find nice coves for bathing. It is also very easy to get in and out of the main centre of the resort....

The Dakota hotel: cheap hotel in the heart of San Francisco

...In 2007-2008 I lived in San Francisco for work for 4.5 months. The first two week I spent in the Dakota Hotel, in search for a spot of my own. Dakota hotel caught my eye for a number of reasons: the price and the location. Normally, you'd have to rob a bank or two to stay in a hotel in the heart of San Francisco for two weeks. Comfortable Hotel in the Centre of San Francisco

Advantages: Comfortable, Friendly, Good Facilities

...We stayed at the Chancellor Hotel by accident! We had hotel vouchers for our visit to San Francisco but the hotel we stayed in on our first night was so awful (and in one of the more dangerous areas of the city - we heard that the street on which it was situated had the highest murder rate in San Francisco!) that we decided to ring San Francisco Reservations, a hotel broker mentioned in our guide book. Hotel brokers basically rent out hotel rooms at short notice at lower than advertised prices. That is how we were able to stay in the Chancellor, which is a 3 star hotel, for $50 per night! According to the hotel's website, special room rates start at $125 per night, so we definitely got a good deal by going through San Francisco Reservations! The Chancellor Hotel is right on Union Square in the centre of San Francisco and is convenient...

Castilla Hotel Alicante Playa San Juan

...My wife and I have just spent a week at the Castilla and have returned home very disappointed with the hotel itself and the concrete jungle in which it resides. To start with the pluses: The hotel is spotlessly clean - though we did find in our room a cockroach of the sort of proportions which might have got it some extra work in the film "Alien". The cleaning staff and indeed all the female staff working in the hotel were helpful and efficient, pleasant to talk to and always wore a smile. Anything else? hmmm the lifts worked! None of the male staff measured up to the female. Surly, unhelpful and distant are the kindest words I can find. The food was poor - it was never served warm. Maybe it is a Spanish tradition to serve mashed potato and vegetables cold. If so it is not one that I have encountered before. The shops in the area...

...Just got back from a lovely holiday in San Francisco where we stayed at the York Hotel at 940 Sutter Street, just 4 blocks from the central Union Square area and only 2 blocks from the major transport stops at Powell Street. History: Built in the 1920s, the hotel still has many of its original features, including Bakerlite electrical fittings and ceramic solid baths. It also has a history. ...Now I don't want you to go thinking that I make a habit of eating frozen pizza. In an ideal world I'd spend hours every day, painstakingly hand-chopping the ingredients of gazpacho, stirring polenta non-stop with a wooden spoon for 45 minutes, and beating eggs and olive oil to make a simply divine aioli, But, that said, instant pizza has its place: a) when you have an eight-year-old who won't eat anything that might possibly have grown in the ground at some stage, and b) when you just can't be arsed. San Marco pizzas are made by Heinz, the baked bean and ketchup folk. They don't make a virtue of this fact. This is because they want you to think this pizza is Italian. And Heinz sounds a bit, well, German, doesn't it? I hate marketing. I hate the way it insults your intelligence by calling a pizza 'San Marco' when it's made...
