Undoubtedly the most famous of all of Shakespeare's plays, Hamlet remains one of the most enduring but also enigmatic pieces of western literature. The story of Hamlet, the young Prince of Denmark, his tortured relationship with his mother, and his quest to avenge his father's murder at the hand of his brother Claudius has fascinated writers and audiences ever since it was written around 1600. For many years interest focused on both Hamlet's inability to avenge his father's death, claiming that "the native hue of resolution / Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought", and, according to none other than Freud, his oedipal fixation with his mother. However, more recently critics have turned their attention to Hamlet's bold theatrical self-reflexivity (most famously reflected in the performance of "The Mousetrap"), its fascination with issues of theology and Renaissance humanism, and its dense, complex poetic language. What is so remarkable about the play is the way in which it tends to uncannily reflect the concerns of different epochs. As a result, Hamlet has been at different moments defined as a romantic rebel, an angst-ridden existentialist, a paralysed intellectual and an ambivalent New Man. Whatever subsequent generations make of Hamlet, they are unlikely to exhaust the possibilities of this most extraordinary play. --Jerry Brotton ... less

This is a novel account of social change that supplants conventional understandings of 'society' and presents a sociology that takes as its main unit of analysis flows through time and across space. Developing a comparative analysis of the UK and US, the new Germany and Japan, Lash and Urry show how restructuration after organized capitalism has its basis in increasingly reflexive social actors and organizations. The consequence is not only the much-vaunted 'postmodern condition' but also a growth in reflexivity. In exploring this new reflexive world, the authors argue that today's economies are increasingly ones of signs - information, symbols, images, desire - and of space, where both signs and social subjects - refugees, financiers, tourists and fl[ci]aneurs - are mobile over ever greater distances at ever greater speeds. ... less

Scott Reflex 20 - A good all rounder.
Advantages: Good frame, Fast climber, Well specced. Good to upgrade over time.
Disadvantages: Tyres wear out quickly, Can't fit big tyres.
...I bought my Reflex 20 about 6 months ago. From the off she was upgraded so I can only give you the low down on what I rode.
Upgrades are tyres, pedals, stem, forks and brakes.
I ride a bit of all terrains. Commuting to work along a 6 mile route that rakes in a bit of road, steep hills and some smooth single track, worth the slight detour, so it gave me a good indication of where the bikes...

Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Advantages: Quirky, good actors, funny, plot that keeps you interested
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...After reading all the comics of Scott Pilgrim, I knew that I had to watch the film when it came out. It seemed like it would be a bit of a different film and that they would actually follow the books for once which is great! It combines reality with a bit of comic book action which is always good in my opinion.
I rented it from Blockbuster, but I'm guessing it would be about £7 now new from...

...Scott`s porage oats are milled in Cupar,Fife,Scotland and have been since 1888.
For as long as I can remember the packet has always had the familiar picture on the front, the poised Highland Shot -putter in the grain field.
During the latter part of the 1990`s Scott`s ran a successful advertising campaign featuring the actor Rory McCann. The advert is posted on Youtube if any of you have never...
