Dreamcast... why on earth did Sega call it that?

Advantages: Cheap, has some excellent games, rare console to own
Disadvantages: No software developer support anymore, obsolete console

Dreamcast Not Sega's Best

Advantages: great console
Disadvantages: not a wide range of games

...This review is about the console, The Sega Dreamcast. I will talk about everything roughly about the Dreamcast, and how useful it is. The Dreamcast is a small console, all white, it has 4 controller sockets. There are quite a few buttons that you can use, there is the switch on and off button, the reset button, and the eject button, which allows you to put your game disc in and out. There are loads of games for this console, but only a fair amount of them are good, like Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, these games are now on the Gamecube also. Advantages: Brilliant Graphics And Internet Capabilities

...Dreamcast is the brand new console out in the UK (Day I Wrote This Review Is 09/08/00) and it has a big reputation to fufill, I just received a dreamcast for my birthday present and I have not been disappointed, I had a special deal where it came with 6 games, and the graphics and quality of this console is amazing, the ability to go onto the internet is incredible, the only problem with this console, which will probably be fixed as time goes on, is the price of the games, a game costs on average £40 to buy. Dreamcast - Console of the future?

Advantages: Great graphics, great games, and internet access
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit costly, and the internet is quite slow with no choic of ISP!

...with two trigger buttons, four traditional buttons a d-pad and a built in analogue stick. There are some downpoints however, the d-pad is a bit unresponsive and although this sound like i am impatient the games take a couple of minutes to load. Sega could have fitted a 56k modem but have stuck to the slower 36k version. Overall the DreamCast boasts great graphics, a good selection of games and internet access. Although the thought of £200 for a console may seen a bit much....

Advantages: Great console with some brilliant games
Disadvantages: He's dead jim (or soon to be)

...Sega must be pretty bitter really. They failed with the Saturn and failed with the DC. Sega are in a disasterous financial position and their future is in doubt. The DC must be a truly naff console. When the DC first came out I watched the demos on screens in Game etc and wasn't that impressed. It was that Acclaim futuristic surfing title. It did nothing for me. The Sonic game was awful and I'd planned to skip over the Sega and wait for the PS2 to appear. However I didn't I picked up s/hand DC fairly cheap to try it for myself. The thing was my expectations were quite low. However I soon realised the DC wasn't half as naff as I'd thought before in fact it was pretty damn brilliant. The visuals were superb, the games loaded fast and it seemed very powerful indeed. Games like MSR, Quake 3 and Shenmue show what a truly fantastic...
