Circle One wetsuits

Advantages: Keeps you warm
Disadvantages: A bit thin for winter surfing

...Over all I was pleased with this wetsuit, its does the job and was redeemably priced. COMFORT AND PARCTICALITY A wetsuits comfort, whatever make it is will depend on wither it is a short summer suit or a long winter one. A short suit would be more comfortable when the water is warmer and you are spending more time on the beach itself, however if a short suit is too larger it tends to shift around much more giving you're a very sour neck. Most Circle One longies make good summer and winter suits because they are thin enough that you will not get too hot in the summer but it is still bearable in January/ February, however it is still important to get one the right size because wearing one which is too small will restrict your movement and one which is too large will rub on your neck and chest. If you do own one which is only slightly...

Crusader 5/3mm titanium winter wetsuit

Advantages: Cheap, some decent features
Disadvantages: Cheap!

...Having bought a few big name wetsuits which were by no means perfect I thought I'd try one of the cheap, no frills options. Crusader sell direct from their website or on ebay. The ebay option works out cheaper most of the time and the delivery is pretty quick. The suit itself is nothing special to look at; standard black with red or blue trim. There are no pre-bent elbows or knees here, just thick, standard neoprene. Movement is restricted by this suit moreso than in a more expensive brand, but not by a great deal. The fit isn't great, the torso having no contouring to it. Buy one for a guy with a big chest and you'll find a little too much loose material around the waist. The other problem with these standard sizes is that taller people will struggle. There is no extra tall option so you may find yourself going from Large to...

Snug As A Bug In A Rug

Advantages: Full protection for your body.Outstanding value for money
Disadvantages: Only suitable really for warm water diving

...MARES Tropic 3MM Wetsuit. I am a warm water diver and decided it was about time I invested in a full wetsuit. Being female although a fairly normal 12-14 size in clothing but obviously having curves decided to follow one of the things I learnt in my PADI Open Water course and that comfort and fit were highly important so decided I should "try before I buy" so decided buying on the internet was not an option. Where Purchased From And Cost. I bought this suit at LIDS (London International Dive Show) last year at a cost of £40 which I thought was a real bargain. Why I Chose This Wetsuit. I really wanted the ScubaPro 5mm wetsuit but on trying it on it didn't fit well under the arms and it was really difficult to get on. I tried on another wetsuit of a different make but again didn't fit very well although it was a nice girly...

Review of Mares Tropic 3MM Wetsuit

A natural answer

Advantages: Impressive speed, flexible, good performers
Disadvantages: Pricey, flimsy straps, poor feedback

...channeled and reduce fatigue on the diver's shins. I often suffer from cramp when wearing "conventional" fins that do not have this feature. The acceleration is very quick and the kick action can be modified to suit the diver, I now use a flutter kick, which propels me as well as a full leg kick. The twin blades are responsible for this, as they create a hydrofoil effect and maximise the amount of thrust for every fin kick. Buddies have complained that I'm too quick when wearing these, but, as ever, YMMV. DOWNSIDES The straps that came with the fins were replaced quickly with bungee cord, which allows me to get them on and off very easily and quickly. I broke a strap clip on the second day of diving and decided not to buy new ones because of the price of replacements. Scubapro updated the clips since I bought these fins and, to be quite...

SheDives in the Tropical pool?

Advantages: warm enough, comfy
Disadvantages: the colour scheme isnt to my taste

...No surprises here but I like to scuba dive, sadly for me a good 90% of my dives these days are working with students and of those over half are in the local pool when assisting on confined water dives or conducting the Discover Scuba program (try dives to the rest of the world). So for me a good quality wetsuit is essential as in the pool I would look slightly ridiculous in a dry suit and it doesnt look overly professional for me to be bimbling about cellulite on display in my bikini. My original shorty suit cost me less than £30 over 6 years ago and is currently developing holes in the shoulders so time to invest in a new one. I have to admit my choices of suit to walk in to my LDS to just pick up and walk away with were limited to the Mares range or Cressi, but after trying on several other suits at other shops I settled...

