Advantages: animals had brilliant enclosures Disadvantages: limited facilites other than the animals
...of the water.
Scottish animals are well represented within the park with red deer, the Scottish wildcat which is native to the Cairngorm mountains and is known as the Highland tiger, pine martins, otter and the endangered bird the cappercaillie. I like this focus on native animals as well as the more exotic species.
More exotic animals include the red panda, snowy white arctic foxes, tigers and lynx. The setting of the park in a mountainous region is the ideal home to many of these animals as it is very similar to their natural environments so it allows them to thrive and express a lot of natural behaviour. Many of the enclosures had impressive viewing huts with glass windows allowing you to see the animals better.
Apart from the animals there is a café and gift shop and a small children?s playpark, I think they could do with expanding these...
Advantages: Blended for use with soft water Disadvantages: May not be available in other places
...Scotland is well known for its Pyramids, in fact in West Lothian we have quite a few, although I admit they are really called ?bings? a result from coal and shale mining, but along the M8 there are art projects including pyramids to brighten up the journey between Edinburgh and Glasgow! Seriously though I?m taking about Scottish Blend pyramid tea bags made especially for soft Scottish water.
Serious tea drinkers will know that the same tea bag or leaves tastes differently depending on the area and type of water. I used to love to get home after holidays for a decent cup of tea!
I stopped drinking tea with caffeine a couple of years ago but have started to have the odd cup of tea instead of my usual fruit infusions. And as I filled up the Tea caddy with bags I thought I must tell people what Scottish blend is like.
My box has...
Advantages: interesting tour Disadvantages: a bit boring if you dont like politics
...Holyrood has been home to the Scottish Government since 2004 and the building designed by Catalan architect Enric Miralles was the subject of much controversy because of the massive amounts of money spent on building it and many hated the modern design. I was invited to the parliament building as part of a group by my local MSP and after we had a meeting we were given a tour of the building by her researcher. My experience will be slightly different to most visitors as we visited on a day when the parliament was sitting, public tours normally only take place on non business days. Visit the Scottish government website for more details about what days and time tours take place.
Holyrood is at the bottom of the Royal Mile near to Arthur's seat, it is a lovely walk through the lovely cobbled old streets from the city centre to...
Advantages: Flavorful tea especially blended for soft water Disadvantages: Difficult to procure (in the States, that is), short of a trip to Scotland
..."It's no' th' tea," said my Scottish friend. "It's th' water. Ye kin take th' tea home, but ye kin no' take th' water."
Hmmmm, well, I grant that most places I've visited in Scotland have wonderfully soft and pleasant-tasting water. Still and all, we also have very nice soft water in my little corner of America. We don't, however, have ready access to Scottish Blend tea. Fortunately, this particular problem is easy to solve--just fly off to Scotland often enough to keep a ready supply on hand! (Failing that, Scottish Blend can sometimes be found in the States at specialty shops stocking UK foodstuffs.)
You may think I'm jesting with this flippant remark about flying off to Scotland. I'm not. Scotland and I have been involved in a torrid love affair for just over a decade now, and I cross the Pond to this bonny piece...
Advantages: A friend for life Disadvantages: None - unless you like your garden!!!
...are they? **
Scotties, Scottish Terriers, or Aberdeen Terriers are a wonderful dog, they are loyal, and great fun to have around.
They are generally black in colour, but can be brindle (sort of grey) and wheaten (creamy coloured) A lot of people do confuse Scotties with their cousins the Westie (who are white). They are quite a stocky dog, not too small and not too big, and have a wonderful trusting loving character to them.
The Scottie was originally bred in Scotland to hunt foxes and badgers, although if mine saw a fox or badger, they would probably hide behind my legs going ?ggrrrrr, whoooaaa, phrrrr? which translates to ?Go on then dad, you sort it out?
** They're snappy, aren't they? **
If I could have a pound for everyone that has said that to me, I would be very rich. As I mentioned earlier, I'm on Scotties number 5...

Review of Scottish Terrier
Advantages: A classic film with cult status Disadvantages: Not many extras here.
...Highlander is one of those films that caught the audience unawares when it first came out. It had very little in the way of publicity, but the strong story and great 'presence' of the film soon spread the word that this was one movie to go and watch.
The plot is pretty simple, a Scottish warrior of the MacLeod clan in 1536 is fighting another clan and is wounded in battle. He realizes that he is different from everyone else, however, when his near fatal wounds heal up completely and it makes everyone else afraid. He meets a strange man (Connery) who explains that MacLeod is an immortal and cannot die.
It transpires that the immortals have fought each other through time and he has to train to fight to the death (which, for an immortal, means decapitation with a special sword) Refusing this, he hides out. The audience next join him...

Review of Highlander 1
Advantages: Good handling of a mediochre script Disadvantages: Script and constant darkness
...Highlander II: The Quickening is the 1991 sequel to the 1986 film Highlander, which pitted immortal Connor MacLeod against an evil immortal at an event known as the Gathering. Director Russell Mulcahy returns for the sequel, as does Christopher Lambert as MacLeod. The film was less successful than the first, with a rather dubious and other-worldly plot and a low level of special effects reducing it to a more cult status than a commercial success.
Follwing the events of Highlander, Connor MacLeod (Lambert) joins forces with scientists to protect a dying ozone. With much of the world unprotected against the sun, they construct a shield, which protects the planet, but has the side effect of causing eternal night. Years on, in 2024, MacLeod is visited in a vision by his old friend Ramirez (Connery) and he sees the evil of General Katana...
...Cameron Highlands is a highland region located east of Ipoh state. It is 1500m above sea level and has a cool climate, temperatures not rising above 25 degrees and not falling below 12 degrees year-round. I went to Cameron Highlands with my parents on Monday, the 8th. We stayed at Hotel Equatorial, which is one of the best hotels in Cameron. We visited many key attractions, including the strawberry farm, rose gardens, vegetable farms, tea plantations, bee farms, cactus farms and many more.
At the entrance of Equatorial Hotel, to your left, you will go down to Kea Farm, where many stalls lie in. This farm is by far, the most crowded and popular among locals and tourists. However, the traffic there is very messy and you have to be very careful. In Kea Farm, I would recommend a stall selling deep-fried oyster mushrooms, sweet potatoes...
Advantages: A wonderful insight into the world of these remote UK places Disadvantages: None
...Are you a lover of wild and remote places, or do you dream of one day of escaping to somewhere quiet and serene? - Well if so I have the magazine which will take you there from your armchair. I have a passion for The Scottish Islands and have visited most of them, and was delighted when I saw an advert for a magazine totally devoted to these remote shores.
It was the year 2000 and the first issues were being launched from Fair Isle by Linda Grieve and Philip Welch. These were initially in black and white, and were little more than a few pages of news and stories. At this early stage there were 50 subscribers, myself included.
Fair Isle is a small island between Orkney and Shetland, and is home to only 70 people. The launch of this magazine, which was little more than a newsletter at first, was the beginning of something which was to...
Advantages: Very interesting and an Iconic symbol to Scotland Disadvantages: The price of the building £460 million to build!!!
...**What Is It?**
The Scottish Parliament of Scotland is the central place of Scottish Politics. The parliament has 129 members called MSP's (Members of the Scottish Parliament) This is where they do some of there work, debating certain issues and representing their constiuency and/or region. They have been working in the Scottish Parliament since October 2004.
**Why I Went**
My mum actaully works for the one of the Ministers so i'm in and out all the time and have been there at least 50 times! So i'm seeing writing my first impressions and what it would be like to a tourist. I've been with the school so i'll also write about that! Enjoy...
