Speaking as a parent having to buy two lots of uniform each year I think its brilliant. It takes the worry out of what my children need to wear each morning, They can just open the wardrobe and pop on the exactly what every other kid at school is going to be wearing, there is no need to spend ages picking clothes out. I also find that uniform is relatively cheap, for each of my children I buy two jumpers a year, this usually comes in around £15 a jumper so £60 in total, and a school tie which is £3.50. I then buy my school shirts from Tesco, a pack of three each usually lasts the year and cost £6.00 each so £12.00 in total. Before I get into specifics about my opinion on this I would like to look at both sides of the argument in order to ascertain whether or not in general, people think that they should be abolished or not. The argument FOR uniforms being abolished Most children will tell you that they do not like school uniforms and that they would rather wear their own clothes to school. When I was at school in the seventies and eighties I did not like wearing a school uniform. Then again, in time honoured fashion, tell a child that they have to do something and they will probably veer towards the goal of not doing it. Unity in Uniforms

...Personally I will always opt for uniforms in schools , The reasoning for me is very personal , as a child I was bought up in a series of children's & Foster homes moving frequently from one set of foster parents to the other , also moving from school to school . I never felt more settled than the times I was in school. Uniforms to me represented my inclusion , if I was wearing the same as everyone else , then I looked like everyone else , no one could see my broken situation of which I was quite ashamed . Moving on through my formative years I also attended schools where Uniforms weren't a compulsory requirement , these schools literally had the worst effect possible on me and my confidence .My fellow pupils would often look on me with contempt ,calling out " look at the gypsy girl " amongst other more brutal comments and all...
