"Last night I dreamed of San Pedro"
Advantages: Amazing wildlife, Mayan temples, cheap day trips & food
Disadvantages: Run down, ghettos, high visible unemployment & homelessness
..."It all seems like yesterday not far away" or so Madonna sang anyway in 'La Isla Bonita'. For me it all seems like 3 weeks ago, and so I decided, to get busy writing up my experiences of my honeymoon in Belize.
The reason for the Madonna quote, if you were wondering, is that, just off Belize is the island which inspired Madonna's song, Ambergris Caye (home of San Pedro), and it is in places...

Dom Pedro Palace
Advantages: friendly staf and extensive breakfast
Disadvantages: not the best location
...When we went to Lisbon we stayed at the hotel Dom Pedro palace. From the outside the hotel looks very modern and luxurious but the inside is a different story. The inside screams almost classic Mediterranean and is tastefully decorated. The lobby itself is a bit boring when you first walk in but luckily that improves when you enter the rest of the hotel.
Checking in went easy and the only thing...

Belize it or not!
Advantages: The Blue Hole, rich with history
Disadvantages: beggars following you around town asking for money
...swamp north of the site. We weren't able to get round the whole site due to time unfortunately so these were the major things we saw.
We stayed at Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City which overlooks the caribbean sea and is close to town. The city centre where all the shops are is quite small and you can walk through it in 30 minutes. However, some of the walking is not quite so pleasant...
