Advantages: Great staff, excellent teaching methods, beautiful marine life

Taster Sessions Every day at 12.30, guests of the hotel were able to take part in ?Taster Sessions? which are great for people who have never tried scuba diving and would like to see what it is all about. ...Tony Backhurst Scuba Travel has certainly earned the right to use the words "award winning" when it comes to organising diving holidays and in particular liveaboard diving holidays as it has scooped the 2005 Diver Awards Tour Operator of the Year Award and one of its boat Hurricane has scooped top Liveaboard of the Year and these awards are not a one off as it has been the second year in a row that it has scooped both prizes which are voted for my the diving public. ...I, as is fairly obvious from my username and mentioned in many previous reviews love scuba, and the marine world. Not previously mentioned is my love if unusual or one off pieces of jewellery. This brand of jewellery serves the almost impossible function of uniting these two loves. I first found this brand when I attended one of the annual dive shows at the Birmingham NEC, and its is advertised in all issues of Diver Magazine (also I think Sport Diver and Dive but I haven?t got copies of these to hand to check). The site layout is to me at least attractive and appealing, it currently shows pieces from the collection behind the text, and only a couple of pieces are featured (it does change occasionally which pieces are shown). Recreational Scuba Diving

...When I first travelled to Montserrat on field work, I had the opportunity to go scuba diving. My PhD supervisor is a keen diver, and as he was going to dive while we were out there, it was an opportunity for me to try it. As I have always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, I went for it! Initially I tried a resort dive, to see if I enjoyed it and felt comfortable with it. It would be pointless me doing a full course if I felt unhappy and frightened. The resort dive consists of a short pool session, where you are shown how to use your equipment and certain emergency procedures like, how to empty to your mask and how to share air. At first hearing and watching SCUBA Diving on T.V i imagined it to be a very highly trained sport, with lot's of money needed to be spent on in courses, and not to be done as recreation. Advantages: Beaches, People, Food, Weather, Beach sports and Diving
Disadvantages: Accommodation is roughly double the rate of other parts of Thailand, but still cheap compared to Europe and places like Hawaii. Cheaper accom can be found, but harder to find.

...makes it a ?must place? to go if your into scuba diving or fishing. The beaches are clean and the food is fantastic. My favourite beaches were Kata Yai (big) and Kata Noi (small). Both are resort beaches that still retain the beauty of Phuket. Both are ideal for families. People may be suprised that there is a Tesco superstore on the island under the brand name of "Lotus". Here they sell a whole range of goods. So don't pack your case in the UK with cosmetic goods, camera film, sun tan lotion, shampoo, toothpaste, mosquito creams, deodorants etc. As they can be brought for around half the UK price. This is the best place to buy whiskey, vodka, gin etc. Don't buy your spirits from Bangkok Airport as prices are double. My only criticism with Phuket was Phuket Town. ...Having just been away on a 2 week holiday in Tenerife i must write my views on scuba diving after having tried it for the first time!! We were picked up from the apartments and taken to the bay to get aboard our boat for the morning!! i have to add i absolutely hate boats and always feel sick but i was prepared to put up with that to try the scuba dive!! Once reaching our destination everybody was briefed on what would happen, and we got changed into our diving gear. Everybody had an instructor each, once in the water and breathing was established!! diving began!! it was brilliant!!!! i would recommend it to anybody, its so lovely and to think thats only a small part that we saw!!! we saw quite a few different sorts of fish and were probably in the water for about 20/25 minutes, but well worth it!!!! ..., Im digressing here, after a short walk up to the pier advertising tourist diversions I spotted the scuba diving and decided "Ill have some of that" and signed up for the princely sum of 1400 rupees (about 30 quid). Forget the name of the place, it was something French though and about 10 minutes drive out of Grand Baie. Shash's father in law dropped me off at the diving centre - an unassuming building attached to the swankiest hotel I have ever seen. I was residing at Roach Motel and was now standing in the car park of an opulent palace the likes of which Id probably never see again!
