Sega Rally
Advantages: Two player game, good family game
Disadvantages: Cars race off into the distance and trouble using second steering wheel
...I bought a Playstation 3 New Years Eve and had Sega Rally as a free game with it. I had Sega Rally on the Dreamcast so wanted this game for a while.
You can play as one or two player (quite a few of the driving games are one player only, so this is an advantage).
If you play as one player obviously you have the whole screen and you have a co-driver giving directions. In one player you can play;
championship and win points to unlock other championships.
Quick race - Alpine, Canyon, Arctic or Tropical.
Time Attack custom your own car, You are the only car on the track trying to achieve the quickest time, you can post your time online or download a ghost car to compete against.
Also there is a garage where your track progress and what you have done.
In two player you have a split screen, we like the two player...

Dreamcast... why on earth did Sega call it that?
Advantages: Cheap, has some excellent games, rare console to own
Disadvantages: No software developer support anymore, obsolete console
..."My gosh is that is that a Dreamcast in your bag or are you just pleased to see me?"
My mate has always been exaggerative when it came to me bringing old consoles over to his for us to play some vintage classic games. We were heroes of the Sega world, having owned near enough all the consoles they have ever released and all the Sonic games ever conceived by the Sega game boffins.
Sega has always had a soft spot in my heart, with their Master Systems and Mega Drive consoles selling by the bucket load in the 80's you'd think they would have it easy. Tch tch, a darn shame Nintendo were around to steal their thunder.
Now this comes along, Sega's most ambitious project ever in the form of a 128bit console that delivered for the first time 'clear, sharp, realistic 3D graphics on your television'. And yes it did, compared to...

The Sega Saturn
Advantages: Cheap, good looking, CD player for £30!
Disadvantages: Old, bulky, no longer supported
...The Sega Saturn is a dead console: no one supports it, not even Sega. So why should you invest in one? Well, let me tell you a story...
I bought by Sega Saturn in the summer of 2000. The sun was out, everyone was care-free. Rabbits hopped along the tree-lined streets of the rural town of middlesbrough(!), and people went about their normal daily business.
I walked into the local Chips and went to their display cabinet. There it was: a Sega Saturn, with Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter 2, for only £30. £30! That was a bargain! I took my money and paid for it. I got home, plugged it in and enjoyed every second of it.
The thing to remember is, at second-hand prices, the Sega Saturn is tremendous value for money. That £30 gets you a CD player, it gets you 2 fantastic games and it gets you a nice black piece of electrical equipment to...

SEGA SATURN
Advantages: C opinion
Disadvantages: C above
...I find myself here at almost 2am on the Internet, so I thought I'd talk to you about the Sega Saturn console. It's not as 'retro' as some gaming machines like the X Spectrum, but it's pretty much forgotten about now, although there must be a few satisfied Saturn owners out there! Ok, so the Sega Saturn may have paled in comparison to it's only rival as it were, the Sony PlayStation, but the console was not a complete flop, although the shelf life wasn't overly impressive. Still, there are many reasons why you should get yourself a Sega Saturn even today - let me take you on a little Sega Saturn guided tour...
Back in the mid 1990's Sega brought out it's latest revolutionary games console, the first CD based around, and everyone thought it'd be a sure fire hit. However, due to many reasons, including the failure of previous pieces...

Sega Mega CD? Sega Mega Crap!
Advantages: Grandfather of CD consoles
Disadvantages: The Sega Saturn should have been the grandfather
...Do you know why Sega stopped making games consoles after the Dreamcast and concentrated on making software for other consoles? It is because Sega?s executives have always made stupid, ill-informed decisions. I mean, how many mistakes can a company make before they start to wise up and start doing things properly to make a profit and appeal properly to their fans? The Dreamcast was a step in the right direction, but it was already too late and Sega knew it as well. So now I present you with genesis, the beginning of Sega?s bad decision making with this horrid contraption called the Sega Mega CD. It was made to prolong the life of its aging console, the Sega Mega Drive, since the old ?16bit? and ?BLAST PROCESSING? marketing ploys stopped working. I remember in my childhood that only the rich kids could afford a Mega CD because it was way...

