...We have had out Microtek Scanmaker 3600 for well over 5 years now and it is still going strong and doing the job for our entire family. I'm not sure how much we paid for it, but it was not a lot because we just wanted a basic scanner that could scan in documents. It is very reliable, easy to use, with a suitable range of features but has the tendency to be a bit slow occasionally. 1. Looks, Design and Size The scanner is fairly good looking, quite elegant and fairly compact. It measures approximately 17" long, 10" across and 4" high so can fit into most desktop areas. It has a solid build to it and rather funky curve on the lid that gives it some added style. Furthermore, the main surface is flat and you can easily rest your cup of tea, lunch or bits of paper on top! The white colour is easy on the eye and fits in to most rooms...

...If you are looking for a well priced easy to use desktop scanner, look no further. In the past 12 to 18 months most hardware has seen dramatic price reductions and in the case of flatbed scanners there is no exception. The biggest problem here is knowing which makes and models will be most compatible to which computers, also what capabilities they have. The Dexxa 4800 Flatbed Scanner is very standard as far as looks go but handles virtually all types of materials to scan, if you placed your hand on the screen it would even scan that clearly. The scan range (resolution) is anything between 50 and 4800 DPI which I'm sure for anyone is more than enough, besides which the high end resolutions would take enormous amounts of memory and super powerful computers to be any use. For most people the Dexxa 4800 is ideal and will work easily...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ A very respectable processor

Advantages: Runs cool. Overclockable. Very stable

...Around a year ago, I built myself a computer and decided to continue using AMD processors as I have found them to be very reliable. I opted for the X2 4800+ as it was the right value of power and price. The installation of the processor was relatively hassle free and without problem as the bundled heat sink had easy fit fixtures attached to it. Once the processor was installed and all the componants put in place, the computer worked without a problem and even when putting the processor under load. Due to the case that I selected the air flow was fantastic so the processor ran realitvely cold, around 45 - 50 degrees. I found the processor to be very versatile as well, as I overclocked each core to over 3GHz without any loss of stability and there was also software provided that allowed for a variable clockspeed depending on the load...

Instead of reviewing the mechanics and energy consumption of the scanner, this summary will provide you practical information about the technology in question.
