Epson's Best Scanner
Review of Epson GT 7000 by
Union
Advantages: Build Quality Looks Like It Will Last Forever
Disadvantages: No Longer Made
...I have had a GT 7000 for over 2 years and have found it to be far better than the model currently being offered by them. It came with a SCSI card which in my mind is by far a better way of connecting a scanner than either parallel or USB. SCSI is faster than parallel by far, and compared with USB it is always present as PC's seem to lose USB devices for no reason. The software included Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0, Presto PageManger both very good programs.

I have upgrade to the latest version of the TWAIN driver from the Epson website which also includes support for Windows 95,98,Me,NT 4.0,2000 as well as Mac 7.5.1 and later. Which is good to see as so many firms don't seem to provide drivers for Windows Me. I so pleased with this scanner I strongly suggest you try and pick one up secondhand as they are so well built...

Any of your business ?
Review of Epson GT 15000 by
benraiben
Advantages: Accurate Scans| Perfect for small buisnesses.
Disadvantages: The Price|Not the nicest looking deisgn.
...a single scanner ".
This scanner is powerful and boasts a 600 x 1200 dpi resolution and 48-bit color for incredible detail on scans up to 11.7" x 17.
The scanner has a fast startup time and is ready literally within a few seconds. The scanner is capable of whizzing through two-page spreads in one single scan, and is it is capable of accommodating a variety of documents. It even offers an optional automatic document feeder festure, (ADF, for short) which enables scanning from up to 100 sheets without any user intervention, and without sacrificing image quality.
The Epson GT-15000 can quickly accommodate virtually any scanning project. This high-value product even includes fast USB 2.0 and SCSI-2 connectivity, with an optional IEEE 1394 interface. In addition, an optional network card is available, enabling busy workgroups to share a single...

Great value
Review of Epson Perfection 610 by
vinodgm
Advantages: Inexpensive, Speed, Good resolution and colour
Disadvantages: Bulky
...I had posted an opinion earlier this month on the Multifunction printer, scanner, copier and fax, that I had purchased, which was the Canon Multipass C530.
Prior to this I was using the Epson Perfection 610.
I purchased this Flatbed Scanner early last year at a price of around PDS.100.00 (One hundred pounds)
The scanner was very easy to hook up. Just plug in the USB, plug in the power, install the software and your done. I think it took me only 15 minutes from the time I took it out of the box.
It comes with Adobe Photoshop 5 software, which is very useful and probably the best around, at that time, for this scanner.
Maximum resolution you can obtain is 9600 x 9600 dpi but I doubt you would ever need this. If you do use the higher dpi then be prepared with enough free hard disk space, zip drive or CD memory.
You get very clear...

The Perfect Scan!
Review of Epson Perfection 1670 Photo by
kelr101
Advantages: Good quality, Low price, V.Easy install
Disadvantages: Occasional freezing of software if scanner program left inactive
...After months of struggle with my Manager and IT department, I was finally allowed to upgrade my standard company PC, to a faster model with more memory, better processor, and larger hard drive capacity. Due to this, I also upgraded my Operating System to Windows XP, from Windows NT4 and as a result my current scanner, a HP1200s was made redundant as it was not compatible with Windows XP, nor could a driver update be found by Hewlett Packard to allow it to run. Therefore I had free reign to purchase a new scanner using the company's purchasing department.
*Choosing a Scanner*
To ensure approval by my manager alone and without needing IT approval, I needed to spend below GBP100.00 (excluding VAT) on the new scanner, so I started my search on Dabs.com, an online company selling technological products.
I wanted a brand I was familiar...

Excellent Quality A3 Flatbed Scanner
Review of Epson GT 15000 Pro by
BorisHotch
Advantages: Full A3 Flatbed Scanner, Very Fast
Disadvantages: Price, Glass can get scratched, Heavy (13Kg)
...This A3 flatbed scanner was purchased to compliment an older Epson GT12000 Scanner.
The initial setup was very straightforward, being both SCSI and USB, with the USB being the preferred method mainly for the convenience of being able to switch on the scanner without having to reboot the machine (which has to be done with SCSI if it wasn't on at bootup), and also not having to take the case off the PC to install a SCSI card.
It is also possible to connect it with an optional IEEE 1394 (Firewire) card, which can transfer data at up to 400Mbps, but I can't say how much it costs or if its easy to set up, apart from the fact that you have to remove the back of the scanner to insert the card.
Another optional extra available is an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), which allows you to scan in up to 100 sheets. The only downside...

