Saintly Santa Ponsa

Advantages: Rich in history, very friendly locals, wonderful scenery
Disadvantages: Mozzies, sewer, quite touristy

...I have visited Santa Ponsa over 10 times, since I was little and still enjoy going there. --Location-- Santa Ponsa is located on the south-western coast of Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands. It is located in Calvia, the municipality also home to the slightly more well known Magaluf and Palma Nova. It is roughly 11 miles (18km) from the capital of the island, Palma. --Getting There-- The Palma de Mallorca Airport is the only one of the island, 5 miles east of the capital. Flying from the South of the UK takes a short 2-3 hours. The staff at theairport are efficient, but more laid back than the staff in UK airports - by NO means are they not doing their job, but for example when we travelled to Palma last October we were practically expected to strip naked when we went through security at Birmingham, and in Palma only...

Santa Ponsa - a family perspective

Advantages: Busy but not hectic, clean, compact, central for excursions
Disadvantages: Quite hilly, lack of scenery/architecture

...My wife and 2 young daughters (then aged 5 months and 5 years old) selected Santa Ponsa for our holidays in May 2001. We stayed at the Hotel Pionero on a half board basis - the hotel was clean, comfortable, had excellent facilities (there are 3 sister hotels all adjoining), with very friendly staff. The weather for our two weeks was wonderful - hot without being too uncomfortable - the only rain was on our last day! We were situated about 3 minutes walk from the main beach and about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Santa Ponsa - amazingly, this what the brochure (Virgin Sun) said!. I found Santa Ponsa to be a clean, tidy and compact resort - it has something for everybody! (Although I can't comment on the clubs!). There are plenty of bars, pubs, restaurants etc and a good selection of jewellers and perfumeries. Public...

The King of Santa Ponsa

Advantages: Friendly staff, great entertainment, nice food, good location.
Disadvantages: None, really.

...--Overview? As I stated in my review of Santa Ponsa, I have been to this area around 10 times and every time I have stayed in the same hotel and have been extremely impressed with the hotel and the service there. --Location? The Rey Don Jaime (King James) is located on the Calle Puig Mayor, 100m from the main beach in Santa Ponsa. Santa Ponsa is located in the South West of the island (read my review to find out more). It is one in a chain of hotels ? ?Marina? - located across the Balearics and Spain. --Getting there? If you get a coach transfer from the airport i.e. you are with Thomson or some other package holiday provider it will take about an hour ? it?s the last one on the ?tour? of hotels in that area of the island. If you go under your own steam and book a taxi it will take about 30 mins. --Check in? When you arrive...
