...Rick Stein - The Seafood Restaurant On a recent trip to Padstow, Cornwall we decided to go to Rick Steins famous fish restaurant, The Seafood Restaurant. Rick Stein is an English chef, restauranter and television presenter. He now specialises in fish cookery. He opened his first restaurant in Padstow in 1974 and now runs quite a few businesses in the town including a cake shop, cookery school and a fish and chip shop. The Seafood Restaurant is his upper class restaurant in the town and is known for it's fabulous fish. It really is in the best location for fish. Padstow is a historic fishing port and so receives fresh fish every day. The restaurant is right at one end of town by the harbour and so is perfectly place to recieve all the best catches of the day. It's quite hard to get a reservation in the restaurant. ...the foods that we had and the wine we also had. Baia is open for both Lunch (12PM-3PM) and Dinner (7pm-11pm). We passed this restaurant a few times before and it always looked busy and I have always gone on the impression that if the restaurant is busy then it must be a good choice so we decided to prebook as we were visiting on the weekend, on the night we made our visit is was fairly busy and it was a relief that we had booked. This restaurant is very cosmpolitan and was filled with younger clientle and was bustling with conversation and laughter, I would rate this as one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in and I got the opportunity to eat some of the best seafood ever!!!...

Decent seafood casserole for the lazy

...INTRODUCTION I have been working from home recently, and whilst channel surfing the TV during (ahem) one of my very occasional coffee breaks (of 2 hours duration), I chanced upon that old lush Keith Floyd in Marsailles cooking up a traditional French bouillabaisse. I quite fancied some of that but felt quite lazy to cook, and so I toddled to my local M&S and picked up a seafood casserole from their "Cook! Fish" range. I'm not sure if that name is appropriate really; I think more apt titles for some of the dishes in that range would be "Heat Up In Oven!", "Throw Together Ingredients In Frying Pan Without Burning!" or "Microwave And Stir You Lazy Sod!" but I suppose the subtle psychology employed to convince the consumer they're actually participating in the preparation would be somewhat lost. Disadvantages: Needs a facelift

.... The food was very good, but I was expecting something a little more from a restaurant mentioned in the Michelin Guide. I definitely think a facelift is in order, particularly for the carpet and chairs. If I am able to afford it in the future, there are one or two other local restaurants in a similar price range that I would prefer to try out. Meanwhile, I shall content myself with Rosie's Vineyard which, interestingly enough, is the only Portsmouth/Southsea restaurant that features in Harden's Restaurant Guide. So fresh they are still swimming

Advantages: Great ambience with a view of the bay, excellent food, very good service
Disadvantages: Horrible touristy area - sleaze on steroids

...To get to King seafood restaurant - situated in Pattaya's Walking Street, notorious for its "nightlife" - you have to run the gauntlet of pimps, touts, rip-off merchants, "service girls", "freelancers", and lady-boys until you see the huge neon sign proclaiming that the fish are so fresh "they are still swimming". Walking Street, as usual, was throbbing with people wanting to part the unwary tourist from their cash. Suit, sir? Sex show?. Neon lights flashing everywhere. Invitations aplenty. It's quite overwhelming - even if you're accustomed to it. "Hellooo, welcome inside me?" There are no photos for this review. We had a couple of cameras with us but we kept them in our bags. It's more bother than it's worth to look like a tourist in this area. I don't like Walking Street - it's a real tourist dive, and much more...

...a restaurant food person. I don't eat out all that much and I can't distinguish herbs and spices in a dish. I only know what tastes good and when the service is good. Saying that, the food we ate at the Waterfront was fantastic. When we sat down, the waitress immediately brought over a serving of scallops with a garlic dip for us to sample. It was the first time I had ever eaten scallops so although I liked them; I have to rely on my companions who said they were cooked perfectly. We started with the Seafood Chowder which had large chunks of scallops, salmon, sole and mussels in a creamy white sauce. I was afraid seafood chowder would be too fishy for my taste, but it was very mild. Two in our party had to stop after the chowder - it was VERY filling and they couldn't eat any more! ...The Restaurant is a TV programme shown on BBC 2 on Thursday nights! The show is a reality TV show and is similar to something like the Apprentice but a food version. This show is obviously based on the concept and success of many other TV shows like the Apprentice, food shows like Masterchef and all the other shows like Dragon`s Den, X Factor e.t.c The idea of the show is for world famous chef Raymond Blanc to find a couple to help him run a restaurant and the couples are gradually knocked out week by week until they have the winning couple. It is in its third season and seems to have got a bit worse. I still enjoy it but felt it used to be more exciting and interesting. Advantages: Gorgeous surroundings, loads of special dishes, the clay pot, waiters look the part
Disadvantages: Expensive wine and water, relatively small portion sizes, loads of manky cats
