TomTom Wireless GPS Receiver 20 channel GPS receiver module

...I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes. The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong. It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! Grundig Nav100 sat nav 100 from Germany

Advantages: Great menu and bright clear screen, Outlook Sync, Battery life

...Got this sat nav as an early Christmas present for myself because so many people have said good things about it. I must say it's exceeded all my expectations. It is not your average sat nav system as it's a very high-tech device but very easy to use. Unlike the gentleman in the other review I found it to be very easy to install the speed cameras, you just have to click one button!! nav-cam sat nav cheap as chips and great to use!!!

Advantages: Speed camera alerts bonus features such as mp3 and photos and low price tag.
Disadvantages: None that ive discovered so far.

No slip shod slap dash sloppy sat nav . . .

...... Garmin was one of the GPS devices I looked at when deciding which sat nav to go for. I actually went for the TomTom. As I compared several models I feel I am qualified to write a review on this Sat Nav. Garmin is well known for Satnav, but they also make Mobile phones, Laptops, PDAs, 2 way radios, and even dog tracking systems. They do echo sounders for boats, as well as chartplotters, fishfinders, and even radar sets. They are a "new" company (1989) and have a stong foothold in the navigation market. Garmin call this a personal travel assistant, this is an entry level job, but I tend to think that is just a marketing trick to make you want the next model. The device comes already pre-loaded with maps covering the whole of Europe. It has the usual touch screen and is of course very slim. The database is already loaded...

The sound, again excellent, very high quality. And what can I say about the active-sync, this is the best idea ever and I think every other sat nav is going to copy this soon. Just download your contacts from your PC to your NAV100 at a click of a button, then you can just use your friends name to set up the route, no need for post codes or nothing, how cool is that? oh another thing, plan your whole journey without even having a GPS signal.
