Sean Connery Rocks!

Advantages: Sean Connery, Good storyline, Superb acting
Disadvantages: None that I could think of. (Perhaps Sean Connery's performance made me ignore any cons?)

...Why did I choose to watch this film? I can't remember as it was so long ago since I first watched it. (It was probably Sean Connery?) But since I watched it the first time, I enjoyed it so much that I have watched it again several times. What is "The Rock?" The Rock is Alcatraz, once a high security prison, now a tourist attraction. General Hummel (Ed Harris), disillusioned over the lack of compensation awarded for soldiers lost or injured in covert operations, decides to have his revenge by taking 81 tourists of Alcatraz hostage and threatens to release missiles capable of completely decimating the nearby city of San Francisco if they do not meet his demands. Sean Connery when young and HOT!

Advantages: A much under-estimated psychological thriller
Disadvantages: Quite slow-moving

...This is an odd collection of more and less watchable movies with little in common except that that all feature Sean Connery in the lead role. Starting with his first post Bond role in Zardoz and finishing with his final big screen performance (to date) in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, this set includes mediocre performances in some ordinary movies and serves no real purpose other than filling the gaps in your collection. Looking at the movies in chronological order we get: Zardoz (1974) John Boorman was given a free hand with this psy-fi extravaganza following his success with Deliverance. Connery plays a savage called Zed on a post-apocalyptic Earth where survivors worship a floating head called Zardoz. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Advantages: All of Sean in one box
Disadvantages: None

...This is a real treasure trove for Bond fans?. Sean Connery was the original Bond and this box contains all the Connery Bonds in the 2 disc format that was recently released. But be aware that this does not contain Never Say Never Again (1983) as this was not deemed an official entry. This is classic Bond without any doubt. And even today they are still memorable, watchable and very enjoyable. Each film has been re-mastered digitally which means that you get a better picture, Dolby sound and a whole host of extras, in fact the extras are better than the previous release 4 years ago as more stuff has been added. The quality of each film has been improved and to watch Dr No which was made in 1962 with this high quality shows how much work was done on each film, on the Dr No disc there is a documentary about the process...
