Synergie Pure Sebum Control Moisturiser

...This product does exactly what it is designed to do. It mattifies the skin, absorbs excess oil and controls sebum throughout the day. This product is cooling, smells refreshing and is, very refreshing. It is not creamy unlike most other moisturisers. The texture is similar to a gel, but it is not sticky. It is pale aqua in colour. Two of the active ingredients are clay and zinc. It is obvious clay is an ingredient as when the moisturiser has been absorbed/dried your skin feels smooth. But this is not to say that there is a 'layer' of clay on your skin. I first tried this product because my skin had become oily, more so than normal, and started to clog pores in the T zone (chin, nose, forehead). I tried a few other products designed to 'mattify' or for combination skin but they were a little too greasy and did not seem to soak up...

Oil Be Back

Advantages: Stops skin from looking greasy or oily
Disadvantages: Can make you look like a ghost

...At my age I would have thought greasy skin might have been a thing of the past, but on the contrary it actually seems to be getting worse. I get really wound up with people saying I?m lucky having oil slick skin because I won?t wrinkle as quickly ? its always people who don?t look like they have chip pan facials that say things like that? No more egg-frying on my face

Advantages: Mattifies the skin. Stops the shine.
Disadvantages: Dries up the skin. Makes the skin rough. Make up does not glide on over this moisturiser.

Not just a pretty face

Advantages: mattifies without drying, smells nice, not too pricey
Disadvantages: not flip up lid, can sting if skin is irritated

I have a long history of excess oil and spotty skin. I have seen dermatologists on and off for years resulting in me taking Roaccutane. Garnier recommend that you tone before using this product, I do not do this as it has not been recommended by any dermatologist that I have seen, in fact I have been told toning is counter productive and aggravates the oil glands into producing more oil. I find it annoying that the back of the bottle mentions oil and sebum, which is the same thing. Agood facial exfoliator!

Advantages: effective
Disadvantages: a bit harsh and drying

...I bought this facial cleanser as I wanted a cleanser that I could use quickly and easily as I had previously found some of the other Lush cleansers to be a bit messy and time consuming. My theory was that I could simply wipe the bar over my face and job done- well kind of! So this bar contains ground up charcoal which is very good for the skin apparently helping to absorb excess sebum. The granules also act as an exfoliater too. The other ingredients include skin softening liquorice root. The smell of the liquorice and charcoal comes through quite strongly in this product and its not a smell I love but I figure if it works thats the main thing, however I will be trying a fresh farmacy as well in case that smells or work better! So what does it feel like? Well it is a pretty rough facial bar and can leave my skin feeling a bit dry...