Oceanic Cyberskin Wetsuit

Advantages: Lightweight and flexible
Disadvantages: None

...As I feel the cold quite often when I'm diving I decided to invest in a cyberskin as I had read good reports about it in various dive magazines. I wasn't keen on buying a semi-dry to take abroad with me as I feel they can be cumbersome. I usually wear a 5mm Gul Steamer but felt I needed some extra insulation. The cyberskin is 0.5mm thick and extremely light. The material is silky and flexible and feels extremely comfortable. It comes in women's and men's sizes from small through to XXL and is £65. Although it is only 0.5mm thick it is equal in warmth to a 2mm wetsuit and can be used alone for diving in warmer waters. I bought an all in one with a back zipper but it is possible to purchase it as a separate top and bottoms. I had thought that it might be difficult to get my 5mm wetsuit over the top of it but in actual fact it made it...

Review of Oceanic Cyberskin 5mm

Circle one review.

Advantages: Competative price/durable
Disadvantages: Can be quite cold in winter.

...As a company circle one has a good reputation for making good quality wetsuits. My current winter wetsuit is from them and I find that it is exceptionally durable and comfortable. Some of the more expensive branded products (quicksilver, rip curl etc) do not appear to be as well made. Many of my friends have had problems with their suits coming apart at the seems but I have never had a problem with my suit or know of anybody who has. It seems your paying for the quality rather than the brand name. It's true that they arent as stylish as many other branded suits but they are definetly a good buy. As mentioned in the previous review the cheapest time to buy a wet suit is end of season (winter one end of winter) summer- end of summer. The wet suit is five milimeters thick (summer suits are normally around three) which is about...

Review of Circle One Wetsuits

a product that lives up to it's name

Advantages: affordable, non-restrictive, non-bulky and very toasty
Disadvantages: haven't come across any yet - except you might be a bit too toasty!

...Finally a set of protective gear which is warm, comfortable to wear - non-restrictve and non-chaffing. Ideal for surface sports where freedom of movement and limited drag are important. The material is a laminate of a very thin neoprene type outer with a microfleece inner - it is warm and close fitting - relatively waterproof against splashes; effective as a thermal layer as a fleece when dry and a wetsuit when wet. Fit is important and the range on offer is well designed across a range of sizes both male and female. You can get legs - cut for standing and sitting, shorts - cut the same, tops in short and long sleeves, short johns, hoods and caps. The range has obviously been well researched and is popular amongst paddlers and surfers, I could see it suiting dinghy sailors as maybe an under layer. I have heard that the material...

Review of Chill Cheater Wetsuits

Keeps you warm

Advantages: you have warmth
Disadvantages: easy to grow out of, same price as a secondhand drysuit

...therefore hiding most of your suit There is a new silver lining that is designed to keep the wear warmer by heating up the water that is trapped inside the suit. It works, trust me. I had a wetsuit one year, did a dive in about 15 degrees at a lake, got on alright, rather cold though. Came back with the semi dry, almost the same conditions and I was kept warm. Also whilst waiting on the side for the next dive the semi dry kept me warmer and it was less prone to feeling the cold. As with all semi dry suits they can be expensive and, if you are still growing then it can be a costly investment. However I have dived in the winter, bout 9 degrees water temp and about 8 degrees air temp, and the suit kept me warm. I could undress in stages, rather than have to take it all of and freeze. On saying that, if you waited and saved up about a hundred...

Sexy Silverskin

Advantages: Good Cuffs
Disadvantages: None

...Sliver on the Inside!! I bought a Silverskin a couple of years ago and never looked back since. I managed to negoctiate a price of £200 from a local dive shop. The cuffs are great because you can fold them and fold them to get a good seal. Ankle cuffs are great for the same reason as is the neck. The suit also drains very well from tthese cuffs, especially the Neck Cuff There is a good horizontal zip on the back which makes it easy for self dis-robing or your "buddy" to help you out. I would recommend attaching a small pull cord to ease this process. The Zip is very sturdy so if you do have a problem undoing it, pull it back to the beginning and start again. Padded shoulders, elbows and knees are an added bonus as damage to previous wet-suits has been quite costly. My suit is maunfactured from 90% Neoprene and 10...