Dreamcast Not Sega's Best
Advantages: great console
Disadvantages: not a wide range of games
...This review is about the console, The Sega Dreamcast. I will talk about everything roughly about the Dreamcast, and how useful it is.
The Dreamcast is a small console, all white, it has 4 controller sockets. There are quite a few buttons that you can use, there is the switch on and off button, the reset button, and the eject button, which allows you to put your game disc in and out.
There are loads of games for this console, but only a fair amount of them are good, like Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, these games are now on the Gamecube also. I own the first Sonic adventure on dreamcast and Gamecube, I only got it for Gamecube because my Dreamcast has no where to be hooked up, so I'm pretty much stuck without it. There are other games that you can get for it like Jet Set Radio, which is a not bad game; there is...

SEGA Goes Back AGES
Advantages: Decent remakes of Columns and Virtua Racing, nicely presented
Disadvantages: Many poor updates, the graphics are naff, little longevity or enjoyment to be found
...Retro compilations seem to be the flavour of the month in gaming right now, with industry heavyweights Atari, Capcom, Midway and Taito all bundling together stacks of their golden oldies and introducing them to a new generation of gamers. Some compilations are stronger than others, though generally you know what you are buying into. SEGA's own 'Classics Collection' had for some time prior to its release proved a more unusual, quirky proposition to me, as the nine games featured on the disc are not so much classics re-released, as classics remade...
Though I'm still a teenager, I must admit SEGA Classics Collection made me feel rather old ? I recall playing five of the games featured first time around on the Mega-Drive. The titles up for a 21st Century paint job include Golden Axe; Columns; Virtua Racing; Monaco GP and Outrun, as well as...

Sega Mega-Drive II
Advantages: Pretty console, good games
Disadvantages: Highly priced games, couldn't handle 3D, very few games with save feature
...The Mega-Drive marked the beginning of the end of my social life. I got this, my first ever games console for Christmas in 1994 (is it really that long ago?) and whilst by today's standards its technologically ancient, it delivered a huge amount of simple fun.
It must be said, the Mega-Drive II (same as the Mega-Drive, but smaller) is still one of the best looking consoles ever divised. A slick black colour, it was a nice size and everything you needed was right infront of you - power and reset buttons and a slot for the game cartridges. Simple and very accessible from the off.
It was a 16-bit console, and because of the comparitive lack of power compared with today's 128-bit behemoth's, couldn't handle any 3D games. Still, the extra power over the Master System (Sega's previous console) meant that developers could use a lot more...

Sega's little box of magic
Advantages: Fun, great controler, amazing games, online play
Disadvantages: Under supported,
...I have a Dream.
Way back in1997 the initial plans for the new Sega console where put into motion.
The sega Saturn had took a pounding at the hands of the PlayStation, so Sega needed to act fast in order to re-claim there stake in the hardware game.
Initially codenamed the Katana (A name that can still be found on the internal chips) the later renamed Dreamcast finally showed its face on November 27th 1998 in Japan.
A flurry of Pre orders and a massive initial sales boost meant that the Dreamcasts future was seemingly set in stone.
Little white box of tricks.
The console its self was a pretty little thing.
Dressed in a white shell with the distinct Dreamcast swirl and logo on the top, nobody would moan about it being under the TV.
Before the Dreamcast, Consoles where quite frankly ugly little monsters. They where...

Sega Rally (PS3)
Advantages: 2 player Mode
Disadvantages: Low standard game all round.
...Everyone remembers this game at the arcades; the original Sega Rally arcade game was a revolution, as a child sitting in that bucket seat gripping the steering wheel like your life depended on it. So when I see this had been released you on the PS3 I immediately went out and bought it.
And that's about where the excitement ends unfortunately, the game is a real disappointment, yes there's plenty of cars to choose from but I found the track were rather predictable and the game play was not as good as it should have been for a next generation game, the championship mode is fairly difficult to begin with and gets even harder as you progress and unlock more races.
One good thing about the game is the head to head mode (as many racing games on the PS3 are one player unless you're prepared to go online.) There is definite fun to be had...
