Sanyo Xacti E60 - Style and substance !

...The sanyo Xacti E60 is the successor to the popular E6 - but the few additional functions make this a useful and desirable ultra compact camera to own ! As with the E6 - the 3 inch screen and 3 x konica minolta non-protruding optical lens are excellent ! The menu system is simple to navigate, it takes SD cards and the movie mode is great quality (if not a little greedy on memory !). The ultra fast touch sensitive focus shutter is clever and the camera can talk you through various stages to get your perfect picture - yes it talks to you ! So what's new ? The E60 comes with 32mb of internal memory (opposed to 16mb) and sports a simple grip on the front of the camera. ...I brought this Camcorder recently and i was very impress with it because it's very light, fits right in the hand of your palm and gives you great pictures.Other the other hand when you are recording it shakes a bit which isn't an ideal camcorder.The main thing is that this camcorder recorders onto a SD card which will save you a lot of money because you can record films and take pictures and then transfer it onto a CD and delete it off the SD card and re use the card over and over again instead of buying tapes. Unfortunately this camera doesn't broadcast HD but if you have a 720p screen the video images look good as a HD picture.The pictures are quite clear as well and 10 mega pixel for still image and 7.38 mega pixel for recording, it has a brilliant optical zoom of 5x....

...The first thing you will notice about this Sanyo digital camera is the odd looking design, it doesn?t look like a conventional camera but more like a television show laser gun. When you hold this camera, for me at least, I feel kind of odd and out of place. I would think Sanyo tried taking a brave step but for me and a few others I have talked to, it hasn?t worked. The camera itself is 3.2 mega pixels which in this day and age is not digital camera quality anymore, they have better cameras on mobile phones now, but in terms of quality it does produce visible pictures with a fair amount of details but this isn?t a camera if you are looking to take photography semi seriously, it?s more something you would use for a quick snap. Sanyo CG65 - A Jack of All Trades, Master of None!

Advantages: Excellent Form Factor, Fairly Decent Stills, Voice Guidance , Good Video In Good Lighting.
Disadvantages: Poor Quality in Low Light, Battery life Could be Better!

...for capturing those irreplacable, life - bending moments such as babys first steps, daughters first words etc, since the video quality just isn't up there. Good fun, the voice that speaks with this camcorder is also gimmicky yet fun (yes. she can be turned off thank goodness), and the whole package is fairly attractive provided you can score it for under £200 or so. If you're looking to go more futureproof, I've heard the Sanyo HD1 or HD2 models (which record into High Definition) have much better tolerance for low light situations all round. Its your call, i've given my honest opinion, but I'll have you know i took it back the day after and had a full refund from jessops, since for £250 i still felt fairly cheated for a jack of all trades device which is a master of certainly none. Good for fun, the odd shot, video outdoors, but otherwise...

I bought this camera more specifically to videos without the problems of weight that you usually get with ordinary video cameras. I was surprised just how light this feels whilst in use, without lacking a sense of solidity at the same time. The built in image stabiliser does a reasonable job of keeping the images still but it does not overcome all camera shake. However, better that nothing! The videos are not HD but offer a good level of image quality and are more than compensated for with the lower purchase price of this model compared to the HD Xacti range. ...I remember my fathers first camcorder, it was shoulder mounted and I couldn't lift the thing it was that big and heavy. How times have changed in such a short space of time and I made my first camcorder purchase a month before the birth of my son, now some 8 months ago. Sanyo PLC-SU20 A Good All-Rounder

Advantages: Very Robust, Well Constructed, Will Last A Lifetime!
Disadvantages: No lamp counter

However there are some exceptions to the rule, for example the Sony VPL-CS1 with its brightness of just 600 lumens yet can cope perfectly well and is as good as a 1500 lumen projector. This all comes down to the lens and how effective it is at getting the brightness from the bulb onto your wall/screen. As you will see, the SU20 (If I just use SU20, it's just to abbreviate as all Sanyo's are PLC-.... so I mean to say PLC-SU20), the SU20 has a nice big lens. This is very effective at getting that light from the bulb onto the wall/screen. I'll admit I would like it to be just a little brighter, so it could cope in a well lit room.
