School dinners - but bigger portions!

...Theres a clue in the name here. School dinners bar/restaurant, situated just round the corner from Farringdon tube station in London, is a great venue for your hen/stag/party night out. The theme, as you've guessed is being back at school and if you go there expecting to just have a good night out with your mates you will be dissapointed because you will be forced to have a great night out with everyone in attendance! From the Eaten boys to the St Trinian girls, from the headmaster Mr R U Tuckman to the headmistress Mrs M E Bedworthy, the costumes and characters are all there and are all good at their roles. Cane in hand the headmaster will tolerate no misbehaving or food fights. Cross his path and you can expect 10 of the best whilst bent over the school desk! The evening is very well put together. Arriving between 7 and 8 pm...

I want a private Dinner Date!

Advantages: Good recipes.
Disadvantages: Bad conversations.

...Dinner Date is a modern attempt (in my own opinion) of making dating seem somewhat more exciting that what it is supposed to be, but with dating it is what the two people who are on the date make. On this show, the whole point of it is somewhat odd as it fabricates dates with people that may not otherwise go on a date with 'the other person' - let me explain. At the start of the show, an individual is given around six menus that have been created by six other people that they hope to cook for that one individual. But the individual based on what the menus are, has to choose three of those people in order to go to their house and have that meal cooked for them by that particular person - in the hope that it will win them over, and that there will be a happy ending of a more long term relationship....

Lunch @ Dinner

Advantages: Proper "English" food.
Disadvantages: As of now (April), fully booked til August.......

...It was fast approaching the man?s 40th birthday and as you?re only forty once (unless you plan on reaching 80), then I decided that he was due a treat. As he is a foodie fan, I spent a long time reading various restaurant menus until finally, I hit gold ....I?d heard Heston Blumenthal was opening a new London venture located within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge and once the initial manic clamour for bookings died down, snagged myself a lunchtime reservation which I made a month in advance. . . Ahh, Heston - that likeable but slightly odd man who serves snail porridge at his restaurant in Bray and whips up lickable wallpaper and seagulls that poop tartar sauce on his Food Feasts programmes.....well, ?Dinner? is nothing like that. Much time was spent researching old recipe books for long-lost recipes, infact, one item...