Super Scanner at a Special Price
Review of Epson Perfection 1250 by
LtSticks
Advantages: Simple, good interface, quality results
Disadvantages: None!
...I hadn't bought a scanner before I purchased this one, and so I wasn't sure of the results, however Epson is a good name to trust and so I felt that a scanner from them at less than 100 pounds would be reasonable.
And my expectations were blown out the water! The software is excellent, the scanner itself is easy to install and work, and the additional programs with the package are outstanding.
The scanner even comes with an adapter to scan photo negatives! Which although not useful for all, makes me feel that Epson have pulled out all the stops to ensure this package is well worth the price.
I would recommend this to anyone buying a scanner for the first time, or even if they just want a new one. Epson have delivered the goods, as always....

Epson Perfection 1200U
Review of Epson Perfection 1200U by
tycoon
Advantages: Ease of installation, good picture quality
Disadvantages: No
...the old driver was removed, the new one reloaded and my scanner worked fine again.
If there was ONE THING I would change about this scanner is this: the bulb is continually on while the scanner unit is turned on. It doesn't shut off after a few minutes of un-use and I read in the manual the bulb has an approximate life of 10,000 hours. Well, I'm horrible about leaving all of my peripherals on all the time and have tried to discipline myself to turn off the unit after I'm done with it, but several times it's stayed on all night with the bulb lit.
I definitely recommend this to anyone who is on a budget yet needs a scanner with excellent 1200dpi quality....

Too expensive for an A3 scanner???
Review of Epson GT 15000 by
andyw22
Advantages: Great resolution options, speed and ease of use
Disadvantages: Price may put people off
...We were looking at buying a good quality scanner for some time and two main criteria had to be met by the purchase.
Firstly, my job often requires me to don my graphic design hat in order to create marketing and promotional literature for various people, products and campaigns. And to date I don't think I have produced some work where pictures have not been featured. Is this relevant to a scanner review I hear you ask.......... well yes, as I often need to convert printed photographs into a digital format when creating the aforementioned literature.
Secondly, the product design side of my job requires me to scan A3 technical drawings, so they can be emailed to customers and suppliers all over the world. With these two criterions established we felt they were met comfortably by the Epson GT15000.
I was a bit taken back by the shear...

Best buy, Absolutely
Review of Microtek Scanmaker III by
darkteckno
Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Case colour
...I bought the scanner after Which? made it one of their best buys. According to Which? it has the best scan quality of all the scanners they looked at, despite being one of the cheapest. Sure enough the scan quality is indeed excellent and, although I have not thoroughly explored the software as yet, I have so far been impressed with that also. I would not hesitate to recommend the 3600 to you. This is an Excellent scanner which produces excellent quality print with an Epson stylus 760 printer. I would recomend anyone on a budget to buy this scanner as it does the same as a scanner that costs twice the price....

Hewlett Packard cheaper than Epson scanners
Review of HP ScanJet 5370C by
Connoisseur_Haggler
Advantages: colour quality, can scan negatives
Disadvantages: Epson expensive
...There are a vast array of A4 flad bed scanners on the market today.
Even some of the basic ones from 600 dpi offer superb results.
I decided to look for one in the 600dpi+ range that not only scans photos and objects but also allows you to scan in negatives (very useful for old photos etc)
The HP products are renounced for reliabilty, quality and reproducibilty and are not always cheap. However when I found the HP scanner of my choice HP5370 it appeared to have the same technical sppecification and features as a similarly priced EPSON 1240U Photo, BUT the HP is at least £55 cheaper!! This is strange! If anyone can give a true comparison between these 2 scanners:
HP5370C v's EPSON Perfection 1240U Photo
They are both 1200 x 2400 dpi optical
Both are 42bit colour
Both have film./slide adapter to scan negatives too!
Both have OCR, 4...
