Reviews of seagate barracuda 20 gb
Well Worth Buying
Review of Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 80 GB by
Stevis2002
Advantages: Well Priced, Good Storage, Fast access
Disadvantages: need to use disc manager software to install alongside another hard drive
...I found that my Maxtor 20GB hard drive was running out of space, so I went hunting for a replacement. The Seagate Barracuda 80GB was the drive I finally bought, and I can honestly say that it is the best value for mo0ney piece of hardware I have ever bought. At £65 from Ebuyer.com they don't come much better. I don't know all of the technical specifications, but I do know that it seems twice as fast as the Maxtor, as well as having four times the storage capacity. When I came to install it, I decided to run it as a second drive, and leave the Maxtor connected and just use it for the operating system and drivers. If you decide to use the Seagate this way, then you will need to download the Disc Manager program off the Seagate website,(www.seagate.com). Although the site is very easy to navigate around, and the program is easy to find...

None Better
Review of Seagate Hard drive 17.2 GB by
ciaobuddy
Advantages: The Best on the Market
Disadvantages: None
...I must say that I would never use anything other than a Seagate Hard Drive in any of my computers. I have never had a problem with them. They have never frozen, crashed, caused errors or any other major catastrophe.
Seagate make very reliable, easy to install hard drives at extemely affordable prices. I have tried others but at the end of the day, because the computers that I build have to be top notch, I will always plump for a Seagate. It doesn't matter what size it is their hard drives always perform to peak capacity and are compatible with any other component that I use.
You may think that I'm beginning to sound like a salesman but I think that, if you find something worth having, you should definately let others know about it.
Prices for the Seagate range from £32.95 for the 20GB U series x 20 to £360.99 for the 146.8GB...

Another great Seagate Drive
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250 GB by
pdthegreat
Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Noise
...Seagate have always made great hard drives and this is no excepetion it reads and writes fast.
This drive is one in a new range of seagate drives that use perpendicular recording technology, meaning more space per platter.
There is only one bad point to this drive and that is the noise you can here it read this may not be a problem for some but compared to the samsung hard drive I also have in my pc, the seagate makes the most noise (you cant hear the samsung).
Good points for this drive include the price its pritty cheap for the price and amount of storage you get, being a seagate you get a nice long 5 year guarantee.
Technical specs
- Capacity: 250 GB
- Speed: 7200 rpm
- Interface: SATA-II
- Cache: 16MB
- 5 year manufacturer''s warranty
To conclude this is an excellent hard drive as expected from such a great manufacture...

Best 7200.10 hard drive but still not perfect
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB by
neo1983
Advantages: Fast except multithread read, good capacity, stable, 5 years warranty
Disadvantages: Weak at multithread/multiple reads, a little noisy
...I've used a similar model for a long time and I have mixed opinions about 7200.10 hard drives.
The good things of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
Seagate hdd are the most stables drives in the market, I've used my drive for quite a time and never experienced a single problem.
Large capacity, 320 GB is more than enough (300 Gb real)
Good speed, especially at writing data, but also at reading excepting multiple file copy. Speed is about 75-80 Mb at large files
The access time is about 13-14ms (about the same as other hdd)
Temperature IS OK.
Very stable and reliable
The not so good things:
Multitasking read performance. While on single thread the performance is high, 75 Mb, while increasing the threads, many aplications used the speed drops at about 5-10 Mb
A little noisy especially when many aplications are used
Conclusion. Good hard drive...

Cheap but not very stable
Review of Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 80 GB by
beanp-271
Advantages: Cheap, fast, big storage amount
Disadvantages: Unreliable so regularly back up your files
...I was looking online for a new hard drive, to replace my old Maxtor one, when i found some very cheap Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 80GB drives for sale, and bought 2, for under £20. They were bth fully working, and i fitted them straight away, as altogether it was a storage capacity of 8 times more than my Maxtor hard drive, and the spindle speed was higher as well. I installed Windows XP without any problems at all, onto one of the drives, and used the other as a secondary drive to put my work files on. For a couple of months, i was happy, as I had spotted a bargain and the hard drives were fully workin, until the secondary drive just vanished, and wouldn't boot at all, no power would go to it and I ahd lost all my work files. So i carried on with the one 80GB drive, and installed my 20GB again for extra storage space. And then about...

