Zonealarm is not a complex program that provides the highest security, including stealthing, to protect your system from unwanted and unknown attempts to access your system. yet, it provides such a simple interface a 5 year old could use it! The free version works fine for me, Ive had security sites try to test my computer with Zone Alarm and they cant gain access at all. The free version uses about 6% to 7% system resources when activated, so I turn it off when Im not on the internet. ZoneAlarm provides excellent free protection for any individual who surfs the Net. If you can stomach the ads, if not buy zone alarm pro! It's well worth the download. If you want firewall security without needing alot of extra work I highly reccomend this program, A+, and it's free!... Read review

...You hear about hackers scanning ports and gaining access to computers and causing all sorts of problems. Once into your system they have access to all your private in formation stored on it. I thought, "there is only a remote chance of that happening to me." How wrong I was. I downloaded a copy of Zone Alarm which is freeware, try Softseek.com, and installed it out of curiosity. Now I wouldn't be without it. My machine is attacked up to fifteen times an hour especially when on Newsgroups. I shudder to think what information has been freely flowing from my machine before I used this software. Now I feel totally secure as Zone Alarm blocks all attempts of illegal access to my machine. ...We recently had an alarm system installed by ADT and the service has been so good that I decided to tell you about it. ADT seem to be a large well established company who have a lot of commercial business and are expanding into the domestic market. As this is a centrally monitored system the kit has to be really good. The internal sensors work by detecting heat with movement so that the chance of a false intruder alarm is limited. The smoke detector also works as a carbon monoxide detector. Detectors can be set to trigger a beep when they are activated eg if the front door is opened. The installation engineer was arranged efficiently and came out when promised. He did the work quickly and cleanly and made a small change to the installation plan to ensure best protection. Well they are the largest security company in the uk and unlike most companys they have dedicated engineers for service and installation so there never all tired up at once if you nhave a fault on your system your allmost guarrented an engineer the same day. All the engineers are vetted for NSI (nacoss) requirments and are all trained on all the equipment used by the company. The systems that they use are mainly Honeywell Galaxy systems and have been used by the company for many years and are all well tried and tested. The new radio systems now available are much better than systems of old but beware if you have an old house with thick walls then this can cause problems with the radio signal but the RF part of the system can be fitted away from the main system thus alowing a lot... Crimes such as murder and theft seem to be on the rise, and can anyone ever feel too safe? I want to summon the law enforcement community to my home in a moments notice. Strangely enough, I have a dog. This story will seem rather amusing as it progresses. I was referred to an ADT salesman, who arrived and assessing the situation, came up with an affordable plan for me. I signed an agreement for the plan, and the next day a technician arrived and installed the alarm. He then made sure I understood how to arm and disarm the system. I was also given easy to follow step-by-step instructions and a video. They do want to make sure you understand the system. They want to avoid 'false' alarms, and you are only allowed three a year...
