...I have spent a week vacationing on Santorini. The reason why I have chosen Santorini over the other 1400 Greek Islands, was my profesor who goes there rugularly and is completely in love with it. All his describing of the island made me decide to go there. Santorini is a small group of volcanic islands located in the Aegean Sea about 200 km south-east from the mainland of Greece. The Greek islands are devided into island groups and Santorini belongs into the island group of the Cyclades. It's spread on 73 sq km and has a population of about 13,600 people. 1.) TRANSPORTATION Buses: They were my main form of transportation for exploring the island. Ia , Santorini Island , Greece.

Advantages: It must be the most photogenic place on the island.
Disadvantages: Can be exspensive but you can visit for the day.

...If you are on holiday on the island of Santorini it is likely that you will be tempted to vist the town of Ia which is famous especially for it's sunsets. Picturesque white and blue houses are built into the rock that overlooks the Caldera; this is an expanse of water formed in the past by the island volcanic activity. Cruise ships sail into the Caldera to view the attractive town,and the colured rock formations (cliffs) that have been created by the erruptions of the volcano and also to allow their passengers to vist the town. Restaurants, hotels, houses and hoilday properties are situated (perched on the cliff face) to take advantage of the view of the sunset over the Caldera. Advantages: no mosquitos low key nightlife excellent beaches

...Me and my husband always wanted to visit santorini famous for its volcanic black course sand and breattaking scenary not to mention visiting some of the beatiful churches which are used on most greek postcards. We finally went last year with our 2 children to a resort called perivolos and stayed in a place called eleferia apartments. Now the journey time from thira airport was 45 minutes but wow to watch the scenery go by i was in heaven, the tour rep gave lost of interesting facts like there were over 2 hundred churches on their tiny island many are built for heroes of war or unreturning sailors and that they also believe the lost city of atlantis lies deep bellow the sea once being part of their lovely island. Santorini

Advantages: Beautiful and with the best sunset
Disadvantages: a bit windy as all other Cyclades islands

...Santorini island is one of the best islands in Cyclades. I have been visiting Santorini every year for holidays. It is a well organised island and a lot of foreign people visit every year. There are a lot of nice beaches to visit. Also there are a lot of organised camping areas that you can rent a place for cheap and camp wiith your own tent. In Santorini you can see the best sunset ever. It is something amazing and you can see that on the 15th of August at Oia area. There are a lot of couples around waiting for the sunset. Santorini is a little bit more expensive than other Greek islands but definately it worths the money. There are plenty accomodation around to rent so try to book in advance otherwise you might not find nowhere to stay. I recommend to everyone to pay a visit to this island. There is also a volcano that you can walk...

A Greek mystery? Hardly

Advantages: Easy to read
Disadvantages: No tension and hardly anything to think about

...Santorini was one of the last pieces of work ever written by Alistair MacLean, but I would have to say from the outset that if this is the first of his novels that you are about to read then look to San Andreas or Caravan to Vaccares for your first experience. This is far from being his greatest piece of work, and whilst in itself is not a bad read, it does not make you want to go and look for any more of his books. Santorini is named after the Greek island and the setting for the novel is based around the island and the surrounding Aegean. The setting is modern in the late 1980's and the action primarily takes place onboard HMS Ariadne, a British survey ship and eyes and ears of the NATO fleet in the Med. My own Heaven on Earth

Advantages: Breathtaking scenery never to be forgotten
Disadvantages: Prices increasing - possibly owing to influx of American Cruise ships

...Sixty miles north of Crete, Santorini is the rumoured site of the lost continent of Atlantis. I admit that this is mainly for the sake of attracting tourists but there is some circumstantial evidence about to support the claim. Santorini was once inhabited by the Minoans. Unfortunately for the Minoans they shared the island with somewhat of a volcano, which somewhat blew the island to pieces. What was once a largish circular island now resembles a half eaten ring doughnut- with a still smouldering volcano in the middle. What a great hotel!

Advantages: Staff, View, Service, Internet Access
Disadvantages: Having to leave

...My sister and I stayed at the Pegasus Suites for 6 nights in early October. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the service is first class. We stayed in the Junior Suite which was large with comfortable sitting area, nice decoration with all modern equipment and luxury amenities. It has a Jacuzzi bathtub and bathroom with marbles. We had a wonderful early dinner at our room from the hotel snack bar on our first night at the hotel. The hotel is centrally located and close to many restaurants and shops. We felt that this was the most relaxing and friendly hotel we have ever stayed. We will definitely stay at the Pegasus Suites the next time we will travel to Santorini....

What a place!!!

...This is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review of a hotel but following our beautiful and relaxing stay at Pegasus Suites, I felt the need to recommend this marvellous hotel to others. My husband and I spent a long weekend in the hotel and found it idyllic. For a design hotel, the staff and atmosphere are remarkably unpretentious and accommodating. The manager herself took great lengths to direct us to the best sites and beaches of the local area of Santorini (which is lovely in itself), even going as far as to drive us to the nearest boat hire company and organising the best price for us! She also booked a taxi for us. The hotel staff could not be more helpful - arranging taxis / transfers and they really do go far and beyond their call of duty which is often hard to find these days. Breakfast was excellent...

...Santorini, Thira, Stroggili, or Santa Irini, are many different names for the same beautiful island I visited with my wife for our honeymoon. After reading hundrends of reviews regarding Santorini island I concluded that this was the right choice for our Honeymoon. The next step as you can understand was to book the flight tickets and one of the nicest hotel possible. The first part was easy, since two greek airline companies had about twice everyday direct flights from Athens to Santorini airport. But, the second part.. yes, how to choose the right hotel among hundrends one? Therefore, I started searching hotels with 5 and 4 stars rating. Guess what?