Good hdd drive but check the multithread reading

IOMEGA 500GB EXTERNAL USB HARD DRIVE
Review of Iomega Desktop Hard Drive Value Series Hard drive 500 GB by
mrjwood
Advantages: Easy installation, looks good, ease of use
Disadvantages: None found
...I've bought two of these drives now and am very impressed. On opening the box you'll find the following: The drive itself, power supply, USB cable and an instruction leaflet.
The drive feels solid and well built, although the aluminium case does have some sharp edges near the front where it joins the plastic bezel.
The drive comes formatted to FAT32, but this is easily changed to NTFS.
Being a curious sort, I took one apart to find out the manufacturer of the actual drive inside and was happy to find a Seagate Barracuda, not the bottom of the range drive I was expecting!
Installation under Windows XP/Vista is a doddle, just plug in the power cable, plug in the USB cable, switch it on and it's automatically detected and ready to go.
In use, both drives have proved very reliable, and although transfer speeds over USB 2.0...

Barracudas fly.
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80 GB by
simcox1
Advantages: Quality make. Cost.
Disadvantages: Slight noise.
...it was just the drive. This is the normal way to buy hard drives on the net. A retail boxed version would have cost more. All the install instructions and any other help you need can be found on Seagate's website, as can their install wizard software. So you don't need to buy the boxed version.
There are other good makes out there, Western Digital is one, but I would certainly reccommend Seagate. If I were to buy a new hard drive today, I might opt for a slightly smaller capacity one, although that wouldn't save much. I might also consider the newer SATA drives. These cost more and it's usually better to wait until new technology is proven and cheaper.
Some extra info:
Device Type Internal
Width 10.2 cm
Depth 14.7 cm
Height 2.6 cm
Weight 0.5 kg
Form Factor 3.5" x 1/3H
Capacity 80 GB...

Champion hard drives
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40 GB by
adehh
Advantages: Fast, completely silent
Disadvantages: None.
...often format my main machine every 3-5 months to keep it running at best speed so the hard drive has certainly had its usage. I mainly use the machine for gaming and surfing the web, on both tasks the hard drive offers me the speed required.
I've also noticed with some hard drives that as they get older they become more and more noisy; this hasn't been the case with the Barracuda. Although I cannot say this is the same for all of the Seagate range, particularly the older models. I owned a Seagate Medallist for some time and this drive become very noisy in its older days.
If you're looking for a quick small capacity hard drive such as this one then go ahead and buy a Seagate Barracuda! If your motherboard supports it though I'd certainly look into the SATA version of this drive and read up on some reviews, there's a good chance...

Very quiet, fast HDD, Perpendicular recording
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB by
zedreview
Advantages: Fast, new Perpendicular Technology, very quiet, fair price
Disadvantages: Not keen on cloning software available from Seagate
...The 7200.10 hard disk drives from Seagate are the first to use new Perpendicular Technology for recording data. This makes them, in theory, faster than other hard disk drives. This is because the drive head has less far to move in order to record/retrieve the same amount of data. I have recently purchased the 320GB ATA100 version and I do notice slightly higher speeds compared to my previous Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 80GB drive.
Official reviews claim that the seek noise is higher with the 7200.10 than 7200.9, and higher than the majority of other leading drives. However, I cannot personally hear it seek at all, even when the drive is very busy. I do have a well insulated case but I am still able to hear the internal fans and another older hard disk I have. The reviews I've seen give very favourable figures for the spinning noise, which...
