...Sandstone is a rock which in geological terms has taken thousands and thousands of years to form from billions of grains of sand, so it is a wonderful example of nature which Lush have tried to replicate in their soap called Sandstone. I was actually given this as a sample by the staff in the shop last week when I was purchasing some bubble slices, and it is always a joy to be given an opportunity to try something which I may not have selected personally, as often these chances will introduce me to what goes on to become an old favourite. Lush make a lot of soaps and the shop itself displays them in their entirety, so they sit like giant icebergs with often some pre-cut pieces for you to select. The advantage of this is that as you purchase by weight so you can be a little reticent if you want to sample something you are not sure...

☼ MY NEW FAVOURITE! ☼

Advantages: Great smell, good exfoliator, natural antiseptic/antibacterial properties, suitable for vegans
Disadvantages: Would be better if the sand was throughout the soap

...As much as stepping into a Lush shop makes my boyfriend sneeze like crazy, he has developed a fondness for their soaps after I bought him a chunk of Big Banana Moon. On our last Lush visit, he purchased a chunk of Sandstone soap, as he wanted something with antiseptic properties to cleanse his hands after he's been cleaning his fish tank. Unfortunately for him, I have also taken a liking to this soap? What the product does? This soap is for washing your hands and body, and has real sand in it to exfoliate your skin. Banish those Bumps and Lumps

...! Anyway. On my last trip, I purchased a variety of products. Included in this selection was Lush Sandstone soap. The product is new to Lush, and I’ve just noticed that it’s been added to the website. The soap looks a bit funny to tell you the truth. I noticed it on a stand at the front of the shop, and the look of it got my attention straight away. The next thing I noticed was the gorgeous smell. It’s a mustard yellow colour. The soap has a layer of sand grains on the top! The bottom of the soap looks bubbly, with white lumpy bits in it. As like all Lush soaps, they come in large bars, which the staff in the shop, are happy to cut down to your required size. The soap is supposed to be an exfoliating soap. It really is lush!

Advantages: Smells lovely, skin feels soft and refreshed
Disadvantages: very little except perhaps there could be more sand

...I am a recent convert to Lush products mainly because the nearest shop to me is in Chester. On a recent trip to Chester I called into the Lush shop and this is one of the items that I purchased. Before I review Sandstone soap, I will just give a little information about Lush products. All Lush products are handmade, they do not test on animals or humans and will only buy products from companies that have the same policy. Products such as soap are made into a large mould and then your purchase is cut straight from the mould in the shop. Sandstone soap is an exfoliating bar suitable for use on face or body. Dulux Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint

Advantages: Rainproof in 30 minutes
Disadvantages: Spillages need to be wiped up to avoid staining

...I have just painted the outside of my house with Dulux Weathershield textured masonry paint. This paint contains an acryylic resin which guarantees protection from all types of weather for up to 15 years. It can be bought in 2.5l or 5l tins. Normal price for a 5L tin is £23.99 but it is on offer in June at Focus for 3 tins for the price of 2. It can be used on dry exterior rendering and masonry and even brick and is mould and algae resistant. It comes in a range of colours apart from white. I chose Sandstone. Each 5L tin covers about 45 square metres and is rainproof in 30 minutes - something to consider with the British climate! However, it usually takes about 4 hours to thoroughly dry. The texture of the paint is like double cream and can be applied with either a roller or brush. It is very easy to apply and covers the walls well. I...
