Great day out for the whole family!
Review of Science Museum (London) by  apo11o

Advantages: Something for everyone. Fascinating.
Disadvantages: Not quite as impressive as the Natural History Museum (but almost!)

...The Science museum in South Kensington is an amazing place. If you haven't been there lately you really should check it out soon. It's comparable to the Natural History Museum (next door) in terms of its vast size and breathtaking exhibitions. At the science museum however there are more interactive labs than at the natural history museum, so it is perhaps more enjoyable for the kids. They'll have lots of opportunities to play with things like rockets and propellers whilst learning about the engineering behind them. You can learn about all elements of science from space exploration to chemistry, medicine, telecommunications, and nuclear power. The exhibition about Leonardo Davinci with it's life-sized model of Leonardo's flying machine and other inventions is particularly impressive, whilst very informative. As with the natural... A great day out.
Review of Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester by  jimgib

Advantages: Pleanty to do and inexpensive
Disadvantages: None

...This is how a museum should be. It is designed primarily for child and people who cannot resist having a touch. Its is fantastic, exhibits include working steam engines, trains and plenty of hands on exhibits. One of my favourites is the air and transport museum attached to the science and industry museum (included in the price) My children particularly enjoyed the Xperiment section. This is truly a hands on section of the exhibition, the kids loved it. Entry fee is great, only £5.00 for adults and the kids go free. Plenty of car parking space but this will cost you and extra £1.50 To find the museum travel down Deansgate in the city centre and follow the signs for Castlefield. A good and inexpensive day out to keep the kids amused during the holidays... Read review

Better than my hometown Science museum
Review of Franklin Institute Science Museum, Philadelphia by  jasonking12

Advantages: A great, must-see museum.
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I spent almost a whole day at the Franklin Institute on my own after my wife recommended it, having told me her fond memories of visiting it herself on school class trips. It is a beautifully designed centre commited to the demonstration of science in a fairly fun and very informative way; there are activities and demonstrations for people of all ages. (however some of it is a little difficult to understand for young kids; but thats OK because ' the touch museum', specifically designed for young children isnt far away; my 4 year old loves it) Throughout the day there are comprehensive demonstrations on many of the museums subject matter and plenty of permanent exhibits as well as various guest exhibits throughout the year (there was a rescent Titanic exhibit that was so darn cool) There is a great IMAX theater and planetarium... A good day out
Review of Science Museum (London) by  chaochao

Advantages: good day out for the family
Disadvantages: got to go via the tube-no parking

...The science musemum is a good day out for the kids. I used to go there every summer. The learning zone is good fun where kids can send the whole day there. (There are activities which encourage team work, there are puzzles to solve and lots of experiments.) The science is up to date with recent events and inventions. Every day there are talks for the children which lasts for an hour- is a good break for the adults. If you go during the holiday seasons there are compitions and lots more. The science musemum is really suitable for a family day out but it will probably take more than a day to see every thing properly.... Read review

If you're in London go here!
Review of Science Museum (London) by  jillmurphy

Advantages: Too numerous to mention
Disadvantages: You have to go to London

...If you're in London with children you should make a definite visit to the Science Museum. It's massive and you couldn't do it all in a day so note the following tips:- - The floors are arranged to suit different ages so for the younger ones start in the basement and for the oldest start at the top. - Downstairs is an area where you can eat your own food! Take my word for it this is not the norm in central London! It's refreshing to find somewhere that doesn't fleece you for an awful meal, or soggy sandwich! - Entrance is free after 4.30pm, but if you leave it this late you won't see much. If, like me, your children love buttons take them to the Science Museum, in our house it's known as Mecca.... Read review

As disappointing as a British Summer
Review of Science Museum (London) by  nattinoo1970

Advantages: Easy to get to
Disadvantages: Many problems with find your way around once inside

...We decided to go the Science Museum as our 12 year old son is mad about science. It was fairly easy to get to as it can be reached at South Kensington Station on the underground via both the District and Circle lines. Entry to the museum is free, which is great once you have spent a fortune on travel to get there! What a disappointment though. We were all thoroughly miserable by the time we left. You get a map to the whole museum as a leaflet - which you have to help yourself to - but the map is not very user-friendly, as it is all in very small font/symbols. The museum itself is very difficult to navigate around. The reference for exhibits in the map does not help you find them whilst you are walking around. The signage around the museum is very poor and there seems to be a desperate shortage of staff - well VISIBLE staff... Read review

BMW museum
Review of BMW Museum - Munich by  medgenie

Advantages: Very interesting
Disadvantages: na

...Apart from being the country of sausages, Germany is also famous for cars which are of very good quality. One of the most well known brands is of course BMW(Bavarian Motor Works) and a visit to the museum of the firm in Munich will definitely appeal to car lovers. Just round the corner from the Olympic park, the museum contains exhibits of many of their well-known and most advancedly designed models. Apart from being a showroom, the place also serves as a science museum for car manufacturing techniques and car technology. There are many games and exhibit that detail the mechanism and theory behind the design of the car-very informative and intreresting. You also have the change to try out some of the experiments available. I personally liked this part of the museum very much and i do appreciate the effort and research the firm... Read review

Hands on
Review of Science Museum (London) by  willsmj

Advantages: exciting
Disadvantages: few

...The science museum is situated just off the A4 near Kensington in London. I recently took my 15 year old son and 13 year old daughter for a day out and thought that we would go via the tube system. It was great, we got off at South Kensington and used the underground walkways which led us right up to the museum without having to cross any roads etc. Once inside the museum there are several floors of differing subjects, ie, flight, electric, information technology, water, space........... The building is vast and even with lots of people inside there was plenty of room to manouvre. Many of the areas have 'hands on' which is good for kids and adults alike. There is plenty to see and plenty to do. Several computers are available for use which supply information, and you can even create your very own website with your photo on it to see... Read review

Good fun- the onlookers guide
Review of Re Volt (DC) by  traceyhand

Advantages: top graphics, good fun
Disadvantages: hard to control at first

...Ok, me again, my husband has a DC and I have to admit this is my favourite game for it, as a watcher of game-playing! You have little toy remote control cars to race about some rather unusual settings as well as some normal ones, like a local neighbourhood, a science museum, an arboretum of somesort and a supermarket etc The graphics are amazing, especially in the space/science museum. I don't suppose players really get the chance to appreciate them like I do watching, but they really are good. I think this game is tops and I always ask hubby to put it on when he drags out the DC!... Read review

Blinded with Science
Review of Science Museum (London) by  TheHairyGodmother

Advantages: Super attractions that change regularly, ideal for kids, IMAX Cinema
Disadvantages: None

...I spend a lot of time in the London Science Museum, partly because it is now free to enter, and partly because I have a great love of all the sciences. Few places excite me as much as the thrill of a trip to the Science Museum. The museum is also open seven days a week between 10am and 6pm, which means it is possible to fit in visits around worktime. Ths Science Museum is located in Exhibition Road in South Kensington and is accessible by many forms of public transport. I will give a more detailed list of directions at the end of the review. Although the admission is free, you will still have to pay certain fees for different exhibitions and simulators. The Simex Simulator ride, IMAX 3D Cinema both carry an extra fee, along with quite a few other exhibitions so make sure you do take some money with you when you visit. The museum... Read review
